Superb crime/ police drama. I loved it!! Great characters, can’t wait to read more of their exploits. Original and unusual story with just the right amount of twists. Highly recommended

Gritty police thriller set in Aberdeen. An interesting mix of police detectives try to find the connection between two murders. Lots of twists and surprises.

A great crime read showing the very extremes of elite society versus trafficked women and the way society views and treats both ends of the spectrum.
Aberdeen really spring to life under the authors pen and you can feel the grime of the poorer areas penetrate you lungs even as you read in slight envy of the houses and lives of the rich and privileged.
I enjoyed the character development of Eve as the book progresses, building on previously shared details References to previous cases and experience are dropped in almost casually but with enough detail to prevent alienating the reader whilst simultaneously not getting so bogged down in repeating detail as to lose the thread of the current investigation.
I look forward to more from DI Eve Hunter.

DI Eve Hunter and the team are back working the murder cases when one body turns up followed by another. Can the crimes be linked and who else can be involved.

The characters are really taking shape after the first book and I enjoyed this one. Really look forward to the next one. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

I was highly looking forward to the second DI Eve Hunter book as I loved Hold Your Tongue, however I was slightly disappointed.

The plot is well-written as expected and proceeded at a decent pace with an interesting twist at the end, however it didn't grab me anywhere near as much as Hold Your Tongue did. There wasn't as much tension and some sections felt utterly unnecessary.

DI Eve Hunter and her team are all interesting and well-developed characters. I like that they are believable and flawed, with questionable judgement or anger issues. I enjoyed the exploration into the back stories of all the main characters, however, I felt there was too much emphasis on Cooper in particular with some scenes being repetitive and not adding anything to the story.

Thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK, Transworld Publishers for the ARC.

Aberdeen. The son of a prominent businessman is found dead in his flat. And an unidentified teenage girl is found hanging.

The gulf between the haves and the have-nots has never been greater.

But is there a middle ground? And is there a connection between the deaths?

The second DI Eve Hunter book starts with a body found hanging at a local golf course, everyone suspects a suicide until it's pointed out there is no ladder.....

On the other side of town a local businessman's son is found murdered, seemingly they are separate cases but is there a connection?

I really enjoyed this book, second in the series, but I think you would need to read the first one, to get all the characters and why they connect as they do.

At times, this is not an easy story to read, it involves, sex trafficking, prostitution, female exploitation but is all written extremely well and with compassion and understanding.

Highly recommended and look forward to the third in the series.

One small criticism, not sure we needed to know as much as we did about Cooper's family life??

My thanks to NetGalley, Random House UK, Transworld Publishers Corgi for giving me the chance to read the book in exchange for an honest review.

I know this is only book 2 but this already feels like such a well established series. Two bodies are found at separate locations in Aberdeen and Eve and her team investigate. There is a quite a contrast between the lives of the two victims, and I enjoyed the way the dual investigation unfolded. It was good to catch up with the team again and I think I liked them all a bit more this time. I’m certainly hoping there’s a few more books to come in this series.

I really enjoyed Hold your tongue and this was even better! We got to know more about the diverse characters and caught glimpses of their individual battles and the plot was gripping and raw. A excellent read and I look forward to reading more about Eve and co soon!

A gripping read, as DI Eve Hunter recovers from the fall-out from her recent cases and is set on the task of discovering why a young woman was found hanging at a golf course. The trail leads to some very unsavoury characters and the world of female exploitation and prostitution.

Overall an entertaining story that keeps the reader turning the pages. Some of the characters could be given more depth, but the pace keeps the reader's attention throughout.

A young girl is found hanged at a golf course and a business man is discovered dead in his apartment. At first 2 separate incidents. Then DI Eve Hunter and her team discovered a sordid world that connect the 2 deaths.
Second book in the series, which can still be read as a stand-alone. A great read and can’t wait to read future instalments in the series.

Absolutely loved this book. Pulled me straight in from the first page, fast moving with a final twist at the end. Although this is the second book in this series and it was great to revisit the crime squad, reading the first book is not a necessity.

The body of a young lady is found hanging in a tree by the golf course. Initially this looks like a suicide, however it quickly becomes clear that this is a murder.

The body of a young man is found in his flat, again murdered. However his father appears very reluctant to help police with their investigation.

2 story lines begin to unfold, one of European girls brought into the country to be used as sex slaves. The other where three men appear to be linked not only by their schools day friendships but also by their fathers close friendship.

A brilliant story that brings both story lines together really well. Highly recommend

This is a brilliant book. Its really a 4.5 stars

I love Eve - and what an introduction I had to her! She's dedicated and feisty, and yeah, she has some issues (angry much?!) and I know there's a backstory there but it doesn't overshadow who she is or how her and her team are - and more importantly, it doesn't get in the way of the plot of the book.

The plot is solid, two separate crime scenes, two very different victims, but interwoven together in such a way that's it's gripping to see the investigations evolve. The pacing is great- just enough revealed here and there to keep you guessing and intrigued, and the finale will have you on the edge of your seat.

The characters are believable. I especially got a feel for Cooper in this one, but even small players come across true.

I'll definitely be reading the first in this series and looking for the next.

Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I thought nothing could be as good as Hold your Tongue but this one didn’t disappoint it kept you on the edge of your seat I thought the story line was very clever how it all came together the terrible things these girls have to endure is beyond belief, Eve and her team are very likeable and can connect with them can’t wait to read what happens to them next , I would definitely recommend this book and want to thank Netgalley and Penguin Publishers for my opportunity to read it.

I was invited to read the 2nd on DS Eve Hunter police dramas having read and loved the 1st book in the series Hold Your Tongue. Out for Blood was just as good as the first with a really good storyline, characters and a thoroughly enjoyable plot. Would highly recommend.

In the second of the DI Eve Hunter novels, a golfer suffers a heart attack witnessing the swinging form of a hanging girl. Eve sets off to find the links (forgive the pun) between her death and those of two other young men, the sons of some very influential businessmen. Almost Biblical in 'visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children', we find that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
A worthy successor to Deborah Masson's first DI Eve Hunter novel Hold Your Tongue. Eve's team becomes more cohesive and she suffers a little less misogyny from her older colleagues but she still has her temper issues.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book as I have the whole series. This kept y9ou guessing nicely as to who was guilty, and what of. Right to the very end you are held in wondering if you will get to find out...

What a great sequel, Deborah Mason has not disappointed with this follow up. We get to go deeper into the characters with a little more back story eked out from each. It’s fast paced and an utterly delicious read. Although part of a series it can easily be read as A stand alone. A corker of a read that does not disappoint. Cannot wait for the next instalment. Highly recommended so 5 stars from me.

Out For Blood is the second in the series featuring this particular set of characters and what's brilliant is you don't have to read the first book to know what's happening, very easy to read as a standalone. It's full of engaging characters and is a very fast paced and well written novel, which makes you want to read more from the author.

First encounter with D I Eve Hunter an officer with an obviously troubled past and anger and temper management problems. Despite these problems which she tries very hard to overcome a very good investigative officer and her team She leads her team through this investigation to a successful conclusion. A great read.
