I found this to be an interesting story. The descriptions are great and the characters are very realistic. I enjoyed this story and will be looking for more books by this author.

If you like a story set in a small English village, you're sure to love this book by Jan Menell. I had not read the previous book, but had no trouble catching up. The book has some very interesting characters, not all of them are human! Lots of humour, and also a lot of information about the practice of midwifery.

I loved this book but was really sad to see it was the second in the series as i hate reading books out of synch. Reminded me a bit like Darling buds of May. I will need to get the first book now and probably skim read this one again

New reviewer here! I really enjoyed this book. It is lovely and heartwarming and full of quirky characters that keep you following their story. The book has an old fashioned feel with a fun loving main character full of heart. Looking forward to the next book from Jan Menell!

Maggie is a midwife and after a few miscarriages she decides to just accept that she would only have 1 child. She keeps on taking loads of abandoned animals. She just keeps thinking about the loss of Charlie had on her life and life of the villagers
