each other for long. Nina is keen for their charade to succeed, so she is very invested in giving out the correct signals and having the right optics for the media. It is Nina who has to remind Major about an engagement ring, but who know why Major is compelled to have a bespoke stunner made for her.
When Major backs away from their connection, even to protect himself from love or rejection, Nina is happy to try and keep it casual, as she has abandonment issues too.
Can they both put their baggage aside and build on their connection?
I really liked that this was a romance featuring black protagonists, with some cultural references. I also really loved the clever, capable Nina, who didn’t become a feeble person when things didn’t go to plan. She was a survivor and a strong person, and I loved that. I also loved how
This story is part of The Fabulous Golds series but can be read as a stand-alone. It tells the story of Nina who sets out to sell her new app to the Gold’s fashion house, but it comes with conditions in the terms of a fake engagement to Major Gold. With business on the table they soon start to realise that the feelings and attraction they have for each other may jus5 be the real deal.
The setting was unusual which appealed to the story but there were no real surprises to turns and the book whilst an enjoyable read follows the plot you would expect.
Great little read. Fun and very flirty. I am a sucker for a quick mills and boons book.
The characters were strong and raunchy.

Nina has created her own fashion app and is on her way to an interview with a prodigious fashion house in the hope they will partner up with her when she has an awkward encounter with a very handsome man who clearly finds her very attractive....low and behold this man is one of the owners of said fashion house, they agree to use Nina's app on a six week trial basis, but there is a catch she has to pretend to be Major Gold's fiance for the six weeks in a marketing ploy to promote the new bridal collection that has just launched, however it soon becomes clear that this they both have feeling for each other and business and pleasure sometimes do mix.
So I wasn't sure what I was going to think of this book going into it, I was excited to see a black author on Mills and Boons books and wanted to support her however I haven't really enjoyed their Dare collection in the past, preferring more plot to my book where these are hugely focused on the sex, however I loved this book! I fell in love with both Nina and Major instantly, I really bought into their romance and enjoyed watching it flourish. There are quite steamy sex scenes in this book as is to be expected from the Dare collection however these don't outshine the plot at all and we get a lot of Nina's life and what is going on out with the fake engagement and what is going on with her family, there is a lot of heart to her story.
The romance moves quickly in this, however I feel this is to be expected as this is a novella and things have to move in under 200 pages, however the pacing was well done and I felt the author paced it as well as she could with the page count.
I was really hooked on this book and found it really well written. This is the second book in a series focused on the Gold family, however I hadn't read the first and that didn't matter although I instantly downloaded it after reading this one and am rushing through my current read so I can get to it.
I don't think these kinds of books are for everyone but I loved it and I would recommend it to the right person.
Growing a business with a great app. A fake engagement to bring publicly and popularity to make it a success.
What could possibly go wrong!
Deep personal, emotional feelings become involved and hey presto, everything is suddenly for real.
With a happy ever after ending in this romantic story.
I read this ARC for an honest review
All thoughts and opinions are mine
This is part of a series - can't wait for the others!
A new author to me, I shall be looking out for more from them
Great story, I really liked the characters - great chemistry
Really looking forward to more
Nina, a women from York got more than she expected when she went to pitch her app to a big fashion company in New York. 6 weeks later her world was not what she had planned to happen so soon.
At Your Service gave me '50 Shades of Grey' vibes but is not as raunchy. I couldn't put it down, I wanted to find out what happened to Nina. I hope there will be a sequel!
At Your Service is part of a series, but like most Mills and Boons Dare collection, works absolutely perfectly as a standalone read.
Set within the Fashion/technology App world it's a pretty unique and original setting, which piques the reader's interest. Add in the very likeable characters who have instant chemistry. It makes a brilliant sexy and sensual escape. from the world for a few hours.
The second book in The Fabulous Golds series reads well as a standalone. I like the characters and the family dynamic, so I hope to read the first book too. The fashion and app technology industry provide an original setting for this romantic, sensual story.
Nina and Major's physical attraction is immediate. The chance of their feelings deepening is complicated by their business arrangement and fake engagement. The passionate love scenes show their emotional connection, as both realise this may be the real thing.
There are no surprises, but the well-paced plot and engaging characters make this an enjoyable, romantic read.
I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
An enjoyable quick and steamy read featuring a likeable couple who pretty much brought what I want when I pick up a book from the Dare imprint. I’d say their chemistry was more on the real end of the scale rather than explosive and the ending was a bit sharp and swift for me, but loved the family dynamic and I’d definitely be up for reading more from The Fabulous Golds. 3.5 stars.
Received as an ARC from Netgalley.
This is well written and has a fairly decent storyline and yet, I just could not get into it.
I think I disliked the basic premise of the pretend engagement, which was done purely for financial reasons. it was so cynical and cold a proposition that I found my discomfort spilled over to the characters who were perpetrating this hoax.
I like the fake engagement, marriage of convenience trope, and usually, can see why it's an important part of the plot. In this instance, all I could see was a bunch of rich guys wanting to promote their new clothes line and setting up the fake engagement to hoodwink their customers.
Then the hero (Major) hasn't got the sense to make the damn pretense look real!? Sorry, I couldn't take to either the hero or the heroine. Then he has sex which is fabulous but decides not to do it anymore? he behaved like an idiotic jerk not a man of experience. The heroine was good. Sorry, but I ended up skimming to the end. This one's not for me.
