Four stars, rounding up. This was a very cute and charming book. It is definitely a children's book, although it does say whether you're 5 or 95 you can learn to draw. I wouldn't recommend it for an adult wanting to draw unless they were interested in doodle-style drawing, which is a lot of fun but to my mind doodling is different from drawing. I think this is ideal if you want to draw with a young child and have some examples with a little more fun flair to them, ideally ages 4 to 8. It is far from basic and that's why I added an extra star.

This is such a fun, simple art book. It really does teach you to draw pretty much everything in 6 steps or less. Ive always loved drawing since I was a kid but even I enjoy books like these. I almost always learn a different technique and its a great refresher. This book would make the perfect gift for anyone, any age

Cute and fun for a budding artist! With so many of us stuck at home these days, this would be a good intro book for any age.

This is a book by an artist who is sharing his skills with readers showing us how to draw a variety of things. He shows how to make things including animals, transportation, buildings, nature and even robots within six easy steps. If you have wondered how to draw a flower or a cartoon character this is a book to help. Little kids to older adults can enjoy trying to draw with this book. If you are beginning to draw this book takes the process step-by-step.

Start with basic sketching skills
Rich Davis, artist and author of more than fifteen books, presents "Learn to Draw (Almost) Anything in 6 Easy Steps" which was published by The Quarto Group–Race Point Publishing. The book is divided into eight chapters: 1) animals, 2) birds, 3) fish, 4) architecture, 5) transportation, 6) garden, 7) great outdoors, and 8) people. Every chapter contains a varying number of drawings presented in six simple steps. There are more than 100 all together. Then the chapters finish with drawings that are based on the previous ones in "Try These Too!" and a 12-Step Challenge for the budding artist to go beyond the skills that were studied in the chapter. Davis shows what needs to be drawn and what needs to be erased again in order to be able to work on the next step of the drawing. Every chapter contains also a page titled "Here's Some Inspiration" where Davis challenges the artists to go beyond the simple drawing and to combine them into more complex drawings.
Artists must be aware that is book is geared toward absolute beginners. It is for every age group, but especially for children. The drawings are simple and the steps are easy. I also highly appreciated the fact that the final drawings contain some coloring which can stimulate further inspiration. I highly recommend it.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book is a good starting point for the elementary age artists. Each drawing is completed with 6 quick steps, by turning simple shapes into different objects and figures.

This is great, its straightforward even for the least arty person ever (me). I feel like I can try my hand at some of these and if I keep practising I'll get much better! Perfect for those just starting or needing some inspiration. Will definitely recommend to budding (and those who try hard but have no skills!) artists!

It's a great confidence booster for anyone who wants to draw but is instantly intimidated by the idea. I love that it's all basic shapes making the step by step process that much simpler to follow along with, Not only that but it shows the drawer that almost everything can be drawn if you only look for the shapes creating it.

Was ok... a bit too basic for what I was looking for, but solid tips to approach drawing. Maybe useful for others looking for a more basic tool to draw.

Learning to draw and breaking it down to the techniques involved, can be the way forward into developing your own style of drawing and enabling the true artist inside to escape and come to fruition and enjoyment.

This book is a useful beginners guide, and library patrons frequently request such items. As such, it’s likely to be ordered for our patrons, although I would direct more experienced drawing enthusiasts to other titles.

For those who are looking for something fun to do and who are bored with some of their overused covid entertainments, why not try drawing? This book does exactly what it says; it shows you how to draw animals, plants,  people, architecture and more in just a few steps.  This is a fun guide for both kids and beginning artists.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.

Learn to Draw (Almost) Anything in Six Steps by Rich Davis

I found this drawing book after reviewing the Mini Chibi Art Class. My kids seemed interested, so we decided to check it out.

As the title suggests, this book contains step-by-step for a variety of…nouns. You know, people, places, and things. Since you don’t have the book in front of you, it’s worth noting that the drawings are all more of a cartoonish style than realistic renderings. The book is divided into categories:

Animals
Birds
Fish
Architecture
Transportation
Garden
Great Outdoors
People

Each of these categories contains 10 six-step instructions of a different thing to draw.

Then, there’s a subsection called “Try These Too”—since you’ve learned how to draw an anthropomorphic Running Turtle, now try drawing him on a scooter.

Each section ends with a 12 step challenge drawing that’s more intricate than the 6 step drawings, like an Ice Skating Penguin or the Brandenburg Gate.

My 13 year old prefers to draw in a manga/chibi style, but she enjoyed this book. She’s been working through it over the last month or so. She says that it’s simple and that it’ll help kids who want to be artists.

I would absolutely recommend this book. I’m grateful that it came out when it did because my state still has restrictions in place and I’m always looking for fun things for my kids to do, especially since so many programs have been cancelled.

Learn To Draw (Almost) Anything in 6 Easy Steps by Rich Davis teaches you how to draw 100 images in 6 steps. The images are definitely easy to draw and the exercises are broken down in easy to manage shapes. This would make a great book for school aged children, it lacks complexity so I would not consider adding this to an adult collection. It only took me a couple of hours to finish the book (drawings and all) .Overall it is a nice beginner guide that I would very much recommend.

What a fantastic book of cartoon type images for teaching anyone to draw over 100 different things from animals, dinosaurs, birds, buildings and much more. Each image is divided into 6 steps, with easy to follow drawings.

I've just spent time whilst reading the book, trying my hand at these step by step drawings, and they have come up better than anything I would have done before now - Picasso eat your heart out!

Such a fun selection to try, and then once you have mastered the basics the author provides a number of completed images for you to try and replicate, plus more complicated pictures with 12 steps to follow.

I received this book from Netgalley in return for a honest review.
