Such a beautiful story showing how confusing the boundaries between friendship and love can become so messy.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I like to read author’s books, but, I found that this one was just a bit less gripping.

The start was well written, setting the scene and introduction of characters and the idea of setting it in a writers’ room was good too. But, soon I found I was losing interest.

Early on, you could see where it was going and I found it lacking in suspense, something to keep you gripped. For me the main characters just felt a bit lost lifeless.

The ending was a bit quick and I was hoping for an epilogue, but sadly wasn’t any.

Otty is on the verge of starting a new chapter in her life. Leaving her job as a bike technician for her father's bike shop and starting a role as a writer for a production company. Returning home after her last shift she finds out that her landlord is evicting her and she has nowhere to go on the first day of her new job.

Joe has been a writer at the production company for a while. He's starting to gain his confidence back with his writing. However, with his flatmate doing a moonlight flit, he's not sure how he's going to cover the rent and keep the house he loves.

It feels like fate that Otty and Joe both need a housemate and embark on a work and house sharing relationship. A friendship forms and the soon find their groove with each other. However, there is something stopping them both admitting their true feelings for each other.

One that will have you asking not will they get together, but why aren't they together?

Really good read. Would recommend to friends and family. I could sympathise with characters (important for any fiction novel!) and looked forward to picking it up and reading the next few chapters! Interesting plot line and a good ending. Will look out for more novels by the author. Thank you.

Thank you netgalley for this advanced copy. Unfortunately I have to agree with most of the reviews. This book was just lacking and not her normal par. It didn’t hold my interest.

This is an incredible book. The characters are so well developed and I felt like I knew them after only a chapter or two. The story is so beautiful and well written. I actually found myself hurrying through other tasks so that I could get back to finding out what Joe and Otty were doing! That’s the sign of a great read!

I took this story for what it is: a light-hearted, fast-paced read for the summer. The thing about Miranda Dickinson is that you know what you're getting when you approach her stories, so I would say this was one of her typical stories with no surprises. Sometimes all you need is an easy read that will lift your mood!

Disclosure: I'd like to thank the publisher for my advanced reader copy. This is my honest review.

Miranda Dickinson’s ‘Our Story’ is a lovely and uplifting romance. While in moments predictable, I have enjoyed this book very much.

I loved the setting and atmosphere of the book. Birmingham as a location has been a great choice, highlighting the existence of the creative industry outside the London bubble. Writers’ room and high-pressure involved in creative TV production have provided a great and tense background for the growing relationship between two main characters. Joe and Otty’s chemistry is clearly visible both at the office and in their personal space, as they start to share a flat. The complications that arise both from working together and living together as the lines between professional and personal blur are making for a great story.

Often snarky and quick-paced dialogue has definitely been the best part of ‘Our Story’. I have also liked Otty’s complicated relationship with her family and ex-fiance. But I have felt that Joe’s background story and the characterisation of some of the supporting characters could have been better developed.

The ending of Miranda Dickinson’s book has felt a little rushed, but on the overall, it has been a well-written. And most importantly ‘Our Story’ has put a smile on my face. It has been a lovely read for the weekend.

I have, in the past, enjoyed Miranda Dickinson's books, she is an accomplished storyteller. I was, however, disappointed with this story, it was very predictable and honestly did not hold my interest, I found myself skimming through the pages rather than reading them.
The plot is primarily set in a scriptwriting office, it caught the spirit and creativity involved in producing TV dramas.
The two main characters slowly fall in love, but in a high-pressure, highly charged atmosphere, their feelings are put to the test.

I want to thank NetGalley, HQ and author Miranda Dickinson for a pre-publication copy to review.

Miranda Dickinson is an excellent storyteller but I was slightly disappointed with Our Story. An unusual plot, set mainly in a script writing studio promised well and captured the energy and hard work involved in producing TV dramas. The two main characters through circumstance both work and live together. There is chemistry between them and they gradually fall in love. Misunderstandings and flared tempers in a high pressure job mean they don’t appreciate their feelings or what they might lose - until the end. It is a sweet love story, well written, but fairly predictable. A pleasant summer read.
Thanks to NetGalley and HQ for an early reading copy in return for an honest review.

Our Story has a very interesting concept for the main plot. The characters feel slightly under developed and sometimes as a reader you just want to feel that connection with them a little more. Over all a light hearted read that's perfect for the summer.

Received this as an ARC from Netgalley in return for an honest review.

Sorry, I normally like this author’s books but this one was just totally underwhelming. It started off quite well, setting the scene, introducing what sounded like interesting characters and I liked the idea of setting it in a writers’ room - but then - I just lost interest.

You could see where it was going and sadly the journey wasn’t worth it. The Main characters just never came to life for me and the ending? Well that was the fastest denouement I think I have ever read and lacked any kind of emotional resolution or satisfaction. I actually turned the page to see if there was an epilogue - but no, that was it.

I couldn’t engage with any of the subsidiary characters who seemed to be one dimensional stereotypes. I would add that the poor quality of the downloaded copy I received made it hard work reading - so that probably hasn’t helped.
Sorry 2 stars - a good try at something different but it just didn’t work for me..

Normally I enjoy Miranda Dickinson's books, but this one lacked something, I felt.
It's set in a cutthroat world of screen writers. Ottilie has a screenplay accepted and is invited to work with the team, which she is ecstatic about. Suddenly the night before she is due to start, her landlord gives her notice....well, no notice actually as he wants the flat the next day. Could this really happen today? I would have expected Otty to be straight on to her solicitor, but off she goes, and finds herself sharing a house with Joe, another of the team.
I felt it was all a bit predictable, we knew what was going to happen even though it was at the last minute.
Thanks to NetGalley for the chance to review this book.
