Kimberly McCreight’s novel, A Good Marriage, is an enthralling story set in the world of Park Slope, Brooklyn. Young lawyer Lizzie, pulled back into her past by an old friend accused of murdering his wife, dives deep into the secrets and lies of this upstanding neighborhood. What she uncovers, not only threatens the once-happy marriage between Amanda and Zach, but also Lizzie’s own fragile marriage.
McCreight does an amazing job creating a palpable tension in the novel and successfully blurring the line between lies and truth. The vivid descriptions of the setting create a realistic picture of this suburban paradise with a sinister side. The twists and turns in the plot make for an unputdownable book.
A Good Marriage is an intelligent page-turner that keeps readers guessing till the very end. It’s a powerful story about secrets, trust, and marriage and sure to captivate anyone who loves a suspenseful tale.
