Are you a fan of lighthearted novels addressing big life setbacks and changes and avoid bit of good luck thrown in? If yes, or if you need a book with a happy outcome, pick this one up. Set in Bali and England, it starts with our main character having been abandoned by her fiancee and fired from her dream job. What will she do? Wallow in hurt and self pity or start over again in England? Every person needs someone kind to boost one's self confidence when one's future looks quite gloomy. I'll take this guardian angel and village of charming (new) friends any day.
Firstly thank you to HQ Digital & Net Galley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this advance publication copy of Katie's Cornish Kitchen.
I'm not going to lie when I first started to read, I thought this isn't for me but my opinion was soon changed, I can't quite put my finger on what changed it. I loved the character of Katie, rebuilding her life after heartbreak and I also loved the themed of community running through it, I would have liked to have had more description of the location as I couldn't quite picture the setting in the Village, I wanted to be able to imagine being there but I couldn't quite picture it.
What I did love was that I couldn't predict the ending which is always a bonus as so often you can see what is coming and if I'm being honest I loved the ending and it felt heart warming and sincere, the story didn't feel rushed and I feel we are given time to get to know the main characters, so often you can cram in to many characters that you lose any kind of connection to them.
Overall this is a lovely, easy summer read and I would recommend it to others.
Katie's Cornish Kitchen is a feel good book in every way possible. It's about Katie who's been gifted a chance at rebuilding her life after her fiance takes off with all their money and her journey towards finding herself and come to terms with what life has offered her. I really liked the book's focus on community and the little ways we can all contribute to make our community stronger. While Katie's internal monologue was a bit too much for me, I appreciated the character development she went through. I do wish that the book had shorter sentences and the "impromptu" life changing advice that Katie is offered throughout the book felt less preachy. The plot is just there, the conflicts feel very forced, but the ending does bring with it a sense of satisfaction for the reader and Katie, and I do appreciate that. The author has taken care to include some great recipes for those of us who were positively salivating at her descriptions of the various delicious delights offered in Katie's Cornish Kitchen.
Review for this book will also be posted on instagram.com/boookishfeelings and on goodreads.com/dearotica on publishing date- July 6, 2020.

Katie has been dumped. Is there any worse feeling in the world? Well yes, but it’s still a pretty awful feeling. Feeling at a loss, Katie is buoyed by an offer from her friend Agatha, to run Agatha’s cafe in Cornwall. Katie is tempted, but what if she fails? She just can’t stand the thought of losing everything….again. Luckily, there are plenty of friendly local folks who are more than willing to help Katie make a success of the cafe. The only problem is the local property developers who have designs on the cafe. For all who dream of living in, or visiting Cornwall, this is a close, and delicious second to being there in person
