I didn't know what to think of this book but I am so glad I picked it. The story reminds me a lot of futuristic novels and films from the 60s/70s -you know the ones written back in the day when technology was a scary thing. Think Space Odyssey meets The Stepford Wives meets that episode of the Simpsons with Hank Scorpio. Absolutely enjoyable!
Disclosure: I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for my advanced reader copy of the book. This is my honest review.
Great read. I have really enjoyed this one. Haven’t found anything I’ve dislikes about this book. Read in just one sitting
This was an exciting drama that I had a great time reading. The book was very well written and the characters were believable. Highly recommended!
Couldn't get into this story at all, while it all eventually became clear I had lost interest by then.
I enjoyed the concept of 'high end/technological' houses, similar to the property in The Girl Before. The book had a good amount of mystery and intrigue to hold my interest and ensure I wanted to keep 'turning that page' to find out what happened next.
You’ll be jumping at every shadow after reading A Woman Alone. Absolutely terrifying!
First thoughts were “wow this technology sounds amazing!” but I’m lazy haha! Straight away I had a sense of unease at technology having that much power over your lives. And then things start going wrong...
I wouldn’t live with IntelTech technology. It would get boring pretty fast. What about those silly daft moments you’d miss out on? The happy accidents? It’s too false for me but it makes an excellent story!
I must admit I started to skim read some of the chapters. This book could be cut down lots without losing any plot. It gets repetitive. Also the plot is all over the place. Parts don’t make sense.
I’d rate this as an average book. It’s okay. It doesn’t stand out enough from others in the genre and the technology element gave this a sci-fi feel rather than a thriller. It’s not bad it’s just okay.

Thank you to Netgalley and Hodder & Stoughton for the arc of A Woman Alone by Nina Laurin❤️
Also thank you to Nina Laurin for writing such a captivating gripping book❤️
Follows a couple called Cecelia and Scott who are a married couple.. they are victims of a house invasion but she kills the intruder... They accept offer to take part for some new Hugh security homes by InterTech, they carefully preselect people to live in their SmartHomes in each blocks, every person has their own identity chip which allows them to access their Smart Home😱..
Who wouldn't like a house which knows your morning routines, how you like your coffee and when you have it and how you like your food, water pressure and shower temperatures etc... Mind-blowing right? 🤯
Months later the house begins malfunction and does every thing wrong, water burns Cecelia, wrong music being played? So she reports the troubles.. but then the AI calls her by a name which isn't hers? So she wonders who was living here before and why they left?...😱
I've never read something like this before but it was such a compelling and gripping read I loved the whole aspects of smart homes and AI Features and the whole concept I never read a book so fast and it made me have goosebumps and want more it was so page turning and captivating
Well done Nina Laurin❤️

A nail biting psychological thriller. Highly recommended.
Would you ever run from danger? Would you have a secret?
Welcome to a house full of secrets.
Cecelia, her husband and their three-year-old daughter have just moved into a new house: a fresh start after a horrific burglary the year before. This house comes with a complex security system that is supposed to make them all feel safe.
Except, strange things keep happening. The security system reveals that the house had a prior occupant: Lydia. Where is she now?
I loved the main characters and the way the story is told.
Thanks to NetGalley and Hodder Straighten for giving me an advance copy.
