Great book. Relatable characters The golden girls are frickin fabulous and give great comic relief and are definitely entertaining. It was a great read and definitely had the great romance and alpha-ness that the author does so well

Let me start by saying, I absolutely LOVE this series and it was great to see the characters from the previous two books in this one.

Now on to Anna and Cal, I loved Anna's bravery and her ability to speak her mind. She said what she meant and meant what she said and I appreciated that about her - along with how she was looking to find herself. And I absolutely loved Calvin's alpha to Anna's stubborn, ARR always gives good alpha and she didn't disappoint with Cal. You could totally feel Cal and Anna's connection and as their relationship grew you could only keep cheering them on.

I loved Edie, Pearl and Dixie... they were hilarious!

This one had some drama, some hilarity, some "whoa, what did he do?" moments, and some "you go girl!" moments. An absolute delight to read and I can't wait for whatever ARR gives us next.

This books starts off so fun and is full of witty banter between the two leads. Some secondary characters (yes I'm talking about the older ladies) provides some serious comedic moments. But this is a story about learning to let go and feel what could happen even when someone's first impression is not that appealling. Sexy, romantic and a must read

Hooking Him is a fantastic read. I love that we still get the "Golden Girls" in this one and that they are up to their usual charm. Anna is lovely. She is more then her last name and moving on her own way. Calvin is a hot detective and ready to move on. You will love his family. This whole book will put a smile on your face. Anna and Calvin have this connection that pulls you in. They are so sweet together and burn up the pages too. Calvin and Anna are simply wonderful and suck you in with their banter. I loved this book so much.

Hooking Him by Aurora Rose Reynolds a five-star read that will hook, you line and sinker. This is number three in the How to Catch and Alpha series, but they are all about different people so they can be read as stand-alone, the previous characters do mix in with the stories but only as secondary characters. That being said I am sure you will fall in love with the writing and need to go back and devour the previous novels if you haven’t already. Anna McAlister is just a brilliant character, she stood up for herself and went after what she wants, a quiet life with people who care. Anna just wants a quiet life, and who doesn’t identify with that. When you throw in Calvin Miller and his awesomely hilarious family!! And you have a winner. I did find that the ending a little rushed in places, it was like everything happened in such a few pages, but it worked, and it may just be me that would have liked a little more detail. Overall, this was a great story and one I devoured in one read, with enough in this one to keep you hooked and enough drama that it keeps you on your toes.

4.5⭐
Hooking Him, hooked me from the very first page, thanks in part to three golden girls who were a complete riot every time they appeared. But also because this story was so charming, and entertaining to read, even with the little touch of added drama thanks to Calvin's job. Yet, it wasn't overly dramatic or full of angst and I really liked that plus I really enjoyed the romance that developed between Calvin and Anna, as it just felt natural and easy.

And even though this is the third book in the How to Catch an Alpha series it can easily be read as a standalone, and for me it's definitely the best one; and my favourite Aurora Rose Reynolds book to date.

Would happily recommend.

I really enjoyed this book! It hooked me in right away! I pretty much read it in one sitting! I have added Calvin to the ever growing list of book boyfriends! I am also now on the hunt to find my own golden girl pack! This book gives you a little bit of everything! Humor, the feels and a bit of a mystery and suspense. I would definitely recommend this book!!

A fab read, the story of Calvin and Anna.

She is in town to escape her past and start over. She is happy working in the bakery and having a quiet life.
Calvin is a poice detective, who meets Anna when he pulls over Evie for her bad driving. He wants to date Anna and doesn't give up. But there are things happening in town that might disupt their happiness.

Loved the characters of Evie and her trouble-making friends!

I loved this one so much!
Aurora couldn’t write a bad book to save her life! These characters were all very lovable and I read this book in two sittings over one day. That’s how much I enjoyed it.
You’ll love this one!

Hooking Him is the last in this series and although I'm sad to see this series go, I'm happy that it ended with Anna and Calvin's HEA. Aurora always brings me the feels. I love her books and this series was a favorite. The fun scenes between these characters were amazing and the heat was OTT!!!

I think by now a lot of you know how much of a Aurora fan I am, I have read and re-read all of her books, and this was a bitter-sweet one because it’s the last one in the series. I really could use another 5 or 6 in the series. And Calvin, most favorite HERO this year.

Calvin took the cake for me. He is a handsome, sexy, tall, funny, loyal, alpha and sweetest man alive..oh an a Police Officer that has a soft spot for sweet heroines that are a bit sassy. Which out Heroine Anna is, they come from very different worlds yet all it took was one look. Calvin wants to understand Anna and Anna wants to shield him from her family and past. Little bit of drama, action and mystery in this one, sweetest moments…gah I loved everything about this and like I said wish there was another 5 or 6 more! I highly recommend this entire series!!

This was great!

It was a relatively short read, but the story was still well-developed and felt complete.

The characters and storyline drew you in, the writing and chemistry kept your interest, and the HEA and sweetness of the story gave you the warm fuzzy feelings you were after.

I'd recommend this.

I loved this story! Anna is trying to start her life over in a small coastal town in South Carolina after realizing how unhappy she was and abandoning everything in Chicago. She tries to deny the attraction to police detective Calvin Miller. They both feel like they aren’t ready to jump into a relationship yet but the attraction is more than they can resist!

“If you take one lesson from today, let it be that you should live every single day of your life like it’s your last. Drink when you want, laugh until your soul is full, open yourself up to falling in love, spend time with people who are important, and enjoy every moment, even the scary ones.”

Hooking Him is a perfect distraction book. It is a sweet and fun small town romance with just a touch of angst.

Hooking Him is the third installment in Aurora Rose Reynolds’ How to Catch an Alpha series. This story is about Anna McAlister, a woman who’s left behind her fiance and her previous life in Chicago for small town South Carolina. Anna’s been feeling like she needs to find herself and she’s not looking for love any more. Enter Calvin Miller, sexy detective and a romance skeptic. Calvin’s been burned by women before, but he can’t help wondering what it would be like with Anna in his bed. When a mystery rocks their town can these two manage to hold on to each other or will they be torn apart?

Aurora Rose Reynolds is known for her sweet and sassy reads with alphas that fall almost instantly for their women. I like that these books are usually loaded with steam, humor, and heart with characters that make you fall in love with them as instantly as they fall in love with each other. Though this novel sits within the How to Catch an Alpha world it can be read as a standalone with no real spoilers.

Fans of Reynolds previous books will love the side characters and friendships in this book. But it may come as a surprise that the relationship between Calvin and Anna is a bit slower burn than her typical couples. Because these two both have their issues with past relationships their reluctant to jump in to anything with someone new. However, once they do get together, they burn up the pages with their passion.

This story also includes a bit of a murder mystery which added to the tension between Anna and Calvin. At a point he begins to wonder if the new woman in his life can be connected to the crime he’s investigating. I love how Anna’s suport of Calvin and the way she loves him, opens his eyes to how wrong he had been about the previous woman in his life. These two deserve to be cared for and loved and I enjoyed them figuring it out together.

Overall, this is a quick steamy read with a bit of a mystery that’s great as a fun summer time read. I appreciate that this book comes from the same world as others in the series but we’re not overwhelmed with cameos from previous couples. I would highly recommend this to fans of the author or anyone that’s looking for a low angst, high heat read.

I liked the heroine, Anna. She comes from a wealthy, but cold family who just saw her as a future trophy wife. Does that really happen in this day and age? Perhaps so. Just accept the set-up. She figured out that this wasn’t for her and that she needs to escape that toxic environment and stand on her own feet. She flees to a small coast Carolina town and is happy working in a bakery with her new group of crazy senior citizen friends. Then she meets the alpha detective, Calvin. He immediately falls for her and starts trying to build a relationship with her. You can either view him as a sexy alpha whose attraction to Anna sizzles or as a bit obnoxious as he’s always manhandling her and intruding into her life. But since he’s the hero of the book, that’s all okay.

Of course, there are going to be complications, but instalust becomes instalove and that will conquer all.

And the secondary characters in the town were all quite fun.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

After realizing she doesn’t quite like her life Anna decides to look for a new outlook on life, on reflecting who she is and what she wants, love. Leaving her high class life in Chicago behind Anna finds the relaxed pace of the coastal South Carolina she moves to more her style and the new friends she meets, the “Golden Girls” are the true friends one always wants. Her initial meeting with Calvin starts off with a bang, literally, after the car she’s in crashes into his police car and while initially turned off by his brisk and bossy manner Calvin soon shows Anna that his gruff exterior hides a heart of gold. The chemistry between the two is hot but balanced with tenderness and humor. This is book three in the series and you do see familiar faces in the book but you can totally enjoy the book without having read the others (although I do recommend them too). The murder mystery twist was a nice surprise too. This is a nice quick read with a happily ever after. 5 stars must read. I received an arc copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.

This is the third and final story in this hot Alpha series and as much as I have loved the others this one was my favourite! Be still my swooning Calvin heart!

The sparks were electric from Anna and Calvin, it wasn't ARR's normal BOOM insta love but was close! The banter between them was entertaining and hot! Told in dual POV this was a sexy, fun read that you will devour quickly as once you have started you wont want to put it down.

This can be read as a standalone but you will want to read the others after reading this, plus you get to see one of the previous couples make an appearance.

I loved the golden girls, I hope I am as sassy as they are when I am their age.

This is just the book to go to when you just need something lighthearted, sweet, with a little bit of funny. The chemistry between Calvin and Anna was perfect. The dialogues were funny, but not over the top. Calvin was very charming and Anna was easy to like, although a bit too hard on herself. Their attraction was perhaps a bit too fast paced, but for a romance that will leave you smiling and let you escape for a bit, this one is just right.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Anna moves from Chicago in order to escape a life that was stifling her. She's happy in her new, life and enjoying that she is finally able to do things on her own terms instead of living her life to make her parents happy.

Calvin is an attraction that she is not expecting. He's a detective, he knows what he wants, and what he wants is Anna.

I liked that Calvin was all in to the idea of dating Anna pretty much immediately. I also liked that this was not insta-love. He didn't think she was going to be the woman he would marry from their first meeting, but his determination to get to know her never wavered.

There was something really appealing about that. And, while there is some external angst, this was really more a story about the 2 of them working out their relationship and seeing where it would go.

I enjoyed and recommend this title.
