I think I have misunderstood the blurb of this book, or the blurb is just not great.
I was expecting to read about someone traveling and losing her possessions, a lawyer helping her navigate the laws of a strange country while hiding some of her secrets.
But it was a BDSM novel with a very flimsy story about stolen possessions, prisons, and a strange country. I would have never read this book would have been this clearer from the blurb.
I didn't like any of the characters, the story is extremely flimsy and flat, it might be wonderful if you are into (reading about) BDSM, I don't know. The writing is ok, but hard to judge when there is not really anything I liked about this book.
This just wasn't one for me.
Super-hot erotica novel. Interesting plot above and beyond the pleasure-house components. Includes BDSM and polyamory.
Katherine Lowe is a travel writer on her way through Eastern Europe. Awoken by the police on a train ride, she finds her backpack and luggage missing. The police find them in the train bathroom loaded with drugs. With no ID and an knapsack full of contraband, Katherine is arrested and taken into custody. Released on pre-trial recognizance into the custody of her lawyer, Jocelyn Buza, Katherine soon finds that Jocelyn is the Mistress and her house home to four of the Mistress's girls. Katherine may become number five, but her deep draw to Jocelyn leaves her wondering if being on of many is enough. Can love ever be an option between the two?

I picked out Arrested Pleasures mainly because I am a fan of reading BDSM as long as the SM portion doesn't go to far. Arrested Pleasures was an interesting concept. Katherine Lowe is a travel writer who is traveling with her friends. She has departed her three other friends to go review a new hotel as her friends travel to Greece. When Katherine wakes up, she has missed her train stop and she realizes her book bag with all of her identification has been stolen. Once she has been taken into custody, her bag turns up without her identification but with drugs inside. Yeah image that. Jocelyn Buza has been assigned as her lawyer and convinces the judge to allow Katherine to stay with her. (The plot line is a deeper.)
As I started reading Arrested Pleasures, I just knew I was going to dread reading the entire romance. However, after the first few chapters I really began to enjoy it. Listen, this book is heavy on BDSM. It was even a little heavier on the SM side than I thought it would be. I however, still really enjoyed it. D'Arnuck does a really good job at giving details without giving too many. Just as I got to the point where I thought I was about to get overwhelmed with the sex, there was a much needed break. I thought it was well timed and appropriate. I do still debate if the love connection between Katherine and Jocelyn is strong. I still haven't really come to a conclusion, but I did enjoy the time spent between them and the others in this story.
I am glad I read this one and give it 4 stars.
When Katherine falls asleep on her journey and loses her passport and id, she is all alone and facing prison, luckily a stranger comes to her rescue and introduces her to a whole new way of life. A good easy read, slightly predictable and a bit repetitive but still worth a read.
I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.
Ok read
Katherine is traveling when she falls asleep and misses her stop. She wakes up with everything she had gone. She has to prove who she is and her innocence when they found illegal drugs there she meets Jocelyn a attorney who is there to help her case.
As Jocelyn helping her she takes Katherine to her home where she meets different women and learns they are Jocelyn lovers as Jocelyn is theirs Mistress. Katherine is intriguing by this but also because she starts to fall for Jocelyn.
Ok the things is I didn’t mind the BDSM I always find that intriguing and wants to try it one day what turn me off is the sharing that what made me want to stop reading. I don’t care that some don’t mind it but I do I can’t share no matter if you want to be with that person more. I love the author can’t wait to read the next book but I like the book but also didn’t. PS: Never travel alone if do don’t fall asleep especially in Foreign Country
