'My First Mahatma Gandhi' is a wonderful introduction to the life of Gandhi for young readers. The book presents Gandhi's story in a simple and engaging manner, making it accessible and inspiring for children. I'd recommend this book for elementary school libraries.
Like other books in this series, it is a fun little introduction to inspiring people. Definitely a great way to introduce kids to biographies and a nice read for adults too. I would recommend all the books in this series.
I love reading these books and collecting them for my children, so I always purchase a physical copy. This collection is so special, and plays a vital role in educating children (and adults!) about important and significant people in our world's history.
I would like to thank NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this ebook.
This must be the 5th or 6th book that I am reading from the Little People Big Dreams series and as usual, it doesn't disappoint. They make perfect gifts for all those curious little kids out there.
This is a great series to use with younger graders to introduce biographies. Great choice for independent reading and as a mentor text for writing biographies and doing beginning stages of research. Another great addition to the series.
Mahatma Gandhi by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara is another release in the Little People, Big Dreams series, which I have reviewed frequently on here. I just love these little books. They are always packed with facts about the person who they are writing about and full of colourful illustrations throughout.
"As a young teenager in India, Gandhi led a rebellious life and went against his parents' values. But as a young man, he started to form beliefs of his own that harked back to the Hindu principles of his childhood. Gandhi began to dream of unity for all peoples and religions. Inspired by this idea, he led peaceful protests to free India from British rule and unite the country—ending violence and unfair treatment. His bravery and free-thinking made him one of the most iconic people of peace in the world, known as Mahatma, meaning "great soul." Babies and toddlers will love to snuggle as you read to them the engaging story of this amazing activist, and will also enjoy exploring the stylish and quirky illustrations of this sturdy board book on their own".
I am so glad these books are being published and I highly recommend all of these books These Books are great for the classroom for small children to learn about famous people the fun way.
Many thanks to Frances Lincoln Children’s Books and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I liked this book. The illustrations were nicely done and I think this would be a good book to read to an older toddler and child.
My family read this together and learned a lot. It was easy to read and packed with history. Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and share this book with friends and family.
Mahatma Gandhi is another fantastic addition to my favourite series of children's non-fiction books.
Although I did know that as a young man Mohandas Gandhi studied law in England, I didn't know he later worked in South Africa and protested against racial discrimination and injustice towards Indians there. The text in the book is extremely accessible and can be followed by very young children.
Thank you to NetGalley and Frances Lincoln Children's Books for the ARC provided in exchange for an honest opinion.
This is such a remarkable series. I already purchased some of the volumes for my library.
And I am sure going to buy more.
With this books you got that chance to get to communicate even with small children about some real and special people.
And in times likes these it is so important to teach our kids that there have been people, with ideas and dreams who worked hard and get the job done, no matter what.
I really, really love those books and I love working with them and bring some kids to dream of what they can accomplish if the only try.
So thank you for letting me read those.
This is a short book, but is packed with facts about the life of Gandhi as well as the reasons for his peaceful protests. It's length and simple pictures make it great for a classroom read-aloud. It's a wonderful addition to the Little People, BIG DREAMS series of biographies for children.
I just love Mahatma Gandhi .He is the one who got us Indians our swaraj(independence).Without him it would have been different.
He advocated the doctrine of ahimsa throughout his life .His teachings are so relevant in the modern era.
As soon as I saw this book I instantly requested it .
Highly recommend this series to help teach the kiddos about people who have made a difference in the world.
*Thankyou Netgalley and the publisher for providing me a free copy of this book in exchange for a honest review*
I absolutely adore this collection of books, making famous history so accessible for young readers. In this case, Mahatma Gandhi and his work with civil rights in India.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an Advanced Readers Copy in exchange for an honest review.
Another great addition to the Little People, BIG DREAMS collection.
This time we get a very condensed biography of Mahatma Gandhi. Although it was short and sweet there were a few tidbits of information that I learned for the first time while reading this book and I was compelled to learn more.
These biographies are age appropriate; inspiring and interesting, but not overwhelming. They have bright, beautiful illustrations, striking covers, and look great on a shelf together.
Thank you to the publisher and #NetGalley for an advanced copy.
We absolutely adored this book! It was so wonderful to learn about a special and very important person in history. Ada was very interested and loved learning about him. We then talked about the difference between a peaceful protest and really used it as an opportunity to learn, during the current times. We loved the book and history, and the illustrations were lovely. It is a beautiful addition to this series.
Our 2nd Little People, BIG DREAMS book this week. This one tells the story of Gandhi, targeted specifically for the littles. This short picture book is full of appealing illustrations depicting key moments in Gandhi's life from his childhood in India, through his young adult times in South Africa, and later his time in India. We learn of his work to help fight for the rights of the Indian people. The story is written in a way that is understandable to my kindergartener. I highly recommend this series to help teach the kiddos about people who have made a difference in the world.
Another great non-fiction picture book in the Little People, BIG DREAMS series.
I didn't know much about Mahatma Gandhi as he wasn't a figure discussed much in the history classes I taught. Most of what I know is from the news, YouTube and vague references in other works. It was great to be able to pick up a little book and learn something! Even adults can learn from these children picture books. That's a great thing about this series!
I will advise readers to remember that these books are for children and introduce historical figures. Gandhi was not perfect or a saint, he was human, but we don't need to teach young children (that's the market segmentation for this book, by the way) about all the bad in the world. Give them some information about the individual and let them do more research after.
I adore this series, and I totally recommend picking this up if you want to add some non-fiction picture books to your shelves! They are short, sweet, and packed full of useful information. These books make non-fiction biographies fun for kids!
Four out of five stars.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for providing me a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.
This title is another entry in the inspiring series on famous men and women. This entry on Gandhi is another winner that will find a welcome spot on young children's bookshelves.
Gandhi is portrayed as an idealist who dreamed of a better world. However, he also saw the world with its flaws. Gandhi's contributions and biography are detailed in this beautifully illustrated book. Anyone who reads this book and thinks about peaceful protest will recognize the contributions of this man who abhorred racism and the mistreatment of his fellows.
This book is highly recommended. It is a book for our time and, hopefully, will influence our youngest as they grow. Mahatma means "great soul." This man certainly had one.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.
Great book. I love this biographies for children. They are especially useful when teaching about biographies. Students need more biographies on their reading levels.
Could give more information about Gandhi. However I did enjoy it overall and the illustrations were enjoyable. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this digital review copy.
