Sampler full of debuts for me to get a hint of. I have a lot of these on my shelves now and look forward to reading them in their entirety,

With samplers, I always add loads more books to be my TBR and this was no exception. This was a great introduction to debut authors and I am ready to get stuck in. So many of these books were added to my TBR. The biggest problem however, was the lack of a clear contents page or being able to easily navigate through the book.

An intriguing and we'll put together sampler that tickled my fancy with regard to upcoming SFF novels. I will certainly be looking out for some of these.

An interesting collection of samplers that made me wish to read the book.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley.

I really enjoyed this collection of two opening chapters from upcoming debut novels. They piqued my interest and I look forward to reading the full books! I will not be reviewing them on my website until I have read the full novels in order to ensure I am doing them justice, but I appreciate the opportunity to read them.

I'll be seeking these couple out when they arrive. I thought there might be more variety but happy these were included.

This sample contains extracts from Kingdom of Liars by Nick Martell and Stormblood by Jeremy Szal.
I really enjoyed both books and am sad I could only read a sample of them. I look forward to them both being published and reading them in full!

Thank you to Orion Publishing Group and NetGalley for providing me with a sampler of these books in exchange for my initial thoughts on the chapters provided.
1. The Kingdom of Liars by Nick Martell
I have this book in finished copy and have just moved it up my priority list as a result of reading these first two chapters! I liked the sense of magic and intrigue that is shared with good pace and am curious as to what happened to Kingsman to result in his being on trial.
2. Stormblood by Jeremy Szal
Any book that starts with "I realised it was a bad idea at around the time the..." is getting put on my TBR list. This excerpt presented a fun sci-fi fantasy read set in space with aliens and unimaginable tech. The first two chapters feature a chase feature enough action to hook me in! I shall definitely be reading this one in full

Two samples, upcoming fantasy/sci-fi books from Orion.
THE KINGDOM OF LIARS
Engaging and gripping from the start, I would like to read the whole of this story. The world building started in this sample, my only hope is that the author explains what the different things are as the story progresses, or at the very least provides an appendix. For example what is a “Skeleton” in this story?
All in all, I feel this is one to look out for.
STORMBLOOD
Unfortunately I did not enjoy this sample. The writing to me felt clunky and immature. Having said that, I’m not a massive Sci-Fi reader so it could be just that I am not used to the genre so much. I did however like the relationship between the narrator and his colleague Grim and I hope this gets built on during the book.

Very excited to read some of the titles included in this sampler and will be keeping my eyes peeled for them in the near future!

This sample contains extracts from Kingdom of Liars by Nick Martell and Stormblood by Jeremy Szal. Both seem interesting but neither sample was long enough to truly form an opinion. I look forward to reading these and other upcoming sci-fi and fantasy novels from Orion.

I love these little samplers. They give a hint of what's to come, and get readers hyped about upcoming releases. As a big fantasy fan, I enjoyed both snippets here but Kingdom of Liars stands out as one to watch.

The Kingdom of Liars has 100% my attention after that sample that already set a world of magic, murder and secrets, this is definitely going on my tbr.
Stormblood set a complex picture of alien-esque technology that felt intruiging and my SFF head wants more of this.
A good flavour of whats to come.

Of the books highlighted in this science fiction fantasy genre, the one that appealed most was Stormblood by Jeremy Szal, the other, The Kingdom of Lions did not really capture my interest as much, This is the genre that I probably read the least of, but I still appreciated the glimpse into the books in this sampler. Thank you.
