Loved the Oyster Catchers, in fact, I love everything Iris Gower writes because she captures her characters so well and the storylines are just so beautiful. 5 stars a great read.

I read this series of books a long time ago and thoroughly enjoyed them - they have not got any less captivating 20 years later.

The Cordwainers #2
When Emmeline Powell's father died she was bereft, lonely and married Joe Harries who was much older than she was. Joe was a fisherman. The wife's of the Oyster Catchers were sturdy, stoic women who were used to helping their men with their catch. They didn't like the frail outsider who had married into their community. Nina Parks was a widow, she didn't like Emmeline. Nina thought Joe should have married her.
Emmeline prefers her old country life to her new life as a fisherman's wife. You can't help but feel sorry for her, after all, she's just seventeen. The story continues from the first book and it's descriptively written. It's an easy book to read. Emmeline's life was hard, she had lots to contend with. This is turning out to be a good series.
I would like to thank #NetGalley, #RandomHouseUK #TransworldPublishers and the author #IrisGower for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Oyster Catchers by Iris Gower.
This is book 2 of the Cordwainers series.
I felt for seventeen year old Eline who prefers the farm life to a life at sea catching Oysters.
I was happy to see Hari’s name mentioned in this book but that’s what you get from a book in a series.
Imagine being trapped in a loveless marriage?
While reading this book, I was looking forward to the end. I wanted to see how life will turn out for Eline.
I love this book. So emotional, descriptive and entertaining.
Eline is just an awesome character, despite how life treated her, she never gave up.
You need to watch out for Nina Parks. She really surprised me in this book.
I am rating it 5 stars.
Love is beautiful when you’re with the right person.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are mine.

This was a book that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. The characters were interesting especially Elaine who had so much to endure but she kept going and eventually everything ended happily. I learned a lot about the hard lives of the Oyster catchers and their wives. There was a good storyline and l recommend that you read this book.

Well written and entertaining family saga. I would recommend this book. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and this is my unbiased review.

I enjoyed the continuation of tales from the first books characters and the introduction of new characters. A mixture of emotions, from joy and sorrow to anger and happiness. I enjoyed this book, although I can’t imagine putting up with the things Eline put up with. Off to read the third book. I am looking forward to reading more about Fon.
