Miranda Dickinson has aced it again.
Otty works with her father but dreams of writing as a career, she gets a chance to achieve her dream and leaves all she knows behind.
She gets kicked out of her home the night before starting her new role, so with her car filled with her belongings she embarks on her new career homeless.
lucky for her she meets Joe a co-worker whose mate has just upped and left, no notice, leaving him needing a flatmate ASAP!
Otty and Joe begin a new chapter in their lives working together, writing a pilot episode of a new series for TV and living together.
There is chemistry aplenty but will they acknowledge it, or act on it?
A beautifully written romantic book, loved every minute of it.

A story following the lives of two aspiring writers. They live together, work together but is that where the story ends? Far from it. This certainly had a different feel from previous books by this author in my opinion, but I still enjoyed reading the story.

What happens when 2 aspiring writers live together and work together? Well you will find out in this absolutely brilliant book. I will give you one tip, have a box of tissues avaliable towards the end.
I loved it! I have already recommended it to a friend.
I realised today I have only read 3 of this author's books and all 3 were brilliant so I'm off to research more books by her

I was fortunate to receive a copy of this ARC from NetGalley.

I wanted to enjoy this book, I really did. But I really struggled to get into it. It’s taken me 5 days to read it because I just wasn’t enjoying it. It’s a traditional will they/won’t they and in a similar vein to Flatshare by Beth O’Leary; the characters live together and in this book also work together. I thought Joe's character was very weak and just felt that not a lot happened apart from the script writing story line plus Fraser.

My favourite quote:
"Right now it feels like we're magnets with poles reversed, forcing us as far apart as its possible to be."

Here’s hoping I enjoy the author’s next book more!

A charming & romantic read, just what was needed to escape from months of negative news.

The two main characters are likeable and the story is told from their two different viewpoints, which frequently makes the reader want to shake them & tell them to buck up their ideas!

The writing is tight and entertaining, there are some great descriptions and the dialogue moves the story along briskly.

I liked the use of the writing room as the location and also it was nice to explore a city other than London during the course of the story.

There are no great surprises in this novel, but, to be honest, I've had enough drama in my life recently and this brought a contented smile to my face, and that's a good thing!

This book was so different from others I have read and I throughly enjoyed it. It was very entertaining and I loved the characters. I found it interesting about the writing of scripts and I didn’t want to finish this book.
My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this book and savoured every last word of it. I found myself limiting the amount I read at a time so I could hold onto Joe and Otty for just a little bit longer!

Otty works at her Dad’s bike repair shop and has for a number of years. Her Dad (and everyone) thought she would stay there forever and marry her childhood sweetheart. But Otty has plans, she wants to write and now she has the opportunity to work as a writer on a script for a new TV show. It won’t be easy but it’s what she wants to do with her life.

On the eve of her starting her new job she comes home to find her landlord has given her notice to move out the very next day. She refuses to let this dampen her spirits and loads up her car with her worldly belongings before beginning her first day in her new job. By luck one of the established writers is looking for a new flatmate and so begins Joe and Otty’s story. It is truly wonderful.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

This book was everything! I found myself smiling away without realising, while I was reading it.
The story is told from the perspectives of the two main characters, Otty and Joe and each chapter tells the story from their own viewpoint which was both wonderful and infuriating at the same time as they each misinterpreted the other but the reader knew exactly how they felt.
This book was beautifully written, and I was completely absorbed by it for hours, I could not go to bed until I had finished it.
Off to read everything else written by Miranda Dickinson now

This is the story of Otty, an aspiring writer who gets the chance to make it big, and Joe, an up and coming name within the industry. The two are thrown together in both their living and then their working world with varying levels of success. But will their stories work out or will they end in disaster?

This isn’t the genre I would usually pick up but the literary element had me intrigued. My verdict – it was ok. As far as a lighthearted, easy to read book goes, it works but for me I wanted a little more.

I really wanted the whole Otty and Joe thing to work and wished there were more moments in the books where that was allowed to flourish. Instead I found myself getting frustrated at their actions which prevented them from understanding each other. In terms of the love story itself, I felt it was all pretty predictable and I could see the ending coming. However, that was one of the quickest round ups I’ve seen in while! It would have been nice to have seen more of their love story played out in the literary world rather than it just ending at the proposition.

The supporting characters were all basic and played no real role in the story telling. So for me it felt unrelatable and underwhelming.

Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with the ARC in return for an honest review.

There will never be enough words to do this absolute beauty justice.

Whenever a new Miranda novel is released I know I will be eager to read and I will fall in love with the characters almost instantly. With Our Story I was once again able to buddy read this with my good friend Catriona – it’s always a pleasure to share my joy of a book with Catriona and Miranda is a go to author of us both so it was naturally a given we would read together.

Our Story is a powerful, heartwarming and at times heartbreaking story of two extraordinary people. Hearing Miranda read snippets of Otty & Joe’s story had me desperate to read it. So I was pleased to get an early copy – although I will also be listening to the audiobook at some point. Reliving this story will be like having a warm hug which we cannot do right now.

I knew as soon as I started it I would be sucked in. They are real characters who I instantly fell in love with. Otty is a real woman flaws and all, she’s full of passion and heart and isn’t scared of throwing caution to the wind.

And then we have Joe – Joe on paper should have oodles of confidence and bravado but that’s not him at all. Even though he is a fantastic writer he’s missing something – well that’s until Otty comes along.

Watching these two blossom as friends and as colleagues was humorous and at times completely frustrating. There were a few incidents where I could have easily been screaming at them.

Based in a writers room in Birmingham and it really did read like a Netflix show – so Netflix get on it. It was really insightful to see how the writers daily lives were and it also showcased a different side to Miranda’s writing style. And there are some classic lines that will just get you.

Miranda has a knack of creating characters that you can emphasis with and ones that could be like any of us. The realness of them is empowering and enlightening. I have to mention Daphne in original readings from Miranda I was like OMG this woman we will hate and in a way you do. But we have all worked with a Daphne in our time.

Our Story is a beautiful story that left me empowered, enlightened and beautifully broken. Otty and Joe will stay with me forever and their determination to be their best selves will also stay with me, especially when I’m doubting my own abilities. I cannot wait to reread this via an audiobook.

A sweet little love story which kept you reading. However it was a bit too unrealistic in its predictability. However, the emotions of the characters were interesting and you can feel both their pain and elation when it happened. Two people living and working together whilst feeling constantly as if they were walking on eggshells must have been extremely stressful without even having the deep feelings each were feeling for one another. At times I felt I wanted to get them into a room together and make them look at their situation and feelings. For me it was lightweight and possibly would put it as a nice easy summer holiday read.

I absolutely loved this book!

It drew me in and kept me guessing until the very end, which I really liked.
This is the kind of book you don't want to end because your enjoying it so much, but want it to end so you find out what happens.

The main characters are likeable and relatable.

This is a must read for 2020.

This is Miranda Dickinson at her very best. What an absolute delight ‘Our Story’ is; well written, fun, dramatic and with charming, endearing characters. This is the kind of book that ‘played’ in mind like a film as I read, I could picture it up on the big screen… I just wonder who would play our brilliant Otty and Joe.
Their story is powerful but not in an over the top, hearts, and flowers predictable way. Both characters have faults and problems, both aren’t entirely truthful with the other, both learn as the story develops and seeing how it plays out is captivating. I wanted them to find what they were looking for whether that meant they could be in each other’s lives or not. I was hoping both would be happy and especially happy for the other character. I couldn’t put the book down; I was all in just because both characters got under my skin and meant so much to me. By the end I was gutted it was over and had a book hangover, I couldn’t touch another book for a couple of days.
I was fascinated by the inner workings of the writers room of a popular TV show, it had a very fly on the wall sense about it, I could imagine this was how all our TV favourites come into fruition. I don’t want to go too much into the story or how it all ends, as I think it’s always best to find out for yourself, but I was entertained and unsure of how it would end all the way through.
Miranda Dickinson creates such gorgeous characters that you take to your heart. The story is well paced and written in a great style typical to the author. I love that it isn’t just a romance story, it’s about finding yourself and following your own dreams.
I want to read more, I wish I could follow Otty and Joe’s story…
I cannot recommend this highly enough. One of my absolute favourite reads of the year.

I am in the minority here, but I did not enjoy this book. I could not engage with the two protagonists, Joe and Ottie. There was little in the way of character development, so they came across as one dimensional, with interchangeable voices. I find it hard to accept that an experienced author would begin a book with a situation that just would not happen in real life ie the eviction of Ottie with just 24 hours notice, after 7 years as a model tenant. This is against the law, and completely implausible, as is leaving a place you’ve lived in for 7 years with just two suitcases and a few boxes of books, all packed into a tiny car!
The peremptory sacking of an entire team of scriptwriters at Ottie’s new place of work also completely ignores employment laws. You don’t need to know much about the laws of the land to be aware of these facts. The stereotypes of some of the side characters added nothing to the narrative sadly.
This story came across as more of a YA title, such is the naivety ( or laziness) shown by the author.
Too contrived and predictable for my taste, I’m sorry to say I DNF.

My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance copy of this title.

In true Wurdy style, this book is an emotional roller coaster! Boy meets girl, things happen, our hearts get stomped on, more things happen and then we cry.

I adore Miranda's style, her stories are just gorgeous, sweeping, dramatic and romantic. Characters that you truly bond with make this story so gorgeous to read. So much so that you believe they are real, friends that you truly know and love. I genuinely cared what happened to Otty and Joe. I cheered for them, I cried for them. Ugh, I loved this story! So much!

It was also great to get the insight into script writing. I've not read a book set in this world before and I loved this new setting. It's such a competitive job and it was quite intense and interesting to learn about.

I don't know what else to say. You just really need to read this book. You need to read ALL of Miranda's books. She's brilliant!

I read this for a blog tour.

This could be Netflix's newest rom com, a perfect friends to lovers, slow burn, audience rooting for them, stop dating the wrong people, story.

I loved Otty and Joe, they felt like real people, making mistakes, worrying about messing up their friendship, trying to be all things, just like the rest of us.

Funny, sad, enjoyable and entertaining. I read this during a recent rainy day, curled up on the sofa, which I definitely think is what this book is made for.

Can friendship turn into love?
This is the story of Otty and Joe, life has decided that they will have to live together and work together, what started with a good friendship will turn quickly into something more. But are they ready to face their feelings and share their dreams?
This is a story about love, but at the same time is about friendship and dreams, the need to fulfill our dreams without having to leave a part of ourselves behind.
This is a story any reader will love, not only for the romance but because the characters feel real and human, they have their faults, don’t expect to love them since the first page, the trust and bond will come as you start knowing them, like a real relation. The chemistry between them is real, you can almost feel the energy, but at the same time I can understand their fear to reveal their true feelings, knowing that everything will change after that. The “happy ending” only happens on the movies, in reality there’s no “ending” only a new chapter in your life. And I think this is the point of this book, it doesn’t matter the “ending” of their story, but how they will continue their lives, together or separate, the important thing is that they are happy with their decision, no regrets.
Our Story is your story, you’ll be part of it and you’ll not be able to forget it. Ready?

I have read a few of Miranda Dickinson's books and haven't been disappointed at all, Our Story is no different. I found the story captivating and could honestly read more about these characters - I hope they are revisited one day.

I enjoyed the scriptwriting background, I thought it was really insightful and fascinating. I loved the interactions between characters too.

It's a true 'Will they, won't they' story full of misunderstandings. Dickinson has done it again for me, I loved this easy, light hearted read!

A lovely modern romance story. Otty and Joe are thrown together by circumstances, almost 24/7 living and working together they become great friends, but will they ever be more?
The will they won't they is perfectly played out and the ending inevitable. I really liked Joe and was routing for him, Otty on the hand, got bit irritating as the book progressed, she was outspoken and brave in all parts of her life which I liked but pathetic with Joe, I guess it wouldn't have been a story otherwise!
Overall a very easy read of a modern day romance in the writing world.
Thanks to HQ and NetGalley for the ARC.
