Sadly this book just wasnt for me. I had trouble connecting with the characters and the story felt like it was dragging a little bit.

The book was well written and whilst it wasnt for me, I'm sure a lot of people will enjoy it!

Swipe Right is a perfect book for all the chick-lit readers.

We have a workspace romance with two characters that go from enemies to friends and at the end to lovers. When they meet Fran and Ollie are competing for the same job position. They both get it. The obvious chemistry has to take a back seat because both of them have a significant other. Halfway through this book, we get to the "dating" aspect of the story as then our heroine breaks up with her boyfriend and starts dating on Tinder and writing for a blog about those dates. There are many issues that I had with this book. Most of it all is that the title is a bit misleading as dating is not really a premise or plot of this book. Then there is the fact that Oliver is pursuing Fran at the beginning very strongly but as the story progresses, we learn not only that he has a girlfriend but he is very indecisive. So I am a bit confused. Which way is it? As the story develops my feeling towards characters changed. But at the end of it all, I have to say this is a very realistic novel. So all issues previously mention don't have to be that AT ALL. It makes characters more genuine and palpable.

If you enjoy chick-lit, especially British chick-lit then I would recommend this book to you.
The dating part and dialogue was also very believable.

Thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of the book in exchange for an honest review!

This was enjoyable.

The plot was similar to rom-coms'. Nothing too special, but it did have it's unique and fun elements. It dragged on for quite a long time, which made it difficult to get into. The writing was decent. It served the purpose. The characters were probably the best part. The main character was pretty frustrating for a while but she got more enjoyable as the story went on. The love interest was actually my favorite part. He was so sweet!

I was granted approval for this book less than 6 hours before the archive date so I was unable to download it. I was looking forward to properly reading and reviewing this title, but I didn't get the chance. Thank you to Netgalley and Hera Books.

I instantly connected with Fran and Ollie as soon as we meet them. Fran is definitely someone who I would be friends with in the real world. She swears, drinks, smokes and yes I know it’s not good for you but come on! This is the real world.

I was quite envious of Fran and Ollie’s work environment. Going out for lunches and drinks after work. People bringing in pastries for breakfast, it’s one big happy team. I did have my doubts about Fran doing the dating column and whilst some of my doubts were proven right, it does make for some seriously fun reading. Especially one such date of which I will say no more so as not to spoil it for others.

There is a blossoming relationship of sorts growing throughout the story. The readers can see it but it takes the characters a bit longer so you get a, will they ever get it together vibe.

Swipe Right was the perfect read in these uncertain times that brought some much welcomed relief. Fran’s story kept me wholly engaged and had me shaking my head and laughing at some of her antics. There was also the odd times where I wanted to give her a great big hug. A fun and light hearted read.

I'm a big fan of modern romance, and so I was thrilled when I received a free copy of this book from the publisher. Overall, I found it to be enjoyable most of the time. I found myself struggling to connect with the main characters, and Ollie seemed a bit mysogenistic at times. It was a comforting read, though, given the times. Thank you to NetGalley and Hera publishing for the advance copy!

Blissfully brilliant! I loved reading about the budding friendship between Fran and Ollie and as for Fran’s Tinder experience, hilarious. A great, lighthearted read. Thank you netgalley!

NOTE: I received a free advance readers copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A smash-up of Bridget Jones, When Harry Met Sally and 21st century dating apps. This is a light quick read where you know exactly how it is going to end but enjoy the ride. I feel like the conflict at the climax of the book could have been a bit more tense and uncertain but regardless, it was a perfect read as I socially distance (reading this during Spring 2020 when we are staying in-place for coronavirus safety).

I absolutely loved this book. At first, I thought this would be a classic they meet, they both have significant others, then they break up and get together-- but this was anything but. From the beginning, I was intrigued by Fran and Ollie's respective relationships, and why they both were so committed when everyone else could see why they were perfect for each other. This was one of those books that perfectly described what happens when you meet the perfect person at the wrong time, and the years of events that can happen!

This is my first book by this writer. It's a terrific rom-com. The characters are great. The chemistry between the main characters is terrific. It's funny, witty and sassy. What a great story to read during quarantine... or anytime really....

I enjoyed this book. It is a lighthearted, modern and fun rom-com. A great pick me up in the Covid 19 lockdown. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

Meh. It started fine but the love interest didn't really do it for me. The pacing was a little hard for me too. I kind of lost interest by the end. Other people may enjoy it but just not for me.

A not-so-guilty pleasure of mine has always been to sit down with a good rom-com, whether it's a film or a book, I just absolutely love it. Swipe Right is an adorable, modern, British romantic comedy, set in a Buzzfeed-esque office, and tells the story of two people absolutely meant for each other, and yet continue to find themselves unavailable or downright unwilling to explore their feelings. It's very "When Harry Met Sally", and I loved it a lot. It made me laugh so many times, and admittedly had me feeling pretty heartbroken in others. I thought the relationship between Fran and Ollie was perfectly written, and it felt so real in the struggles they found themselves in. I found the book easy to read and I fell completely in love with the characters, especially the side characters working in the office, I loved the whole work-family dynamic, it was wonderful. The only thing I wish we'd gotten was more of Fran and Ollie's relationship at the end. Because we'd spent and entire book just waiting and waiting and wishing for them to get together, I really wanted to explore some of their relationship. But that's absolutely just me being selfish and not wanting to let the characters go, so this might not necessarily be a problem for everyone!

Overall, this was such a fun read and if you're in the market for a very British, adorable rom-com, I would absolutely recommend! Thank you so much to Hera Books for sending me this, loved every second!

Thank you NetGalley and Stephie Chapman for an egalley of this book in exchange for an honest review. As expected, I loved this! It was funny and raw and well written. I continued to cheer for Fran and Ollie throughout all the mishaps that they endured. What I found unique about this book is the ending. We get the idea that they’re going to work and start anew, but we are left wondering what is next; it’s a happy ending without telling us exactly what that looks like for this couple. I hope there is a second book where we get more info maybe from a few years later. I think the premise of their jobs was also a nice touch, but I do wish we received more of them working together. Overall, an amazing read! I will highly recommend.

This book was cute...not super exciting. I wonder if I would have liked it more if I had ever seen When Harry Meets Sally? I also felt like I couldn't relate to the characters and the modern dating world. I met my husband on match.com, but things have changed so much in the dating world from just 10 years ago.

This is a very easy, fun read. I wouldn’t say it’s my usual kind of book but enjoyable all the same. I’d describe it as a Sunday afternoon read

Swipe Right is a perfect rom com! It’s the story of Ollie and Fran! Two people who meet and have an instant connection! To say this story is about love at first sight, is not completely true! It is also about destiny, and soulmates! There’s an old saying “there’s a lid for every pot”. The story of Ollie and Fran makes you believe in love!
Fran reminds us how tough and sometimes judgmental society can be towards single women! Ollie reminds us that there are good guys out there! This book was a delight! Well written, funny and romantic!

Swipe Right focuses on Fran, a twenty-something woman who during an interview meets a very attractive and infuriating guy called Ollie with whom sparks fly that get’s them both the job. They’re both in relationships but still they can’t help falling in love and their time never seems to be right.

I picked this book up on the premise it seemed fun. Timing was never right and even after Fran’s relationship ends, she winds up writing a blog of bad Tinder dates? I love books where the MC is writing on her dating experiences so this should have been so funny and perfect for me. But instead it felt like a slog.

For one thing, it takes almost half the book to actually get to the Tinder portion and then even further for Ollie to leave on his round the world trip. These important plot points mentioned on the summary? Not as focused on as you might think. Which leads to everything up to it feeling like build up. If the characters were better, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. But I couldn’t get behind Ollie as a love interest. He was such a dick. Her first boyfriend wasn’t any good either. She needed to get away from his gaslighting. But Ollie takes her ideas at work and runs with them when it’s time to share them, he tells her that straight men and women can’t be friends as even if they aren’t attracted to eachother they’ll still wanna sleep together and even asks her at one point if she’s on her period when she’s mad at him. He keeps doing stuff and then being all ‘oh, I’m sorry I was a dick’ but it’s just too often

“I might have A Type, and that type might well be Bellend.”

Fran in Swipe Right by Stephie Chapman

Yeah, this quote really says it all about the romance in this book.

On the bright side of things, Chapman’s writing was very engaging. Even though I wasn’t a fan of the story, I did keep turning the pages. Chapman has some nice ways of phrasing scenes and some great ideas. This book wasn’t for me but I’m pretty sure I’ll still be checking out Chapman’s later books. I want to see more of her writing as I feel like my dislike of the characters and relationships is just a personal thing. It’s definitely the sort of book that might appeal to other people who don’t mind those aspects of the plot being spread out a bit further than you might expect.

My favourite thing was definitely the working environment. I liked the people she worked with and would love to work at a place like ViralHive. Chapman made the place so appealing and I definitely get people not assuming content work isn’t real work. I haven’t had that very often when I did that sort of thing but people definitely think less of it. Which sucks as it’s actually a really fun sort of job.

So I didn’t really enjoy this book but I did still give it a higher rating than you might expect for the good aspects

The first thing that drew my attention to this book was the beautiful and colorful cover. As I start reading it, I soon realize that it was more than a usual love story.

All of the events that happen throughout the book, are so interesting and relevant to understand how a relationship between two “complicated” people can develop into something more.

I loved how the author wrote realistic situations, as I felt (more than once) that the characters were acting just like I would do, if I were in their shoes.
