Elena uses the opportunity to travel to Europe to interview Micah as a chance to take a step back from entering an arranged marriage organised by her father. He is going to cut her off do financially is she doesn’t agree. She sounds very bitter as she tells Micah about this but the forgives Micah quite quickly when he admits to using her too - he specifically requested that she should interview him as he knew her family were rich and had the right connections. Nevertheless she agrees to his proposal. Can a business transaction become love.

Didn’t hate this book but didn’t love it. Elena resented her father for trying to use her but quickly forgave Micah for the same thing. I did, however, enjoy the Italian scenery etc descriptive scenes.

An engagng romance between two very likeable characters. The story has enough twists and turns to guarantee that I was caught and had to read to the end! What a lovely way to spend an otherwise dull weekend!

Elena and Micah met when she was tasked by the newspaper she worked for to get a profile and interview from him. It comprises of a week long trip in Italy so she can fully understand his world
I liked Elena, she is thoughtful, confident and determined but she is also stressed and nervous as her father is trying to force her into an arranged marriage. Her escape to Italy was a welcome break for her and I loved seeing the country through her eyes as she explored
Micah is more reserved and has a lot of unresolved childhood issues but he still comes through with strength and has become a very successful businessman. He has a strong sense of duty although he doesn’t always admit it and he finds it hard to trust people, although he does start to trust Elena quite early on when she helps him with a speech he must present
Whilst a part of me thinks that both Elena and Micah should probably be in therapy because of their childhood issues their story still captured my attention and left me wondering what would happen next especially as their relationship was constantly changing which kept me on my toes!
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a romance with great characters and a fantastic setting which will suck you in and not let you go

Really really an enjoyable romance. I'm very biased to the author's work ( one of my favourite authors). It's just lovely how they discuss their partnership, think about themselves, redefine and renegotiate what they want and what they 're willing to sacrifice to get what they want and what they deserve. Elena and Micah are both smart and strong, but they're so sweet, beautiful, loving and compassionate that you're cheering for them at every turn. You want them happy and content and safe, and with each other.

lovely stuff but not gushing is hard!

When Elena is given the chance to interview and write a story on Micah she doesn’t expect to fall in love with him, but as soon as she meets him she is immediately taken with him but tries to maintain a professional image. During her trip she reveals that her father is forcing her to marry a man for the sake of business and has threatened to take everything away from her if she doesn’t agree, understandably she is angry and upset at this so it was really surprising that when she finds out that Micah was also using her that she forgave him so quickly and when he also proposed a marriage for business she agreed. I found parts of this story hard to understand as didn’t feel Elena would act that way when otherwise she was a strong person determined to make her own way. Overall a good read

I read this ARC for an honest review
All thoughts and opinions are mine

I have not read this author's books before but love that Netgalley are introducing me to authors, genres and books I would not have come across before. I certainly will be looking out for more from this author.

I was drawn in from page 1 and read this in one sitting. Loved the characters and the dialogue was great - loved it. Loved the writing style and the story was great with a very satisfying HEA

This met the high standards I've come to expect from a Therese Beharrie book. Believable characters wrapped in a heartwarming love story. Just lovely.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest romance.

From their first meeting, Elena and Micah's attraction clashes with their shared hostility. Both lack familial love growing up. They have a distorted view of relationships. Fear of rejection makes their romance conflicted.

The settings are glamorous and add romance to the story. Elena and Micah are complex, flawed characters. Their likeability makes you want them to be happy with each other. Circumstances conspire and finally, they find the courage, to achieve their happy ever after.

I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Marrying His Runaway Heiress by Therese Beharrie

I have not read any books by this author before and as soon as I started this one I was completely gripped by the two main characters' sparky conversation and the attraction which simmered between them straightaway.

As an avid Mills and Boon reader this is exactly the type of book I look for. I felt interested in the characters, I got a sense of who they were and rooted for them all the way through and was delighted that they overcame all the obstacles which, of course, they were always going to.

I will definitely be looking for other books by this writer now I have discovered her as I really liked her style of writing very much.

Therese Beharrie does it again. This book swept me away and had me swooning at Micah and his effortlessly charming ways and had me ready to break lockdown and fly to Italy so I could hang out with Elena and do me some sightseeing... and see if the European pigeons are more civilized (UK ones aren't so I won't delude myself). It was rather unfair this book was released in the middle of a global pandemic as Therese always has me wanting to jet off to whatever location she has set her books in. She had me wanting to holiday in Greece (genuinely, before lockdown happened I had hoped to holiday there this year) and you know she's had me wanting to go to South Africa with her previous books. She always has me googling the price of plane tickets after finishing one of her books, she just makes every location sound so wonderful so how could I not? Her descriptions of Italy were there having me crying because I couldn't go on holiday but it also meant I got to add another country to my future holiday list.

The book centres around Micah and Elena. Elena is a journalist who will be travelling to Italy with Micah for a story about him and his business. What she doesn’t realise until she’s stepped on the plane is that Micah specifically requested her to write the story because her dad is rich and she’s part of the John family. It’s kind of a slap in the face when she knows she is good enough to write the story and she’d rather that not be another thing she got simply because of her family. It meant the two got off to a frosty start, but don’t worry Therese soon had sparks flying between the two. Micah obviously wanted to know Elena wanted to know more about why Elena doesn’t want to succeed due to her family name and Elena knows there has to be a reason Micah requested her, why did her family name make a difference?

The pair were obviously at odds from the start so it was fun seeing them fight the attraction between them. Along with them not wanting to like each other they each had a heap of family baggage too, which plays a significant role in the story. They each strove to have love and approval from their parents and pursued it at the detriment of other areas of their lives. That is until they met one another and noticed the tension between and they slowly found that their attraction to the other actually held more of their attention than trying to get their families approval. Of course, they each came to that realisation at different points and that led a to a big stumbling block in their relationship. I suppose it didn’t help they negotiated themselves into a marriage which was meant to be of convenience except feelings totally got in the way.

This was an example of characters who didn't use their words (a pet peeve of mine) but it never bothered me as we had backstory and explanation and I got it. They had issues to get through. Even when Elena revealed her love and said she needed to step back because she couldn't strive for love from another man and not get it. I got it. She was growing and learning she deserved to be loved. I was cheering her on just as I was cursing her for the hurt it caused Micah. And Micah by saying he loved her than even though he did? Yeah, I wanted to smack him upside the head but I was also waiting for him to take that final step. He was protecting himself and I knew he would be slower to realise he needed to open himself up to pain in the hope of also receiving love.

Basically, this was a really great read. I loved reading this during a little UK heatwave out in the sun (didn't get sunburnt) an excellent summer read. Hopefully, I'll be able to read her next release chilling by a pool as that was the only thing missing for me.

A coerced marriage ultimatum.

A reporters job covering a businessman, that leads to an instant attraction and proposal. A mutually beneficial, conveniently speedy, private marriage with the future to look forward to.

When the heart wants more than any agreed deal has allowed for, a surprise pregnancy that eventually pulls them back together to cherish the love they have found and admitted to.

With a happy ever after ending, in this romantic story of true love.

Marrying his runaway heiress - Therese Beharrie.
Received as an ARC from Netgalley in return for an honest review.

This was well-written and had an interesting premise - the 'rich heiress, working as a journalist - about to be blackmailed into a marriage of convenience, but rescued by the hero', trope. However, the execution just did not quite work for me.

Firstly, I was thrown from the very beginning by Elena's behaviour towards her interviewee Michah. Despite her so-called professionalism, she was nippy, rude, and totally inappropriate from the very beginning. I just could not accept the premise that she was this 'professional' journalist, when in fact she did behave more like a rude schoolgirl. I also found it difficult to accept that she would allow herself to be blackmailed by her father the way she seemed to be prepared to do.

I found it difficult to empathise with either of the main characters. Neither of them really came to life and I had little interest by the end how they were going to achieve their happy ever after. So, a disappointin g read: but there were some nice bits in there. Not for me - so I can only give it 2 stars. Sorry.
