This is a very funny book - a typical beach read.
Florence is lovely. I loved reading about her relationship with her sisters and friends at the shop - but she is a bit daft, Rory you just want to slap for being so stereotype and Gwendolyn is a love coach .
If you want to escape and laugh try reading it

Easily in my top twenty best reads of 2020. Great escapist fiction that's both well written but with an emotional punch that I didn't see coming and nearly had me in tears. Florence is an exquisite depiction of a flawed character with a touch of the Cinderella hovering around the edges. Her hunt for Prince Charming fraught with modern day mishaps. There's even a self-obsessed step mother and a couple of ditzy half sisters thrown in for good measure. As for the fairy godmother... a new one on me.

Really enjoyed this book! It was charming and light-hearted. Perfect for when you want a quick, fluffy read.

Fantastically funny and very well written, I have been really impressed by both of this author's novels and will definitely be seeking out more of her work in the future.

Great, 3dimensional characters who sparkle off the page - you end the novel genuinely caring about each and every one.

This was a cute, lovely story about Florence. a 32 year old bookseller who has never had a boyfriend, but overall she is pretty happy with her life. When her sister gets engaged, her step mum books her an appointment to see a love guru, who makes her write a wish list of a perfect man - who turns out to be a man who walks into her life the next day, civil servant aspiring Conservative MP, Rory Dundee. But as the book goes on, and the relationship carries on, it is clearer and clearer to just because a man fits the description of a perfect man, doesn't mean that he will make you happy.

I thought this book was good, and sweet, and the real love story was really well told in the second half of the book. I loved the relationship between Florence and her sisters, and I even enjoyed the way that her disappointment with her distant relationship with her dad was handled, although I think that could have been handled better.

Where I felt the book fell down was how it looked at class. I thought the book sometimes came off a bit classist without necessarily investigating that.

Overall, I thought this was sweet - it was also interesting posh people love story (everyone was posh, not just Rory).

This is a story featuring some very posh people behaving in a way that we have been led to expect, by the media, that they do. Florence is the daughter of a career diplomat; he works abroad but Flo's step-mother and step-sister, like herself, live in London. Step-mother Patricia is the worst snob, and she was previously her husband's secretary! There are plenty of amusing incidents as everyone tries to sort out their lives, with help from each other, colleagues, friends and Gwendolyn the love therapist. Funny and sex-filled, but also great characters and mostly believable. Recommended.

This was an engaging and immersive read. I started reading it and suddenly it was 5am. I laughed out loud at bits, cried for a whole chapter, had full body cringe-attacks in some moments. It was a fun read, a sort of book about nothing but a good book about nothing.
It was predictable, you knew exactly where the book was going but that's not necessarily a bad thing. There were characters you enjoyed reading about and the narrator was relatable enough and funny enough to be someone you enjoyed travelling through the book with.

There were bits that I didn't really like. The female antagonists were stereotypical mean girls, the sex scenes that are written about are with a person who's horrible and the ending felt too perfect, too cliched, whereas the rest of the book felt more balanced and realistic. Whilst the Tory voting, gun toting aristocracy are mocked, the main character and her family are incredibly privileged too, and it was weird seeing them lambasting the social class just above them like they were from underprivileged, working class backgrounds. Mocking someone for eating grouse doesn't really work if you then talk about wearing a designer who dressed Meghan Markle.

This was a fun book and it's definitely worth a read- just don't expect it to stand out amongst all the other romance novels featuring a not-really-conventionally-attractive-but-is-desirable-in-a-awkward-but-not-too-nuanced heroine.

Florence Fairfax has captivated my attention for the day and I was lost in her world completely. Seeing life through her eyes - I laughed, I definitely cried ugly tears at one bit and I felt all warm and fuzzy when I put the book down.

I had read The Plus One so I already knew that I would enjoy this book as I had the last but Sophia Money-Coutts managed to outdo herself with this one. I throughly enjoyed reading and am now tempted to throw caution to the wind and book a last minute trip to Patagonia!

This was a funny and heartwarming book. It might have been a bit predictable but, with engaging characters and lots of laugh out loud moments it was an enjoyable read particularly in the current climate.

Meet Florence Fairfax, a slightly OCD character, with some interesting anxiety-related behaviours, who works in a small book shop in London. Oh, and a non-existent love life.
Until a concerned stepmother suggests a therapist...
Amidst disbelief that anything will come of it, Flo visits said therapist and comes away with a list of her perfect man.
And apparently, the universe delivers! Or does it?
I loved the characters, and I honestly laughed out loud several times, causing my husband to look at me quizzically. How could I explain that "Cowabunga!" will never sound the same to me ever again? (Confused? Well, you need to read to find out the reason - and it's well worth the read!)

This book is a well written and easy read that is very light hearted, witty and funny. The characters were great too. The ending was a little predictable but I still really enjoyed it nonetheless. Looking forward to her next book. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Florence is happily single, working in a bookshop and sharing her home with her cat, and two stepsisters. Her stepmother makes her an appointment with a love coach who tells her to make a wish list for what she is looking for in a man. Florence had reluctantly attended to appease her stepmother only to find that she is expected to attend more than one appointment.
Is it just coincidence then that the perfect man appears in her bookshop a week later?
I really enjoyed reading The Wish list, and even though the ending was as I expected, I enjoyed the journey to get there.

I loved this book and I love this author, its her best publication yet.

The characters are likeable and relatable, without being too saccharine and run of the mill. The plot moves at a good pace to keep it interesting. You're taken through a wold I suspect most of us would have little idea about, without being made to feel like uncouth plebs... Just read with caution if you have a cat.

I was so excited to read this book because I really love Sophia’s writing and The Wish List was no exception! It’s such an enjoyable read and had me wanting to reach for my kindle at any chance I could. A story about a girl that’s a little bit different working in a bookshop and getting in to a relationship which she has no experience with, whilst trying to save the bookshop. Florence is extremely likeable and funny, along with her sisters Mia and Ruby. Florence’s character actually becomes funnier as the book goes on and she comes out of her shell a little more. All in all, another brilliant book from Sophia and I hugely recommend!

Hilarious and heartfelt. Loved every single page and couldn’t wait to find out the ending. You can’t hope but adore Flo and her two sisters as well as the rest of the supporting characters. Moments that are sheer bonkers with the odd tear jerking moment. Couldn’t recommend more. Loved it!

Absolutely loved this his book, so much so I even tweeted the author to tell her! I love how the heroine had flaws which were imbedded from a past event. It was quite obvious who she was going to end up with as soon as he was introduced but this didn’t matter cos the book so very real and very funny. The sex scenes were realistic (who hasn’t turned their head away to stop our bedmate from getting a want of morning breath?!

I am so pleased I have discovered this fantastic author, I will definitely be reading her other titles.

I did really enjoy this book but it wasn't what I'd call a page turner. I love that it centred around a bookshop.
I would have liked more mention of the NOMAD group and to get to know those characters a bit better, as it was they were just a list of names.
I thought this was pretty predictable from early on in the book but it was a nice light read in these uncertain times. I would read another book by this author.

Was so eagerly anticipating Sophia’s newest novel after the roaring success of her first last year. Florence is a witty, dry character who provides humour and mishaps throughout. The surrounding cast were really well written and felt realistic yet very individual and quite eccentric. I loved the pace of the story, I was completely immersed and enjoyed it thoroughly. The romantic storyline was slightly predictable but I didn’t mind as I loved being in Florence’s world. Fleabag meets Sophie Kinsella meets Notting Hill, cannot wait for the next one already!
