I have loved the story, the main characters and the places! Writing wittily, Jenny has created the main characters as warm and very normal people. No super beautiful heroes here! They feel so real the reader would like to meet them! My first book by the author and definitely not my last one!
Thank you Jenny as well as NetGalley for letting me read this book for free!
An excellent book i love DC Gaby Darin such a feisty character that pulls you in wanting more, its good to see old and new characters it keeps the story real.i will highly recommend this book.5*
Another new author for me,I was not disappointed.A great read from start to finish.Would recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery crime thrillers. Will certainly be looking at more from this author.First class storyline.
I loved Silent Cry so I was eager to jump into Darkest Night, hoping it would be as good - how great to find that it’s even better. Some new characters and some old - I think I’m going to get very fond of this team - and as for DC Gaby Darin, I predict she will be one of those characters that people will easily relate to and want to know what happened to her next, I’m eagerly anticipating the next instalment.. A five star read, no question.
Oh my!!! Detective Gaby Darin is a marvellous creation, feisty yet full of anxiety. I love characters that are this complex and not totally full of their own cleverness. The supporting characters are very good too and the plot is amazing. I honestly couldn’t put it down and was even reading while making a lasagne. I seriously can’t wait for the next book, this is a series that I’m already addicted to and I’m looking forward to developments with Rusty. Fantastic read.
After a birthday night out, Christine goes to bed with a man and wakes the next morning to find her female flatmate dead beside her. She has no memory of the previous night....
Another woman goes missing. Are the cases linked?
Gaby Darin certainly has her work cut out, especially as she's also coping with a move to a new area, a new station and a new team
Another fantastic book by Jenny O'Brien, this series just keeps getting better. I was hooked from the first page, I'm looking forward to reading more in this series
A very satisfying read for the second installment of the Detective Gabi Darin series. An interesting case ( murder, mayhem, divorce, roomates, it has it all) for Gabi and her crew to tackle, lots of twists, turns , light humor and an ending that I did not see coming.
DC Darin is a likable character, plenty of flaws, self doubt but always striving for more makes her very relatable.
I am excited to see where the series goes next, and am anxiously awaiting the next book. This is on my short list of top series that is a automatic buy.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of the book.

Christine went to bed with her lover and woke up next to her dead roommate, Nikki. Her lover is gone and Christine has no memory of the events of the night before, or how she came to be sleeping next to a dead body. DC Gaby Darin is new on the scene and determined to solve this case after her last one ended in bloodshed. Another dead woman only heightens the urgency, where is Christine’s missing lover? Is he another victim, or something more sinister?
DCI Gabi and team brilliant book. Full of twists and turns. Was very privileged to be given the opportunity to read this book early via Netgalley
Darkest night is full of twists and turns with a great character subplot that makes you invest in the books characters. I kept reaching for the book when I should have been doing other things a sure sign of a good book!
I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.
DC Gabi and her team are task in solving wether or not their suspect Christine has murder her flatmate in cold blood.
Christine spends days in jail trying to remember what happens the night Nikki died all she remember going home with a man and that’s it. Gabi and her team are thrown for a loop when another women Traci goes missing as they dig deeper they start to wonder are both crimes are related and to make matter worst one of their own becomes in danger.
This was a good read. DC Gabi is a good leader as she tries to figure out everything. I like her relationship with the team and her friendship with Amy and how they talk about Gabi lack there is of her love life which I don’t mind it I just don’t want it to be a focus of in the next book which it seems medical examiner Rusty might have thing for Gabi.
I received a copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley.
3.5* rounded up.
This police procedural begins with Christine waking to find the man she took home last night still apparently sleeping beside her, but it turns out the duvet is covering her murdered flatmate instead. This was an excellent beginning, and indeed most of the novel flowed well as Gaby leads the team investigating this murder and later the disappearance of another woman. However, the ending left me with many questions and seemed rushed.
SPOILERS
Why did the murderer kidnap and attack Amy? How did he gain the medical knowledge to pierce the heart? Why didn't he kill Christine as well - wasn't he worried she would remember him?
Had Nikki then discovered Christine's diving knife? Even though it was not kept in the flat itself?
Why on earth did Christine ever divorce Paul? - it was the thinnest excuse I've ever come across.
Why was Gaby so hard on poor Rusty?
Book two. Nikki Jones is found stabbed and not only that Tracy Price is reported missing. The two detective sergeants Gabby Darin and Owen Bates have not one but two cases on their hands. A lot of suspects but is there any connection with the two? What can I say about this book? Wow it will knock your socks off, so much going on as you read, twists turns full of suspense. Just when you think you have cracked it the story takes you another way in. This author is a teller of tales that fit in perfectly with the characters that makes them all come to life. I was enthralled reading right to the end the second book in the Gabriella Darin series couldn't ask for a better read .
