Wow this was an exciting book as well as a travelogue to many exciting places.
Thanks net galley and Michelle Frances for allowing me to read this very exciting book which I could not put down.
Ellie and Abby were sisters, but very different. Abby was the clever one with a wonderful job, Ellie was always I’ll and missed a lot of school due to sickness and failed at most things, she had a job as a teacher with little money, they also disliked each other.
Until Abby invited her sister to her home in Elba to meet her husband.
When their mother arrived there was an accident and there mother fell and hit her head, afraid that she was dead they ran away and started a road trip that would change their lives.
Great story and a great ending.

Although this was a quick, easy read, I found it quite slow in places and couldn't always connect with what was going on.

Its a good summer/holiday read but not really enough depth for me.

Thank you Pan MacMillan and Netgalley.

The story of two sisters with a lot of history and not a lot of a relationship, things come to a head and secrets are revealed. Very far fetched and a bit silly but readable !

Take the beautiful Italian backdrop of Elba. Two sisters who have always resented each other. A mother who favoured one daughter over the other and is now threatening to reveal a dark secret. Throw into this mix a Thelma and Louise type road trip and what you are getting is a knife edge twisted thriller that will keep you guessing right until the last page.

Thank you to Pan Macmillan and NetGalley for the ARC of this book.
Michelle Frances is definitely one to watch!
It took me longer to get to this book than it should've for a couple of reasons; last year's book by the same author was my favourite book of the year and to be honest, the blurb just didn't hook me. I was so worried it couldn't live up to The Daughter that I just kept putting it off which I now massively regret. This book was great. What's not to love?
The writing style was easy and quick - every time I picked this up by the time I'd put it down I'd made a decent 75-100 page dent in it at least, but it never dragged. Even when I spent hours reading it I was constantly engaged.
I honestly don't think their blurbs do Frances' books enough justice, as with both of hers I've read now I only wished I'd gotten to them sooner - but maybe that's part of the magic; I don't know what I'm getting into.
As with her last, the mystery in this book was expertly done. It kept me guessing right up until the last page and yet by the end there were no loose ends. Not only were there constant plot-twists and changes happening in the story to keep me eagerly reading on but I never caught up with the author - every time I thought I had a grasp on what was going on she'd throw in a curve-ball that would leave me reeling right up until the next plot-twist.
Not only are the mysteries in Frances' books genius but I truly adore her exploration of relationships. In The Daughter it was a mother-daughter relationship and in this one it was the relationship between two sisters. It felt petty and funny and difficult and just totally real. Relationships, especially those between siblings, are messy and the dynamic between Abby and Ellie rang entirely true.
I will absolutely be reading her next book and probably the one after that and the ones after that too.
I implore you to pick this up, no matter if you typically enjoy mysteries or not. It is so worth your time, and you won't have to worry about dedicating a lot of time to it because I'm certain you'll fly through it just as I did.

I didn’t think I’d enjoy this book, I read the first few pages and nearly stopped but decided to continue. Boy, am I glad I did. I couldn’t put it down. It was absolutely gripping. The story line was not what I was expecting. I can’t recommend this book highly enough.

First of all, huge thanks to NetGalley, the publisher Pan Macmillan and the author Michelle Frances for a copy of 'Sisters'. I last read a book by Michelle Frances a couple of years ago and found it an escapist and rather quick read - this is totally what I felt about 'Sisters'. This is a tale of sibling rivalry presented through the characters of Abby and Ellie. Abby is a financially struggling teaching assistant with mounting credit card debts. When offered a summer holiday escape at her sister's beautiful Italian villa on the island of Elba, she views this as an opportunity to let all past tensions subside. Abby is privileged - she is recently married to an Italian police officer and has retired, with stacks of money after being very frugal, in her 30s. When their mother arrives, these past tensions resurface and new ones arise. This is a quick read and one which I am glad I picked up. I liked the moving between past and present tense to shed some light on why Ellie and Abby's relationship is so fractured.

Family Ties, Lies, Resentment, Deceit....
Strong family ties, lies, resentment and deceit. Two sisters, different lives, a toxic relationship. Credible characters and twists and turns aplenty. A compelling domestic suspense.

This book was such a disappointment as the story was totally unbelievable and the geography and timelines were a work of fiction. This could so easily have been a great story with better writing and more judicious editing. The lack of understanding of police procedures and use of international resources made this a fantasy which is such an insult to us, the readers.

What a rollercoaster and what a ride!!
Straight thinking Abbey invites her pretty sister Elle and Mother out to her new life and beautiful villa for a holiday. Family secrets are exposed and soon the sisters need to work together to stay alive, after all isnt Mother always right? I loved the way it was written gripping you from page one.
A must read this year with a cocktail on the other hand!

I found this a very easy quick read. I found myself drawn into the story and the characters. I found it all slightly unbelievable which I know is meant to be the point but it tainted my enjoyment slightly.

I have read and loved Michelle Frances’ previous books so was really looking forward to this latest one. Rest assured this will not disappoint so what are you waiting for !!

Sisters Ellie and Abby were never close when they grew up and couldn’t be more different but now they are adults Abby has invited Ellie to stay with her in Italy during the summer. Could this be their chance to put their differences aside and become friends as wells as sisters ?

The only problem is that their mother has turned up early and they don’t get a chance to spend quality time alone. Ellie has always been her Mothers favourite and Abby always seems to be on the outside when they are together. But this time Ellie is convinced Abby and their mother have a secret they won’t share with her !!

After a secret is revealed Abby and Ellie find themselves with only each other to rely on. Can the two sister finally put their differences aside and really trust each other ?

This is a great psychological thriller with plenty of twists. The story is told in the present day as well as the sisters childhood. Will the truth finally be revealed ? And will the sisters survive being on their own together having to rely on each other ?

Thank you to Pan Macmillan and NetGalley for a digital copy of this book.

After reading The Girlfriend, as well as The Temp, and The Daughter, all written by Michelle Frances, I was really looking forward to reading this book, Sisters.

Teaching assistant Ellie and hard working, successful Abby are sisters, very different in temperament, and not particularly close. Fun-loving, frivolous Ellie is envious of her sibling's achievements. At 36, Abby is retired, married to an Italian, Matteo, and comfortably settled in a glorious villa in Alba. But Abby is resentful of Ellie for looks and her status as their mother's favourite. When Ellie goes to spend six weeks on holiday with Abby and Matteo on Elba, a compelling story unfolds as it follows the sisters' exploration into their pasts and uncovers the root causes of the issues between them.

Sisters is told in the present and goes back to 1994. A highly addictive and entertaining read from beginning to end, I thought the plot was so cleverly executed and I really enjoyed getting to know each of the characters and seeing how their stories developed. Plenty of twists kept me guessing in this sterling tale of jealousy, long-held secrets, resentment and deception, and I didn't know who or what to believe. A great page-turner with an unpredictable, cherry-topper, ending.

I am really taken with Michelle Frances' books and she is undoubtedly a firm favourite of mine.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Pan Macmillan via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

Sisters was a good read about truth, lies and families.
Abby was the top grade girl, fantastic job but has been very frugal leading to her being able to retire at 36 years old! Escaping to Italy where she lives in a fantastic house by the sea with her Italian policeman husband.
Ellie was ill as a child so therefore missed a lot of school leading to her struggling getting a job. She lives in London as a teaching assistant, earning a meagre wage and adding to her credit card debt. Her mother looked after her all the time she was ill as a child and this leads to her being the favourite.
There is a lot of hatred between the sisters due to what life was like as a child. Abby feels like she was overlooked and had no love from her mother and Ellie feels like she missed so much of her youth from being ill and Abby had it all.
This a well thought out storyline that was fast moving and had lots of twists, even by the last chapter I was unsure of who was telling the truth and who wasn’t. I loved how close the sisters got but still with an air of could she or did she. I’m not going into the storyline as it will spoil it but this is definitely a good read.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for this Arc I received in exchange for an honest review.
