A really good book
I really enjoyed the mystery element. The ending was very good even though I guessed it.
Overall a good read

Loved the twists and turns in this one and I read it in two sittings. Can't wait to read more from the author!

Belle writes extraordinary well, and this is now different. I love her books. At once gripping and terrifying in equal measure, she has the psychological thriller down Pat- a brilliant read.

Hadn't read anything by this author before and certainly wasn't disappointed. Day to day lives of the rich seem just as mundane as our own, apart from history repeating itself!

This was an enthralling thriller with a twists after twists, turns after turns, that you aren't ready for and/or didn't see coming! You will find yourself completely and utterly mesmerised and captivated by the story!

New wife Charlie/Charlotte discovers a body floating in the lake near her home, exactly where husband Paul’s first wife was found, four years earlier. Loved the start of this, thought it would be an exhilarating ride but it just plodded along, especially when it kept going back in time with Jax and after a couple of those I just skipped the rest of his chapters. Was Paul a rich man??! Don’t know how many times this was mentioned, the large lakeside house, the cash.... The characters were unbelievable in what they did and said. I did like the style of writing so would be happy to try another story by this author. This one, well it passes the time.

Chilling and totally mesmerising this book holds your attention from the very first page. I found it one of my favourite reads this year. Well worth buying a copy.

Wow! This book just blew me away! A fantastic, atmospheric thriller set in a small lake town in North Carolina. A place where everyone knows your name and your business, but not always your secrets.

When Charlie (now Charlotte) from the ‘wrong side of the tracks’ meets Paul (from the affluent part of town) whilst working at the local gas station, they soon fall in love. Everyone, even her good friend Sam a local police officer cautions against their marriage, how is it ever going to work, two people from completely different worlds and the small matter of Paul’s first wife Catherine being found under the dock in the lake behind their house - which Sam still thinks Paul had something to do with. However, the one person Charlotte can rely on for support is her brother Chet.

But when another woman’s body is found in the same place as Paul’s wife, Charlotte has questions. Why doesn’t Paul want the police to know that he was talking to the mystery woman in town, when Charlotte saw it herself.

As Charlotte starts learning how little she knows about her new husband and what lengths him and his friends are willing to go to she finds that maybe money and security are everything.

Firstly, I’d like to thank Net Galley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.

This was the first book I had read by this author. It is a good story, but I didn’t find it “gripping”. The characters are OK, but a bit two dimensional. They had no depth. I liked the relationship that the main character, Charlotte, had with her brother, Chet, though, whom she brought up almost on her own.

There are a few twists and turns, but overall, a bit underwhelming.

How well do you know your husband? A question Charlotte is now asking herself. A good thriller with plenty of twists. Personally I found it a bit long but it is a good story. My

I am a huge Kimberly Belle fan and always look forward to her books. Whilst not a favourite, Stranger in The Lake kept me gripped as I read it in one full sitting. The twists and turns came so fast towards the end that my head was spinning and the ending was worth that build up for me. None of the characters were particularly likeable though, Charlie was the best of a bad lot but I did love her brother Chet-he seemed to shine off the page whenever he was on it. The storyline wasn’t as predictable as expected so that bumped up the rating from a 3 to a 4 for me.

# Stranger In The Lake # Netgalley

I was intrigued by the storyline of this book, especially when Charlotte as seen her husband to the the deceased women, and his first wife having died in a similar way. I think most people would run for the hills. Not Charlotte she decides to stay to try and find out what’s going on because she knows full well her husband as lied. It’s not a book that actually gripped me not by a long way. Although a good storyline. There where times I had to put the book down. I can not say I was eager to rush back to the book. For me personally. I thought it was a average read. It would be a sad world we lived in if we all thought the same. Still although I say a average read. It did have one excellent storylines I have found in awhile. I would definitely say give it a whirl. We don’t always like the same things.

A little bit too predictable for me! The story was gripping and Kimberly Belle's writing is great, but the ending was just eh: disappointing unfortunately and unnecessarily long.

This was an excellent read.
I really took my time savouring this book and my enjoyment of it grew and grew as the story continued!

I loved the mystery surrounding who killed the stranger in the lake, and why was she murdered.
I loved how the book set us up to suspect Paul and showed Charlotte's initial reaction to stand by him no matter what but as the plot deepened she was forced to question her trust in him.

The ending was excellent even if I did guess it... However that second ending I only got as it unfolded.

The only downside for me were the flashback parts of the book as I felt like I didn't care about Jax's character. This isnt due to bad writing I just didn't really care about him as a character until 70% of the way into the story so those sections were a little underwhelming...

Overall an amazing story, definitely one to pick up!

Sadly I just did not enjoy this read. There was something missing from it and I never connected to the plot or the characters. I was bored and could not wait for it to end. To be honest I am surprised I did finish this.
The characters are forgettable just like the plot.
Just a real let down.

I loved the fact that this book is told in two time lines! There are lots of twists and although some things that happen are predictable it's a really good read!

This is a decently written murder mystery but the characters are two dimensional at best and unbelievable at worst. I failed to engage with any of them and found Paul completely repellent and his wife, Charlotte weak, which didn’t follow from her trailer upbringing by a selfish drug addict and her having to bring up her brother from a baby - surely this alone would have given her some backbone? The law enforcers were stereo typical and quite frankly farcical. There were moments of tension however and I liked the skipping between the two timelines. I felt the denouement was the only outcome that was possible and therefore lacked drama. Maybe I’m reading too many murder/mystery whodunnit books so I’m getting a little jaded. Not an awful book but not a great one either.

I asked for this book having read previous Kimberley Belles novels
To start with it was quite atmospheric, shades of a Brontë novel, poor girl married widower.
It continued, introducing a variety of characters and puzzling behaviours then...oh dear I got bored.
It didn't matter that. Paul had lied ,then disappeared or what happened to make Jax batty, etc I just couldn't care for the characters or the outcome. To keep a reader interested they have to care and I didn't so having read 50% 1 gave up. Sorry.

Thank you to NetGalley and HQ Digital for the arc of Stranger in the Lake written by Kimberly Belle.

Thank you to Kimberly Belle for writing this captivating book which doesn't fail to impress! This was my first Kimberly Belle book.

Charlie or Charlotte? Depending on who you may ask? She has found the man of her dreams, she was a girl from a small town, she was raised by a drug addict in a trailer park that was in the most disgusting of conditions. She marries what they call the millionaire of the town... She marries Paul... which people raises questions...

The Town brands her and names her as a gold digger, which actually includes Paul's mum as well. He is the millionaire and what they say the man of the town. Keller architecture people know of and they know of Paul himself... Paul is a widow as his wife had died in an accident of drowning but mystery as she was an brilliant swimmer... Hmmm how strange?

I really loved this book, all the mysterious, thrilling twists, the creepy vibe of it being in a secluded area of a lake which I loved, Pauls huge house he designed with huge benign windows which dont need any window dressings, by day its amazing by night thats a different story, With all the dead bodies popping up in the lake, 1,2,3.... wow
