Snow White With The Red Hair volume 8 is written by Sorata Ataduki, and this volume is all about Obi. The pose he is making on the cover looks sensual, so for Obi fans this cover is a good treat for you! This review copy was provided by Viz Media and NetGalley! This manga series is excellent because the relationship is already established between the two leading characters, and the story is more about the troubles that can surround them as their relationship blooms.
The contents of these volumes consist of a nice hotel and Hotspring adventure, with bonding between Prince Zen and Obi. Other characters also get extremely close, but the main focus is on Obi. There’s some slight foreshadowing when a rather flirtatious lady tries to have her way with Mitsuhide and Zen, but refuses Obi.
The volume contains information on this character’s mysterious past, and there’s a possible hint of tragedy. Obi was an old mercenary with not many friends, except for a mysterious woman. Obi gets hurt on a secret mission, but Shirayuki finds him and heals his battle wound. Obi reflects on his past while Shirayuki cleans up his wound, and realizes that he loves being friends with Prince Zen, and Shirayuki.
There is also some possible tragedy foreshadowing, and maybe Obi is realizing he loves Shirayuki in a romantic way? I’m not sure, but this could become a big problem in the future if Zen ever finds out about it. People who have seen the anime may remember this story as well. Speaking of differences between the anime and manga, this specific volume is the start of new content.
There’s a new arc that wasn’t adapted into the anime contained in this volume. Ryu and Shirayuki work as herbalists in the northern area of Clarines Kingdom. They run into a familiar foe who is undercover. There’s also a large dramatic moment between characters that adds as a great cliffhanger to keep readers invested. Can Shirayuki save the day? Find out in volume 9. Pick up a copy today and support Sorata!
We’ve now reached Volume 8 of the shojo series Snow White with the Red Hair. Up until now, we’ve yet to see any new content that the anime series didn’t adapt, but this volume is set to change that! As we begin a new arc, let’s find out how the cast is doing.
This book begins with Shirayuki and Zen finally talking to one another about their future, with Zen declaring that he wants to show Shirayuki off to the world as his partner. Now that the two understand where one another stand, they can move on to carving their place in the world.

This is a super sweet manga! I definitely wish I had read the rest of the series before picking this book up, as I was rather lost with what was going on but I still enjoyed it. The pictures are great, and the storyline is fun and easy to follow. The plot of mischievous and the romance was really intriguing.
I wouldn't recommend randomly jumping into this series. Start at the beginning, or find some really good summaries!
Three out of five stars.
Thank you to NetGalley and VIZ for providing me a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.
