Man, I loved Cole with my whole being! He was so amazing! I always say Cynthia Eden are my kind of heroes. There’s nothing that this author will write that I won’t enjoy! That’s why she’s my one of my favorite author.

2.5 -"What can I do to make you not hate me..?" Stars.

We return to the Wilde Ways universe with Cole Vincent finally getting his own HEA. I have loved Cole since he joined the series, and he has played his part to perfection as a secondary character as it has developed, I had high hopes for this book, sadly as you can see from my rating it missed the mark.

My main problem with Counting on Cole is pretty much the same as I had with it’s predecessor; Crossing the Line in that the whole book was inner monologue heavy, and it bogged down the story to a snails pace. I am used to Ms. Eden delivering RS stories that hit the ground running and continue at break-neck speed to their conclusion and that has disappeared in the last two books with constant/repetitive inner monologues about how the character is feeling/what they want to or are going to do and so on, I found myself skimming because I was getting bored.

My other issue is that Cole and Linc(H from the previous book) were exactly the same man, whereas the previous books all gave the H plenty of alpha tendencies they still had their own identities, whereas these two had nothing to mark them out as individuals, again I reiterate the lengthy and continuous inner monologues from both of them didn’t help because they were pretty much in the same vein too.

I have loved this series from the beginning, but the last two books have left me underwhelmed, which is a first for me with this author, I know you can’t please all the people all the time (and the other reviews prove I am in the minority), and I hope that is the case on this occasion, as Cynthia Eden has been one of my top five authors for many, many years. Chase Durant is up next, another great secondary character, and I just hope he doesn’t morph into his predecessors when he goes front and centre in Chase After Me due for release in July.

Another wonderful book about the men of Wilde securities and this time we get Cole Vincent's Story He is a retired military man who two years earlier while working for Wilde on a kidnapping and ransom case fell for the woman he was sent to rescue. After he got her out he walked away from Evangeline (Evie) Lake after all she belonged to the clean world she lived in while he belonged to a dark world of death and destruction Yes they may have spent a passion filled night that he would never forget but she isn't meant for him. Evie had her heart broken when he walked away but now she needs his help The man who kidnapped her was never caught and it looks like he has returned after she is nearly kidnapped again so she sends for Cole to keep her safe and this time she has no intention of letting him walk away. after all she has fallen for him all over again Can they have a future together this time or will he break her heart yet again You will have to read to see

Counting On Cole by Cynthia Eden is latest in the Wilde Ways Series. This is book eight but Cole has been making appearances in several of the previous books. It is now time for him to get his own HEA. Working for the Security Company has given him a second chance at life after leaving the military. It did seem so fitting that his love story should be a second chance one too.

Looking back at his past, his second chance is with a first instant attraction woman that he had saved from her kidnappers. While Evangeline Lake may have felt that Cole broke her heart. It is easy to see how her feelings could have been more hero rescuer worship. Certainly their differences in class would have affect life if Cole had stayed around then. All of these facts are part of the description so no spoiler here. But it is the here and now that moves this story into the action-packed danger and hot romance realm.

Strong but tormented heroes are part of Cynthia Eden’s signature story telling. Cole fits the bill from head to toe. While Evangeline Lake may need protection she is not a damsel in distress waiting for him to show up. This couple has many different kinds of sparks flying around. One thing I can count on in an Eden book is that the bad guys will be stopped and love will win out. The fun is in how all this comes about. Counting On Cole is attention holding from beginning to end.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

In my opinion these books should be read in order to get the best out of this series.
I got to tell you, I've been waiting on the edge of my seat for Cole's story. I was not disappointed. He is so sincere when it comes to Evie. He holds nothing back from her. Because of this she is able to trust him completely. All I can say is, more please!

Another “Wilde Man Bites The Dust”
Action packed second chance romance.
Cole Vincent saved Evie when she was kidnapped two years ago then walked away. Now she needs him again.
Evangeline Lake fell hard for Cole and he broke her heart when he just left without a goodbye.
The long wait is over and Cole finally gets his HEA and it was everything I hoped it would be. Alpha male, protective to the core. Surprise ending and the lead into the next book. Amazing!!
