I was intrigued by the title of this book as obviously we don't have very many books that are based around the current Covid situation but the fact that it seemed so lighthearted made me want to read.

Sophie and Jack are complete strangers, despite living in the same apartment block. However, the weekly Keyworker and NHS clap brings them together one night when the truly realisation of the pandemic and a bad break up reduce Sophie to tears. Jack, who is shielding due to health reasons, hears Sophie in her emotional state and strikes up a conversation over the balcony. As the weeks go on their friendship starts to grow and so does their affection for each other. In spite of this, they still have never met. Can they build a relationship based on the isolation of the Covid pandemic and how will they ever meet when Jack has to stay locked up for his own health?

Living through a pandemic has been traumatic for us all but I found that Love in Lockdown was easy to read and it kept me wanting to read on. We've had so much negativity thrust in our faces due to Covid but this book was a genuine feel good read. I would 100% recommend. The characters are likeable and the story is relatable, it just has me wondering why I didn't find a Jack in lockdown!

I did not like it. It is cheesy and not good. Characters are bland, story is bad. I would say it was a waste if my time.
However, if you are really bored, this will do just fine.

This is a cute little story about love during the COVID pandemic. Although it was not as romantic as I would have liked in a romance novel it was still pretty cute.
The majority of their conversations take place over Whatsapp because, well, pandemic, and that might not be everyone's favorite but I'm a sucker for letters or texting in books!
Sophia and Jack are really cute and this is a fun, quick read!

Good but needed more tension and heat. But very cute and entertaining. Both of the characters very down to earth and very relatable.

I was hesitant but excited to read a book about love during the pandemic, but thought it was something I would love & thankfully it did not disappoint! Adorable meet-cute, and loved the focus on community even during the hard times.

I know this one may not be for everyone DURING this time, but I recommend checking it out if you need some hope + love during the stay at home!

This was a nice adorable read. Great to just listen to while passing the time.
A perfect lighthearted read. Chloe James does a great job at showing how each person could struggled with the lockdown for different reasons. But also how as a community we can all play a part in helping eachother through the uncertain times.
Sophie and Jack relationship was cute, considering they couldn't actually meet. Although I don't know how realistic it is that despite Jack never going out they kept missing eachother.
Bertie was an adorable side character. Probably my favourite. But it was nice to have a book without some big unnecessary drama. Minus the wife situation that was like 5 seconds.

This was an extremely unique and with-the-times romance. I hadn’t read anything until now set with the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. I thought the premise of this novel was so cute - two neighbors “meet” during the strict lockdown period in early-2020 in the UK. They begin due to the nightly clap for NHS and health workers and end up chatting via their balconies.

It was a fun and cute story to follow along; however, having been in a form of lockdown for over a year now and being a public health professional myself, I found this story to seem to downplay the severity of the pandemic and describing it as more of a nuisance than a global emergency.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for the gifted e-book in exchange for an honest opinion!

I really enjoyed this story. It had a wonderful group of characters that were developed nicely. It was a great book for this new world we are living in. And yet, what a great way to escape!

Corona virus and quarantine have been rough on us all. Sophia had just decided she was ready to meet someone but how she can not go anywhere but her balcony. There she meets Jack, her upstairs neighbor and the two strike up a friendship. But could it turn into more despite having never seen each other before?

I liked this book. I can absolutely see it as a future hallmark movie “love in the times of Corona”. It was very sweet and fluffy and a perfect beach read. I enjoyed the book but probably wouldn’t read again.

So I thought that this was really cute, and the characters were super sweet and such. I did feel like the characters weren't really fleshed out that much. I really wanted more from them. They kind of felt really flat for me. But I enjoyed the story, I thought that the author really handled things well and kept this book lighthearted rather than really diving into an emotional story.

Nice idea in theory but I think COVID is a little too sensitive a topic. I'm not sure ill pick up a lockdown / quarantine read again. No offence to the author.

Fun, sweet book. It was relatable with the pandemic happening around us. I’ve been reading books that are light and fun to help with stress and this one achieved what I’ve been looking for in a book. It helps to escape the stresses of the day when you read something light. Enjoyed the story and the characters.

I was not sure if I would enjoy this book but I was so wrong. Well written, interesting characters and a plot that really gets to grip with all that happened last year during lockdown. Recommended.

Love in Lockdown was a pretty cute book. In it, you will meet Sophia and Jack. Now these two live in the same building but have never met. Which, yeah, I can see that happening. I currently live in a condo and I don't think I've even seen or met all my neighbors. I've been there for 3 years lol.

Jack, like me, is a high-risk person when it comes to the COVID virus. So Sophia helps him out with groceries and other stuff. Kind of like what my family did for me - all the grocery shopping. Heck, they are still doing it for me. I think since the pandemic I've probably gone to the grocery store myself ONCE. That's it.

It was Target.. and I also got the flu shot lol.

I honestly really enjoyed how this book dove into so many topics that were relatable when it comes to the pandemic/quarantining. The only thing that bored me was when we dove into the WhatsApp stuff just because I didn't really need all of that. Personally.

In the end, the romance was okay but I wasn't completely invested.

Such a charming read! A fun take on the situation the world is currently in that I absolutely love! Makes the situation a little less worse. I loved the touch on real issues people face in the pandemic as well! A very well done book.

A very good entertaining read with interesting characters. set in a current lockdown. The love bit was a bit drawn out in getting the couple together

This book could've lowered it's voice!

With all jokes aside, I completely connected with this book and it's plot. While I did not fall in love in lockdown (happily already married) I felt an immediate bond with Sophie and Jack because I too fell in love with my husband through our communication.

With a vibe like You've Got Mail, I felt enthralled and ready to turn each page to see how their story would unfold.

What a nice book to read! It was just what I was expecting. I loved how the author captured the difficulties of this pandemic and how relationships had to adapt to this new "1.5mts apart' world. I also loved the sense of community that this book transmits and the fact that all main characters are very likable and genuinely good people. I also enjoyed reading from both perspectives although I enjoyed his chapters more than hers.

If you want to read about love in a pandemic world but still feel good about it, this is the perfect book for you!

Thank you to the publisher and the author for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you @netgalley for this approval.

I needed something light and uplifting to read and this checked all the boxes.

Initially I thought it would be a typical boy meets girl fall in love romance, but it's much more than that.

If you can't guess from the title, the book takes place during the first lockdown of 2020. Sophia and Jack strike up a conversation over their balconies, but they've never met. Stuck in lockdown their conversation quickly become the highlights of each others day... but not only is it about falling in love when the world stops still, but a story about how two people come together and also help to bring other people together, to help combat the loneliness that has impacted everyone during the lockdown. The sense of community and togetherness without actually being able to be together is what I really found an uplifting part of the book that I really enjoyed.

First I love this cover! Second I love how relatable this book is (minus me falling in love haha). I have definitely experienced some of the same emotions that Chloe did. The characters were relatable and realistic
I would definitely recommend to a friend!
Thank you netgalley for the ARC
