I was provided a copy of this book to read by Netgalley.
This book is about Minnie and Quinn, two people who were born at the same hospital on the exact same day. They cross paths on their 30th birthday at a NYE party. I had a lot of difficulty getting into this one and ultimately DNF'ed it. I am not a big fan of books in the 3rd person and the story and characters did not interest me as much as I thought they would.

4.5 stars*
Firstly, I'd like to thank NetGalley for gifting me an eARC for an honest review. Then the publisher contacted me and asked if I wanted a physical copy and join the book tour! Of course I said yes!
I want to just say that this book is set in 2020 and there is no virus, so it's kind of like a fairytale! So, this is such an interesting rom-com where we follow a year in the life of Minnie Cooper and also it flashes back to different New Year's in her past and also Quinn Hamilton's. They were both born on New Years Day and thirty years later they find themselves back together again. I loved how real Minnie was and how her life really wasn't perfect and kind of fell apart in the first half of the book and I really felt for her. Quinn also had real problems that meant his personal life was a bit of a mess.
I don't know if I believe in fate but these two were meant to be and I loved the little reveals in each flashback story and how it all connected by the end of the book. Although they were clearly meant to be the book wasn't this cheesy kind of romance. They both had insecurities which meant they wouldn't take the leap. Even when it seemed like the only option they were still stuck in their heads. By the end I was speed reading because I needed to know what happened and it really didn't disappoint. That last page made me squeal (I think I gave my partner a heart attack). Thanks again to the publishers and Sophie for giving me a chance to read this for an honest review!

I loved this book so much. I read this in one day and it was such a perfect time to be picking this book up.
I fell in love with both Quinn and Minnie and also their friends and family. And Sophie's writing is so beautiful. I will definitely pick up more from her in the future. I really loved the time jumps in this and how cleverly it was written and tied up.
I think this book is perfect for this time of year, and right through Winter.
I gave This Time Next Year 5 stars

This sweet book tells the story of two New Years babies Quinn and Minnie and how their lives may look like they have been on separate tangents they have actually been intertwined the whole time. It was a great, easy read and I liked how the flashbacks of previous New Years Eve events foreshadowed it all.

Love can sometimes be found in the unlikely of places with the unlikeliest person.
That’s what happened to Minnie. Forever clouded by her 'bad luck' which happened to be the day she was born, on New Year's Eve. From that day forward she believed that she was jinxed and every New Year's Eve, bad things just seem to happen to her.
Minnie grew up watching her mom cook and that passion led her and her best friend to create a pie catering business, "No Hard Fillings' which provides food to the elderly. Minnie is kind hearted, loving and finds herself stretching herself way too thin to help and support others.
Quinn Hamilton was born just minutes before Minnie on New Year's Eve, making him the first baby born on Jan 1st. Despite being born with all the privilege, his childhood was far from easy. The circumstancing surrounding his home life, made Quinn to be humble, grounded and extremely private.
I loved how the author intertwined their stories, their lives by revealing little tidbits of their past. In one instance, it appeared as though Quinn and Minnie had a chance encounter but it was never expanded upon or brought up in the story.
There is so much depth to the characters, relationships and friendships. Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read and review this book. It's definitely one worth reading if you enjoy stories about love, friendship and finding your true passion.

First time read by this author but I would definitely read again. Sweet story that spans 30 years of missed chances between two people who share more than even they imagined. Pratfalls and amazing English humor round out a story that makes you cheer for the underdog all the way through. Some romance and barely even a kiss but I still found myself riveted to the pages wondering what would happen next and if these two would ever find their happily ever afters.

I enjoyed this light easy read. The characters were likeable.... the back and forth story line wasn’t my favorite, I understand it was building the story, but to me it felt a bit disjointed. Over all, a happy easy read.

A heart warming romance.
Easy to read and made me smile.
Minnie and Quinn were born in the same hospital a minute apart, they’ve very different lives but something keeps bringing them together again.
Enjoyable

Minnie and Quinn were both wonderful characters in their own rights and while this was a rom com at its heart, it also is a story about friendship and family. There are definitely some under lying themes of not judging a book by the cover and not assuming you know what happens behind closed doors as well. On the outside, it seems like Quinn has it all but he had his own challenges in life too and it felt like a very realistic depiction of life and relationships too, life isn’t all rosy sometimes and that’s okay, good things can still happen to you.
Flashbacks from previous New Years are intertwined throughout the book and it was so interesting to try work out where Minnie and Quinn’s paths had previously crossed. I really enjoyed the added backstory because it really fleshed out the characters and helped me to understand their motivations.
I also found the book to be very cinematic and it reads like it would easily adapt to film. This style of writing was so readable and it meant I flew through it. I suppose this is quite possibly be because Sophie Cousens used to be a TV producer!
A big part of the book that I really loved was all the supporting characters but I have to say, the real tragedy of the story was Grape-kun, which I had to google. If you’ve read it, you’ll know…

I was provided a free copy of this from @netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
I really enjoyed this fun Romance story! Born on the same day (New Years Day), in the same hospital, Quinn and Minnie's lives couldn't be more different. When they bump into each other on their thirtieth birthday they realize their lives may be intertwined more than they know! Throughout the year they will struggle with many tough parts of life (depression, failure, break ups, finding oneself, fixing oneself) but will they find themselves in similar places at this same time next year? 🤔 You'll have to read to find out! 😁
NetGalley says it was published 1 August, but I believe that was in the UK. Amazon is showing its not available in the US until 1 December. This would definitely be a fun holiday read, not too fluffy, but also not too heavy. It does deal with some tough issues, but I feel like it talks about them and works through them without losing its fun romance story feel.

It’s book tour day for #ThisTimeNextYear ✨
✨ Who loves a book ALL about the characters with amazing stories of friendship and love? 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️
✨ A cute uplifting romance (with a few serious topics) that’s definitely worth adding to your TBR

I was so very attracted to this book cover and the book premise that I wanted to read it right away! However, after 4 chapters, I just could not compel myself to continue with the read. I wanted to love this book because it just seemed so cute! But it sadly just want not for me :(.

Minnie Cooper and Quinn Hamilton are love twins. Except they don’t know each other, yet!
Minnie Cooper is the unfortunate, unlucky one who is been named so right from the moment she was born by her mom. She’s raised up without self-assurance from her parents thus ending up with a self-sabotaging attitude which ruins everything for her.
Quinn on the other hand has had a tough childhood despite being born to rich parents. His father was never there and his mother suffers from anxiety issues, needing his attention at all times. This has sabotaged almost all of his past relationships for him. And Quinn ends up with commitment issues because of his insecurity and fear of hurting someone close.
These two characters have so much in common including their DOB and many other likes and dislikes. Fate has kept them apart for 30 years, but now that they have finally met, will they overcome all their personal issues to find their soul mate in each other?
The story is narrated with timelines going back and forth, letting us learn more about Minnie and Quinn’s childhood and their struggles against life. This style might be a bit confusing for the readers and also prone to redundancy after 80% into the book. Although, the story is a delight to read, and the ending is totally worth the wait. Themes of anxiety, PTSD, loneliness, phobia are dealt mildly among the characters.
Minnie’s friends are great characters. Leila her BFF is one hell of a tough woman who loves Minnie to the core, and her co-workers Bev, Fleur and Alan are all sweet and humorous in their own ways. Personally, I loved all the other characters more than Minnie and Quinn. If Sophie decides to write a romcom featuring Fleur’s love story, I am not saying no to it!
Overall, This Time Next Year is a pleasant, fast-paced, uplifting romantic comedy to binge read with coffee and cuddles.

I absolutely loved everything about this book! The cover is beautiful, the characters are charming and the plot is wonderful. I loved the idea of the two main characters who were unknowingly spending their lives orbiting each other. I loved their story and I don't want to spoil it for anyone but I really can't recommend This Time Next Year enough... it's just a really lovely little book and I enjoyed every minute!
Thank you to NetGalley, Sophie Cousens and Random House UK, Cornerstone for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

If you are in need of a feel-good love story - and frankly, who isn't right now? - look no further. Heartwarming, emotional and a few laughs along the way. This Time Next Year is just the job for this time right now.

The premise for This Time Next Year sounded absolutely adorable. A meet cute, a slightly awkward history, and a New Year’s eve romance? I couldn’t wait. Unfortunately, this one really didn’t work for me. Mostly because I could not bring myself to care about the romance. Minnie’s story was good and I liked seeing how she grew throughout the book. But the romance with Quinn was super off-putting, particularly because of just how emotionally unavailable he was throughout the book. And because I couldn’t really see the chemistry between them. The interludes showing where each of them was at various NYE in the past also didn’t really add anything.
Anyway, this one wasn’t for me! But I do think there are readers out there who will enjoy it.
*Disclaimer: I received an advance digital copy of this book for free from the publisher. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I went into this book with really high hopes, and this book was good, it just wasn't as amazing as I was hoping it would be. I thought there were a lot of plot holes and quite a lot of too convenient plot points that really didn't need to be there.
I did however like the mental health rep in this book, and also I felt that the romance was really healthy. Also, the last chapter was a total 5 Star ending for me, I could picture it happening in my head and with a few tweaks to the rest of the book I think this would make a fantastic film!

I was provided an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. cute yet predictable. a quick read that I was able to finish in one sitting. while the book is filled with cliches, a few plot holes, and a few more boring bits, the redemption was in the likability of a handful of characters. it’s a sweet read with some more unique plot points.

Thank you to Netgalley and Random House for my arc of this book!
I am on the book tour through my bookstagram account for this book this month but thought I would write my review now as have just finished reading it!!
From the beginning I really liked Minnie, and the way she lived her life. And when she meets Quinn you can kind of see what is going to happen between them, but also enjoy that the story is also about her life and her relationships with her friends, work colleagues and her parents.
Made me so sad reading about Minnie being at school and the bullies.
Every choice she make had me rooting for her to be happy and for things to work out!
A lovely, heart warming read and a beautiful story, would definitely recommend!
Will be talking more about it on 20th October on the book tour!

This Time Next Year follows Minnie and Quinn who were both born on January 1st, 1990. Quinn was the first baby of the new decade and Minnie was born a minute later, causing her to feel inadequate and unlucky for the rest of her life. But when Quinn and Minnie stumble into a chance encounter, they find themselves drawn to one another. Quinn’s commitment issues and Minnie’s streak of bad luck might keep them apart, unless they decide they can overcome the odds and that true love is worth fighting for.
I liked the concept behind this book: two people born on the same day, in the same hospital, who orbited around each other unknowingly for their whole lives finally find each other and fall in love. I also did like Minnie and Quinn as characters and definitely wanted and hoped for them to get together. I think Minnie’s friend, Leila, and her boyfriend, Ian, were actually one the the best parts of this story. They were such great supporting characters and people for Minnie to have in her life, and I just really fell in love with them.
Despite those positives, my overall experience with this book was negative. For one, it was way too slow burn for me. In a romance, I need some romance. These characters didn’t even get together for the first time until the 98% mark. While I enjoyed reading about Minnie and her friends, I definitely wanted more scenes of Minnie and Quinn together.
Another major complaint of mine is the flashbacks. There were a number of flashbacks throughout to times in the past when Quinn and Minnie’s lives had unknowing bisected. But, I really don’t think they added anything except filler to the story and made the pace seem even more painfully slow.
I also didn’t love how the conflict with Minnie’s mother was dealt with. Minnie’s mother is one of the major contributors to Minnie’s lack of self-confidence. Minnie’s mother has put her down, compared her to others, and just overall given off a sense of disappointment in regards to Minnie and her accomplishment for Minnie’s entire life. Although she gets better towards the end of the novel, her disrespect towards her daughter is never addressed by her nor Minnie. I think it would have been a significant moment of growth for the two of them if Minnie had finally confronted her mother about how she’d treated her and her mother had finally apologized. I just don’t understand why you’d include that conflict at all if you weren’t planning to resolve it. Minnie’s mother was downright awful to her for the majority of the book, so I just wanted more explanation and resolution from that line of the story.
My ultimate conclusion is that this story was boring. The pace was slow, nothing really happened, and the romance was lackluster at best. It’s not a bad book by any means, and if you like cozy fluffy reads, this one might appeal to you. But, it wasn’t for me.
