This is a perfect book for anyone with an interest in origami, whether a beginner or someone with experience. It would make a really lovely gift, and it has all you need to get going.
I love it mostly because it is so authentic, which sets it apart from other origami how-to books on the market.
The full colour photographs are gorgeous, showing you how your projects should look, the instructions are easy to follow and accompanied with text in Japanese as well as in English, and the thing I liked the most, the beautiful illustrated and patterned papers you see in the photographed projects - they are included in the book, so you can photocopy them (or cut out - if anyone could be that brutal!!) and use them for your own projects.
Arigato! To the author, publishers and Netgalley for letting me read an advance digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book of origami has instructions for about 20 different creations. I really enjoyed that although it was an English translation, it kept the original Japanese text. The text and illustrations are quite clear to understand although the translation isn't 100 percent accurate, it's just small things like a change in tense, when using an "a" instead of a "the", which would make more sense grammatically, but does not at all take away from the meaning 0r teaching.
I thought that the designs were good and showed a good range of techniques and end results. I've taught many of these designs to people before when I've taught basic origami so I think it's a great selection for an adult new to folding.
This book must be purchased physically as a good portion of it is dedicated to origami paper, which is assigned to particular projects.
My favourite project was the snake (page 108), which I've never seen before!
A beautiful and fascinating book on Origami. Written in Japanese and English, with great, simple diagrams which are perfect for the beginner, Included are some lovely papers for your Origami.
This is a great book with lots of origami ideas that are fun to try as an indoor activity with my children.
There are 32 different things to make and the physical book comes with some brightly coloured and patterned paper to use (but of course you can use your own paper too.)
I believe the designs are very authentic as the book is written in both Japanese and English.
Unfortunately I did struggle more than necessary as I had to work from the diagrams alone, due to the words of the book not downloading correctly.
However, the diagrams are fairly self explanatory and if you are looking for a calm indoor activity for yourself or to share with others this origami book is well worth a look.
My friend who likes origami loved it! I myself struggled with this book because my computer could not load the full images, which was a shame.
Origami Collection is a really nice traditional tutorial manual *with* origami paper (physical edition) by origami master Kazuo Kobayashi. Originally released in 2012, this edition is 128 pages and available in softcover paperback.
These are beautiful, colorful, and well sculpted folds. There are variations on classics and new sculptures as well. There are 32 in all and they range from simple to advanced. All are pictured in color and all have folding diagrams in the line-drawn Japanese traditional style.
The book is written in Japanese and English. I don't read Japanese, but I'm told it's well written. The English is...whimsical, but fully understandable.
This would make a lovely gift for an origami learner or enthusiast. It would also make a nice weekend "lockdown" activity at home for family time.
Five stars. Really pretty sculptures.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
Origami Collection is from 2012 and contains a collection of beautiful images of origami. The first half of the book shows all of the finished products and the second half contains prints that can be used as the paper to make your own and then the instructions on how to make the origami. I didn't try to make any, but very much so enjoyed admiring all the photos.
I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review, I was not otherwise compensated.
This art guide shows us the different designs that will be shown in the book, there are lots of pages of different paper to use for origami and then there are guides on how to fold the different origami creations. This would be a good gift for someone who is interested in making origami!
