Hooking Him is the third book in the How to Catch an Alpha series. I read the first two and loved them. I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. This is the final book in the series, and I'm going to be sad to see the characters go! This book could be read as a stand a lone. You get a glimpse to the characters from the other book, but this story lays out all the details you need for this book. This book is told from duel points of view however most of the book is told from the female's point of view.

This story is between Anna and Calvin. Anna called off her marriage from a guy she had been with for 5 years. She wasn't in love with him and was just marrying him to make her family happy by his status. She moved away and her family pretty much disowned her. She wants to find her happy. She works at a bakery and lives in a little apartment above an older lady.

Calvin is a detective going through his own falling out from the woman he thought he loved. She left him, and he has a hard time trusting women now. He meets Anna when he pulls over her landlord. He wasn't very nice to her, when she was trying to help. When he goes to apologize he realizes he has feelings for her. Anna starts to have feelings for him too.

The newspaper reporter publishes that Anna is from money and left her fiancée, and it has everyone in town wanting to get her autograph. It also brings her fiancée back into the picture. Calvin is dealing with unsolved murders. Can they handle the media from Anna's past? Can Calvin solve the murders before it's to late?

I really liked this book, as well as all the others in the series. I can't wait to read more books by this author.

Aurora Rose Reynolds does it again! She has created a magic formula with her Alpha Heroes and the sassy fierce heroines, you can’t help but fall in love.

This book is a standalone novel in a series of standalones (I know confusing but limited cross over and can be completely read on its own). The story is told mostly from Anna’s POV but we do get a couple chapters from Calvin’s. I thought the flow and pace of the story worked well. The pace of the story flowed well even this this was a slower burn coming to love relationship.
The story follows Anna and Calvin. Anna works in the same bakery as Chrissie (heroine in book 2). Anna left her life in Chicago to find her happiness. Calvin is a Detective for the local police department and has had his heart broken in the past. Neither of these characters were open to finding love. Anna and Calvin both have experienced heartache and have some trust issues to overcome before they can be all in together. This story is the perfect amount of romance and drama/suspense to make a good read.

Hooking Him was a fast fun and flirty read. I loved the added element of suspense and mystery to this story. This book had me sitting on the edge of my seat, trying to figure out the who. But it also filled with funny laugh out loud moments. I loved the quirky old ladies in this story. They added so much to the book.
AAR has a magical way she writes her alpha heroes. If you alike a strong sexy man and a female lead who is equally as strong, I would highly suggest these stories. This was a 4/5 read for me. They are not overly long and detailed books. Spending a couple hours by the pool this summer, this is the perfect light and funny read.

Basically i loved everything about this book.

I appreciated a story that started with that kind of first encounter which was an interesting and very promising one between Calvin, the detective with strong alpha vibes (so yummy that one) and Anna, the new girl in town who would definitely keep him on his toes.
I had a good time reading about Calvin and Anna falling in love, fast and going with the flow.
As true ARR’s style, boom is involved, an alpha guy who wasn’t afraid to express his feelings, protective and caring, the heroine Anna wasn’t a damsel in distress, brave for finding her own happiness, outside of her incomprehensive family.
They have a great chemistry and connection. I appreciated the development of their relationship, with tenderness and hotness, showing how it feels like to be loved and moving together forward at their own pace.
I also enjoyed the small town, with Anna’s new friends who were a crazy bunch, her job at the bakery and to see how she fit greatly. They just made me laugh a lot with their antics!
I was happy not to see much drama, just enough to keep me interested, not too overwhelming.
Full of charm, sweet and swoony!

What would you do if you realized that you were just going through the motions? Not living life, and it was more like letting life live you. Doing things that made other people happy, but not yourself. Anna realized that she was not happy and in an effort to change that fact she dropped everything, left her life behind in Chicago and is now in SC working in a bakery and living in a place that is the size of the closet she once had. Just when she thinks she has everything figured out, she meets Calvin. Is getting close to someone now a mistake, or is this one of those steps that Anna needs to achieve that goal of happiness?

Calvin and Anna's story was amazing!! I loved everything about it; the drama, the trio of little old ladies, the naughty bits. From the first paragraph I got sucked in and didn't stop until it the last word. I give this 5 stars.

Loving the continuation of this series! I absolutely love this author and her style of writing, and this book is no exception! Anna left her whole life behind after realizing that she wasn’t happy and that life wasn’t going to make her happy and walked away. Relocating to a beach town, she works a totally different job and a very different life, and is realizing how much she enjoys what she’s doing now. It’s there that she meets Calvin on a chance, after her new “older” friends get pulled over. Instant chemistry between them, Calvin decides to pursue Anna, even though she feels she’s not ready. As they continue to have chance meetings, he breaks down Anna’s walls and she gives things a chance, even though her past comes to town and threatens her relationship and new life. All through that, Calvin is in the process of investigating a series of murders and doesn’t realize how close he actually is to the answer. I loved the suspense of this storyline and was not seeing the ending coming! I was really happy that we got to see Anna and Calvin’s life years later in the epilogue to see that Anna’s big move and change was the right thing.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Definitely one of the better books I’ve read by this author! You can depend on Reynolds for light, low angst reads with loving and protective alpha males. She’s not breaking the mold with her books, but is delivering solid, easy romances that read quickly and wash away the troubles of your day. I loved this hero - he’s absolutely got some alpha tendencies (as all of Reynolds’ heroes do), but there was nothing over the top or aggressive about his actions. Just a really great guy who falls quickly, and that made this such a good read.

The story follows Anna, a woman who grew up in a wealthy family and was encouraged to become a trophy wife. She wanted to keep her parents happy, so she spent too many years with the wrong guy. After making a change to her life, Anna is now single and living in a small town, where she’s finding her own slice of happiness. Trouble seems to follow her around, which is okay because the new guy who has caught her eye is a detective. Calvin has never fallen so fast, but something about Anna just gets to him, so it’s not long before he can picture a future with her - despite all of the drama from her past.

I read this in one sitting because it flows easily and there’s never a dull moment. It’s an uncomplicated romance that doesn’t linger on any real angst, and sometimes that’s exactly what hits the spot. I loved Calvin and really appreciated that Reynolds toned him down so that nothing felt extreme. I also loved that so much of the story is told from his perspective. There’s definitely an instalove vibe, but it’s the perfect kind of light and easy read for the end of a long workday. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review of this sweet, low angst romance.

This was just what I needed at the moment. A fun, sweet, and quick read! Hooking Him is a super cute small town romance that features a great bunch of supporting characters. In typical ARR fashion, we get a great story with a little bit of drama for those who like a hint of thrill in their romances.

Here’s what I loved:
Anna and Calvin were super cute together! After an unfortunate first meet, their chemistry grows quickly. I really enjoyed these two together!

The Golden Girls were too cute! The setting is phenomenal. This is the type of book I’d like to step inside for a few days and just hang out. These ladies were a hoot and half. I laughed so hard at their antics!

The writing, plot, pace, and characters are all well formed. This is a standalone and will certainly hit the spot for fans of this phenomenal author!

Not just a boy meets girl read. No, this book is about two different worlds coming together in a meet cute way that will steam up your readers. Anna and Calvin give us a story of and unlikely but perfect for each other couple. The setting is a small town filled with everyone in each other’s business and small town charm this book is the ultimate get away from our new realities. Throwing in a dash of danger and mystery, I was transported out of my house to a world where their is excitement near the beach and a hottie that will make the nights even hotter.
Now every good book has to have more than just romance and mystery! Eddie and her friends throw in that dash of comedy that will have you thinking of the Golden Girls and laughing till your pee your pants. So be warned!
An extremely entertaining and romantic book!

If there was ever an ARR book meant to be made into a movie it’s this one!!!

Anna and Calvin come together beautifully in this book. Their chemistry is off the charts hot. Their witty banter leaves you laughing. Their depth of love for each other is beautiful.

Anna’s new take on life is something I can appreciate. Having all the money and materialistic things in the world can never truly make you happy. It’s the people in your life that fill you up with happiness that matters most. Your true friends and family should only fill you up with love and not leave you feeling empty and alone like Anna’s has. Seeing her taking steps to be who she truly is within herself is the most brave thing anyone could do. It’s that beauty on the inside that made a hot detective fall head over heels.

Calvin is the hot detective in town. He had no plans on falling in love or meeting Anna but from the first moment he opened his big mouth and tried to bring her to heel like a dog we all knew he would fall in love with her sassiness. Calvin has a hard career has a detective and Anna is amazing with him. She has shown Calvin that a real woman will be there to support him at every turn. Her heart is beyond anything he has seen with the exception of his mother and he will do whatever it takes to lock her down.

I love ARR’s style and she is one of my favorite authors to date I have ever read. She brings me the best pick me up stories to get me through when I need a mixture of laughter and love. Another story hit out of the ball park!

Aurora Rose Reynolds is the kind of person/author that made me believe in happily ever after.
Her books are about soulmates, chemistry, respect and love which are a big yes for me when I select a book. That's the reason why she's one of my top 3 authors.
Hooking Him is a well written book with a strong willed heroine and an Alpha male hero. Their connection is there from the beginning but it progress slowly which is more realistic by the way. No matter what I couldn't keep myself from sighing by reading each chapter. It's a book that you can devour again and again.
So...if you believe in soulmates and HEA this is your book

Actual Rating: 4.5 Stars!
bookboyfriendsdoitbetter.com (added a small spoiler section that isn't really a spoiler, just my favorite quote at the end of my review on my blog!)

In ARR's most recent books, this has the most suspense and mystery --makes sense since Calvin is a detective-- and I really really enjoyed that! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time trying to guess who it was! ( I did guess who it was early on but I still enjoyed this side plot and as I've said before, it doesn't bother me when I guess correctly)

"'I think I love you,' I say, then cover my face and groan. 'I mean that in the friendliest way possible.'"

The banter between Calvin and Anna is everything! Compared to ARR's usual insta-love, this is very slow --for her-- and I really was not expecting that. I really enjoyed the time the connection between Anna and Calvin took. Neither of them was looking to find someone but they found each other and I can't even with the feels. I always read books about how the love interests makes the other person laugh even when really deep emotional stuff --and other stuff *wink wink* -- is happening; this book is that feeling. The characters made me laugh even when things weren't great for them and I want to reread immediately.

"'How did you become friends with the Golden Girls?'"

The side characters were hilarious and I want my own Edie, Dixie, and Pearl! I love how the book started with them and it had me laughing whenever they showed up. We do see the couples from the previous two books but unlike some of her other series, they do not show up that much. I found this refreshing because, while yeah, you might become friends with your friend's friends (how many times can I say friends), it doesn't mean that you'll be best friends with all of them.

Aurora Rose Reynolds was the first-ever romance author I ever read and followed --her books, not her personally lol. Her books are always a great pick-me-up and never disappoint! She doesn't release her books as quickly as other authors I love so I always make sure to savor her books.

Hooking Him was no different, I loved it! And once you know the meaning of the title it is so cute and adorable!!

I am loving the How to Catch an Alpha series by Aurora Rose Reynolds! Hooking Him brings us Anna and Calvin. I loved these two characters. They seem pretty opposite at first glance but we quickly find out how much they are actually alike. I can't wait to read the next in this series!

This is the third book in the series and I enjoyed just as the first book or maybe even a little more..I loved Calvin and Anna. I had to give it to Anna to let go of her toxic surrounding with supposedly the people who have your back or your love. Anna leaves he rich family, her good paying job, and her fiance of 5 years. Anna started a new life after realizing how shallow her life was, and meets the Golden Girls, and let me just say that I love those old woman they were hilarious. Calvin has been stuck in a rut, he loves his job however since his ex left him hanging 5 years ago he has no interest in dating, until he meets Anna. These two were made for each other, and we had a little interesting scenario going on besides their new love affair. Hates Anna's parents and her supposed friend, however I got to appreciate Lance after his quick stupidity I felt like her redeemed himself.

The Queen of the Boom is back!

So what do we have here?

Anna has escaped to South Carolina from Chicago to find out who she really is and just wants to be happy.

She has her gaggle of girls aka the Golden Girls and even though they are in their 70's they still know how to live life to the full.

Then we have Calvin Miller, cop, never really dated since his relationship broke down.

What we had here was drama, secrets, toxic pasts, sexy times and escapades of the Golden Girls and it was amazing!

This is book 3 in the series and my new favorite. It stars two brand new characters in the series. Anna is the newcomer to town. She is a former heiress who now works at the bakery. And we meet Calvin, a cop in town who ends up meeting Anna when he gives her a ticket.

It is not love at frst sight for these two but more of they drive each other crazy instead, however they are so much fun and I loved how his mom gets involved and tries to matchmake. I loved how even though Calvin has an ex that hurt him, that he wants Anna so much that he chases her around town until she gives him a shot.

This was a fun and hot romance with lots of laughs and hijinks and I absolutely adored it. There is some drama with Anna's family and her ex fiancee and a stalker and murderer but those are small blips in the story. The story is centered on Anna and Calvin and I loved how sweet they are together.

Anna loves living in a small coastal town. It's such a vast difference from when she was in Chicago. The peace and quiet is exactly what she needed. She just wants to find her happiness...whatever that may be.

I absolutely loved this book! I have loved this entire series and Anna and Calvin's story is just as appealing and enthralling as the others. I loved every word of this book!! Calvin's bossy, alpha, and sexiness oozes from him. Anna is so sweet and sassy! I just love her quirkiness and her relationship with the older ladies in town. I absolutely fell in love with this couple and their journey! I couldn't stop reading!

If you love, over the top, insta-love, with bossy/sassy characters, then you are going to fall head over heels for Anna and Calvin! This is an absolute MUST READ!!

Another great read by Aurora Rose Reynolds!! I absolutely love her Alpha Heroes and the sassy yet fierce heroines that they fall in love with. She always gives us the perfect mix of Alpha possessive and man with a heart of gold.

Hooking Him was another sexy, fun and entertaining read. This is a standalone novel that is told in Dual POV!! I loved that she added an element of suspense and mystery to this story. This book had me sitting on the edge of my seat, trying to figure out who did it?? But it also was like the other books in this series and had me laughing out loud. I loved the “golden girls”….they were so much fun!!!

This book is a standalone novel that is told primarily from Anna’s POV but we do get a couple chapters from Calvin’s. I thought the flow and pace of the story worked well. Normally ARR does the insta-love connection in her books, but this one was a little slower, not much, but a little…lol :) Both Anna and Calvin had some trust issues to over come so it was nice watching that play out over the course of the story.

I loved Anna and Calvin’s story. It was sweet and romantic with just the right amount of drama and suspense to keep you intrigued. This is the third and final book in ARR’s How to Catch An Alpha series. It follows Anna and Calvin. Anna works in the same bakery as Chrissie (heroine in book 2). She left her life in Chicago to find her happiness. Calvin is a Detective for the local police department and has had his heart broken in the past. Neither of these characters were open to finding love. Both had some trust issues. I loved watching their love story play out!!

As I have said in the past, ARR is an author that when they release a book you don’t even need to know what it’s about, you just know it will be fantastic and you go in blind because they never let you down. I never have to read a blurb of her books, because I know I am going to get an Alpha Hero and a sassy heroine and a love story that will make me swoon and smile. I will read anything she writes!!!

If you haven’t read an ARR book and love an Alpha Hero and a story that has interesting storylines and off the charts chemistry….then you need to read one of her books.

I was apprehensive starting this book I admit. The last two offerings from the authour left me bland, whereas I am usually in love. But my worry was for naught because this was a wonderful love story with just a wee but of extraneous drama

Hooking Him as a title had me a little confused, was it in reference to rugby? Crochet? Rock climbing? Hang in there, it all becomes clear at the end of the book! Anna moves to a small town to escape the life she was led to believe she needed to live. Taken in by her geriatric neighbour and her trouble causing friends, it is not long before she meets our hero, Calvin, a detective in their town. Attraction is instant and chemistry sizzles. As expected, our alpha male lays his claim and it takes a bit for our heroine to catch up. I would have been happy with just the development of the relationship but there was a crime to solve that was loosely a mystery, I mean, I figured it out pretty quickly, and I didn’t find it added anything to the storyline, but it didn’t take away either, it was just there. Loved the sizzle, loved the support, loved the alpha-ness, and loved the happily-ever-after!

Is there any surprise here? I love ARR and have enjoyed every book in this series. These characters were cute and I had a good time reading about them falling in love.

I really enjoyed our main character, Anna. I can respect a person who is willing to leave it all behind if they aren’t happy. She was an heiress who was engaged to a man she didn’t love and had a terrible family. She realized she wasn’t happy and walked away from it all. I feel like Calvin was really good for Anna. He showed her what being loved and cared for could feel like.

Besides our main characters, we were given some very funny side characters. This neighborhood had its own version of the Golden Girls. They were so damn funny and brought humor to the story.

Overall, I enjoyed this one! I don’t know if there will be more in this series, but I sure hope so!
