A European attempt to make the American government look like buffoons. I was down with the skewering America rightfully deserves until the author ventured into 911 is an inside job territory. Thousands of Americans died that day in a terrorist attack and I don't find it at all funny to suggest they were killed by their own government, an administration that was way too incompetent to pull off something like that in the first place. There's a reason why this took 15 years to get translated to English. It's not funny and it's very dated, especially when there is a real buffoon in the office currently.
For all people who think book reviewers have an easy life, I bring to you a comic about how thick and shit the American President is, but not this one – as easy as it is, books about him have generally not succeeded whatsoever in showing how bad he may be. No, this is one against a fictional, equivalent-not-available, POTUS, and it's taken a mere fourteen whole years to be translated into English, and three after that to pop up on netgalley. (And the series of four of these things is so bad they still haven't bothered translating the final one.) Hidden away like the baddest of news, then, we find a comedy-free snooze-fest, and another notch on the bedpost marked "books like these get translated with the speed they deserve". Try it yourself, for it's seldom wrong – if it's been rushed into a language foreign to the creators it's potentially great, if it's taken more time in the works than any of Trump's dodgy marriages, then you know a bargepole might be needed. Here, it certainly was. Doctor Strangelove it ain't.
This series of comics pokes fun at the US presidency. It doesn't single out any president in particular although the current president could have several volumes based on his presidency alone.
It is satirical and funny and the artwork was ok. I can't say that it was a huge hit for me but it is an ok read.

'Mister President' by Clarke is a graphic novel about the United States as seen from afar.
The United States of America can be odd from the inside sometimes. It must look much stranger from the outside. This collection of cartoons show the antics of previous presidents. From alien cover ups, to sex scandals, to terrorist bombing press conferences.
There are no particular likenesses or names given, but the comics seem to be based on events of 20+ years ago. I still had a few laughs at the expense of my country.
I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Europe Comics and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.
