An entertaining police procedural where DI Eve Hunter is investigating the discovery of two bodies. One at a golf course and one in a luxury apartment. The two come from very different lifestyles and on the surface couldn't be further apart.
Eve and her team investigate and dig into the opposing strands of society.
The characters are well written and the book moves at a decent pace keeping the reader engaged till the end.
Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

If you want a good police procedural novel to sink your teeth into you cannot go wrong with Deborah Masson's latest trip out with DI Eve Hunter and her merry crew.
Still under the review of the departmental psychologist Eve tries to hang onto her temper and do things right for a change. In this book we have the dead son of a wealthy prominent businessman and not long after an unnamed girl hanging from a tree on the local golf course.
With the clues taking them nowhere and the other members of the business community closing ranks Eve struggles to make any connections until she goes looking for a file for another death, another son from a wealthy family only to find the electronic and paper versions have gone missing.

I was so pleased to be back in the world of DI Eve Hunter. A thrilling and twisty tale that kept me guessing until the end.

Another absolutely wonderful book by Deborah Masson! I absolutely loved it and will be looking out for her next book! Thank you for letting me read it x x

I enjoyed the first book in this series so was looking forward to reading this second one. I wasn't disappointed. A great police procedural which kept me guessing right until the end. It's nice getting to know the characters also. Look forward to the next book.

Brilliant. A great new voice in the police procedural world. Hooks you in from the first chapter and doesn’t let up. Characters are real people you want to spend time with. Out For Blood has everything you need in a crime thriller and more.

I received an ARC of this book via netgalley. Whilst I have enjoyed the development of Eve's character and those of the others in the team I don't understand the negativity towards her, it feels like if the power that be don't want her they should just get on and do something about it. It adds nothing to the narrative line of the series and, in my opinion, almost detracts from it. They seem to have taken all the fight and feist out of Eve in this follow on.
The cases that begin this second book has elements from all ends of society two deaths, st first seemingly unconnected run on parallel lines that inch ever closer. The case lacks the twists and turns of the last book in the series and at times even feels quite mundane. There is little guess work needed to see who if not how they are intertwined.
it must be difficult to follow something like Hold Your Tongue the first in this series and for me this has failed to do so with any aplomb. It is a decent book just nothing to make it stand out from the mass of Mystery and thriller writing. I hope the author brings back the feisty team that populated the first book in the series.

Having been gripped by the author's debut novel, I was excited to receive an ARC of 'Out for Blood' from NetGalley..
DI Eve Hunter and her team are working on a new case. The body of a young woman is found hanging in the park and a young man is found dead in his apartment. As the story progresses, we establish that the murders are linked.
Dean Johnstone was part of 'the trinity' with his two friends from a prestigious school. It transpires that the boy's fathers had formed their own trinity during their time at the school.
The second story is carefully woven through the narrative. Andreea is involved with a group of Eastern European women who have been trafficked and are 'owned' by two brothers. They have been branded with a barcode tattoo on their necks.
Both threads come together for a climactic ending. Throughout the novel, I felt sorry for how DS Cooper was treated by his wife, so I really liked how this was resolved at the end.
Deborah Masson has an engaging writing style and I like the way her books are anchored in Aberdeen. As a reader I feel invested in Eve Hunter's story and look forward to reading the next installment.

With thanks to NetGalley and Random House for the ARC
This the second novel in the DI Eve Hunter series set in Aberdeen.
Two people are found dead, one in a luxury penthouse, and one hanged in a tree.
One is a well known businessman, the other an unknown and seemingly foreign young woman.
What is the connection? Is there a connection?
DI Hunter is keen to explore any possible connections.
What transpires is a twisty story with a couple of red herrings and a few unexpected turns.
It unfolds slowly before an exciting, all out final act.
This has the makings of a great series, the characters are growing as we read more about them and developing nicely.
I'm looking forward to more from Deborah Masson and DI Eve Hunter.

I enjoyed the first book in the series and knew I would love this one! Not a bad mystery thriller with lots of suspense and cop procedures. It doesn't disappoint!

Thoroughly enjoyed this second book in the series. A gripping storyline, great characters who we are beginning to learn more about. A brilliant police procedural, I loved reading all the familiar areas in Aberdeen.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Random House UK, Transworld Publishers for an advance copy of Out for Blood, the second novel to feature DI Eve Hunter of the Aberdeen Police.
Dean Johnstone is found murdered in his luxury flat and at the same time a teenager is found hanging from a tree at the local golf course. What, if anything, links a wealthy privileged young man and a poor, possibly foreign young woman? DI Eve Hunter is determined to find out.
I thoroughly enjoyed Out for Blood which is an engrossing police procedural with some interesting twists and an unexpected solution. The novel is mostly told from the investigative point of view with a few interruptions from an unnamed young woman who recounts her interactions with some young men. I liked the twist associated with these excerpts as I was completely deceived.
I have struggled recently with concentration, finding it difficult to keep my attention on a novel but I managed just fine with this one. It is quite a short novel so little is wasted and it always seems on point. There are plenty of developments to hold the interest and some strange behaviour from the principal potential sources of information to puzzle over. If I have one criticism and I’m not sure it is, it’s that the denouement is a flurry of information with everything explained, including new information, in one chapter. It’s a lot to take in when everything before that has been laid out logically and methodically.
Being Scottish I’m a sucker for a bit of Tartan Noir and the familiarity of the setting. I must admit that apart from the odd word and place name I didn’t get much sense of Scottishness. It could have been anywhere in the U.K. Not having to deal with the vernacular might be perceived as a bonus for many readers.
Out for Blood is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.

Another fantastic book about DI Eve Huntley and her team. Quickly led you in to what looks like totally unconnected murders but Eve finds a link and they proceed to twist and turn until they click together and Eve manages to find the killer. Very engaging story and good to be finding out more about them all including Cooper, who does feature rather heavily in this storyline.
Can’t wait to see what Eve brings next. Thanks to Transworld publishers and Netgalley for the chance to read this book early in return of my review.

I enjoyed the last DI Eve Hunter book but this one went above and beyond, probably being the most compelling police drama I have ever read. There was no way I would have guessed at the way the story was heading and it was a very satisfactory conclusion, although Cooper should have used his detective skills more in his private life as what was going on in his home was obvious for all to see.

Although this book was well written with a good plot, I didn’t love it as much as the last one. Can’t really explain why maybe it was the lack of tension I felt from the book while reading. I did enjoy learning a bit more about the characters but some of this felt unnecessary, nevertheless I look forward to the next one.

DI Eve Hunter is back and boy is she back
I didn’t think anything could top the last novel but boy was I wrong in a massive way
This book goes from zero to 100 in two chapters as yet again the amazing DI sniffs out that two suicides are murders and she goes after the elite men of The Trinity, some of Aberdeens richest men
But what are they hiding? Why will they not help the police find out who murdered their sons
But be in no doubt you will need to have a day free to read this book once you start you just cant stop

A detective novel. Eve and her team back. A body found in a room in circumstances that appear that a sex act went wrong. A body of a female hanging in the woods on a golf course. Are they suicides or murders? The man was from money and everyone is closed mouthed, giving nothing away. Good book with a great storyline that unfold smoothly but keeps you interested. Good descriptive writing that is dark with a touch of humour.

I really enjoyed Deborah Masson's first book in this series, and her latest offering does not disappoint. DI Eve Hunter is yet again embroiled in a case that stretches her to her limits, the murders of two young men, each first thought to have been suicide, then the discovery of the body of a teenage girl hanging from a tree. Why are these deaths connected, if they are? Eve Hunter and her team set out to find the link. Very enjoyable, well-written, crime and police procedural novel.

The body of a young girl is found hanged in woods near the Scottish town of Aberdeen. Closer examination leads to the conclusion that death occurred prior to the hanging raising the possibility of murder. When a second body, the son of a wealthy businessman is discovered, police begin to fear that both deaths may be related.
This is a standard police procedural with the lead detective DI Eve Hunter returning to full time duty after a terrifying previous investigation. She is joined by DS Mark Cooper himself coping with personal difficulties (since when have policemen never had complicated lives!) The story involves elements of human trafficking, old Etonians, privileged fathers and sons using their wealth to furnish their own selfish and greedy desire without a thought for the consequences. I found this novel drab, uninteresting storyline, unnecessarily complex, and a cast of characters displaying the usual traits of unhappy social/personal lives, traumatic past events hindering their ability to adequately carry out their daily duties. Many thanks to the good people at netgalley for a gratis copy in exchange for an honest review and that is what I have written.

A wealthy young man is found dead in his flat in Aberdeen , shortly afterwards the body of an unidentified teenage girl is found in an Aberdeen park. Is there a link between the 2 and what is it?. DI Eve Hunter sets off on an investigation which brings 3 close influential families in to the picture .and it appears somebody is trying to bring them down . It involves all manner of turns in the story leading to trafficking and prostitution links with the families involved . Very well written gripping story from the beginning .
