Learn ABCs and Mindfulness
This is a simple alphabet book that has the words taken from the mindfulness concept, like heart, gratitude, and yes, mindful. As these are often not simple words like most ABC books, the parent or caregiver might have to explain some words. But, of course, a book like this lends itself to doing what some words describe. The illustrations are simple and almost remind me of felt cutouts that I made as a child; like they are illustrations of these. They felt a little simple to me, but a young child may prefer that. I do think it's a splendid idea to teach children about mindfulness from a young age, and a simple alphabet like book like this could be another tool to use.
This is very cute, but definitely aimed more at adults to be seen to be a bit gimmicky, if it was their to teach babies about calm it feels a bit too bright and needs to be muted, as I say a cute idea but didn’t seem to fit the bill for me
A lovely ABC book.. Full of beautiful pictures and words. I think that children would enjoy this book with a grown up so they can explain the words or talk about the pictures. Thank you for the opportunity to review this book.
A stunning book with lovely illustrations and easy to read with young children and engaging
Would be a lovely gift for a 2+ child to enjoy over time
I love the that this book manages to follow a specific theme of words! Really helpful for children and/or English learners that they have the opportunity to look in picture books like these to extend their vocabulary with the support of these wonderful pictures!
What a cute ABC for little learners. To give a sense, A is for Aware; D is for Dream; I is for inspired; P is for Patience, and so it goes til Z is for Zen. This one is for parents who do their mindfulness to share with their babies. In addition to the peaceful words, there are sweet illustrations.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.
I requested and received an e-ARC of this book from NetGalley and Quatro Publishing Group in exchange for my honest opinion.
I really like how the Baby Love books introduce children to larger words enabling them to improve their vocabularies. The words in this book are all related to mindfulness and as kids get older these words can help you start conversations about each word, what it means and how you can implement that action/word.
Baby Loves: Calm is a cute take on the alphabet for toddlers. With parental stress bleeding into the lives of little ones, this book can be used for toddlers and parents to begin practicing mindfulness. Let’s share our calm with our children. The illustrations are beautiful!
Thank you to the Quarto Group and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was very much loved by my 3 year old and me. A beautiful book about calm, where the illustrations really do bring about a sense of tranquility through their simple style, yet deliciously delicate hues. Although the book title says 'Baby Loves' I feel this book would be suitable for all preschoolers. Babies will enjoy the imagery, while for older children each picture makes a great discussion point about what it is and what it means. There was certainly some new vocabulary that my 3 year old loved such as 'Karma' and 'Zen' - perfect for your little logophiles. #BabyLovesCalm #NetGalley Thanks NetGalley and Quarto Group/ Frances Lincoln Children's Books for the digital review copy.
A very sweet, mellow alphabet book. This mindful and calm take on teaching what the letters stand for is lovely to look at - all subdued and earthy tones to match the topic - and a nice little read. Some words are a bit advanced for those learning the alphabet for the first time, but would be a nice little conversation starter with older kids and no harm introducing the words to those who may not use them for a while anyway.
This was an stunning alphabet book that uses words related to calm and mindfulness to spell out the alphabet (well apart from X which was explore...)
I adored the illustrations and felt calm and happy when reading it to my son and had fun explaining the meaning of some of the words and the concept of calm.
Simple and gentle, this ABC book introduces little ones to the concepts of mindfulness. The illustrations are happy and colorful.
I received an electronic ARC from Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books through NetGalley.
ABCs book that uses emotion based words and pictures to help families focus on calming times. Some of the words may be above a toddler's level but the feelings will come through when read together.
Simple pictures capture the sense of calm and peace being emphasized.
This non-fiction book in the Baby Loves series is a definite gift idea for young families.
Baby Loves: Calm is another book in Jenny Broom's series for toddlers. This lovely little book centres around mindfulness. It has bright, happy illustrations and teaches children their ABC's in a unique way. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my copy.
A sweet look at healthy concepts for little ones while teaching the alphabet! Z is for zen! Definitely recommend.
Beautiful, simple ABC book for young children with a focus on mindfulness. I loved the drawings and word examples used.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC.
My 7 year old enjoyed this book. She said the book made her feel peaceful and calm.
I like the words used throughout the book and I think the drawings are nicely done. Since it has the alphabet, you can also use the words and sort of flash cards to teaching your little one new words for reading.
Cute book about areas and things to focus on in order to bring calm to your little one. I would have liked to see more of the words featured have a more direct link with the idea of calm, and maybe colors that were lighter to give a calming effect.
This is such a lovely book and one many of us need at the moment during lockdown. It's a very simple A-Z book, themed around being calm, relaxing and mindfulness. From A for aware to Z for zen, it's a wonderful reminder for us to pause, breathe and embrace the simple things around us. I feel like this would be the perfect gift for a new mum, to read to the baby when he/she needs calming but also to help Mum feel calm on some of those really hard days.
This was such a cute book that both my daughter and I really enjoyed! It is such a simple idea with very cute pictures but so important to remember.
