This book is super cool and interactive! It is definitely a lot of fun. You get to literally step into the story. Each situation has a disaster and three choices, will you survive? Step into the adventure and also learn some survival skills along the way.

As always, thank you to the publisher and netgalley for providing me a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a very simple yet effective way to teach survival and basic safety skills without being preachy or boring. Set up like a “Choose Your Own Adventure” style, this books poses a scenario in which kids choose (from three options) the right behavior to survive the situation. Colorful, well written and engaging, it will be a good read for kids 8+.

This is a fun choose-your-own-adventure type of book for kids where they make choices in dangerous situations to see if they'd make the best choices. For instance, they crash land in the Himalayas, encounter a snow leopard, get bit by a snake, etc. If they make a bad choice, it just tells them to go back and make a better one, instead of telling them they'll die. Color photos show all of the choices and it gives a little synopsis for why each choice is a good or bad one. This is likely to be a hit with older kids and the middle school age, plus they'll learn a bit along the way.

this book is so much fun. My favorite thing about this book is how all of the choices interacted and told a complete story. I also liked how it provided real life knowledge on the different choices. My only complaint is that I wished it was longer!

*received for free from netgalley for honest review* Really cool adventure book, reminded me of the goosebumps where you chose your adventure but much shorter lol

Who didn't love "choose your own adventure" books when they were a kid? So I was very excited to see a version for adults. While I don't agree with all of the information/choices available, the author chose a really unique way to educate people, especially when you make an unsafe choice.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

This is z fantastic book for anyone who loves adventures. This is a fun book with three possible options for each bad thing that happens in the adventure. Will you make it home?

This is a great way for children to learn what to do in certain scenarios in a fun format.

I really enjoyed this book and learned a few things too. I did choose the wrong option a few times and had to go back and choose a better option but this was all part of the fun and learning.

I thought I would like this book because, as a child, I loved Choose Your Own Adventure books. This was somewhat disappointing though. I wasn't a fan of the choices, although the author did try to educate readers who made poor/unsafe choices. The photos will probably engage my students but the font and colors on white paper may be difficult for my dyslexic students to read well.

This would be a fun gift for a middle grade student but I probably would not purchase it for my school library.

No, I did not survive. This is an interactive book about disasters and how to survive them. It does not have the complexity of similar books as if you did not survive an episode then you went back only one page. Some books are more complex than this and you can end up reading the whole book more than once if your choices do not work out well for you. It is a format that I have used successfully with readers who cannot find anything to read and this book will be as popular as others.

It is fun.

Most of us are not going to bet by a venomous snake any time soon, nor are we going to be in an avalanche in the same week, and then an earthquake. But, at some point in our lives, one of these things can happen, so wouldn't it be good to know what to do?

If you are in an earthquake, is it best to stand in the doorframe? Run outside? Duck and cover?

This is a choose your own adventure type book which gives you choices, and then lets you know which ones will kill you or let your survive. Do you run from a snow leopard? Do you sock a shark on the nose? Do you lie down and play dead for a rhino?

No to all of those.

The only thing you should run from are hornets. And the book makes a joke about it being the only thing you should run from.

This is a fun middle-grade book that teaches you how to survive, and still is a fun little adventure.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

Our family loved this book! We learned a lot, we laughed a lot and we had a great time reading through the scenarios and making our choices, as well as guessing what would happen if you chose poorly. Another fantastic side note is that this book really added my my daughter's virtual Scout experience, during the pandemic. Her troop was able to use it as a team building activity during their virtual meeting. We are very grateful for the chance to read and review this book and would happily recommend it to others for group activities. The one downside, of course, is that it isn't likely to be a book you'll read through again and again, as you'll already know the outcomes. But, that doesn't diminish its value, in my eyes, It just means you can pass this on to others to enjoy!

Your quest for new styles and formats of choose-your-own-adventure books has brought you here. You find a story that dumps you right in at the deep end, with a snake attack just as your week's holiday in Borneo is over, and then proceeds through Himalayan plane crash to disaster after tragedy after potentially lethal mishap. You note the book is surprisingly built round a lot of stock photography, making this immediately visually different to such books you've tried before, but at any one point you get a multiple choice of possibilities, and rather than zigzag you through the book it's just a matter of flicking through to find the one that does not suggest you go back to pick again but instead progresses the story. Do you choose this book? If yes, read on, if no, read on.

This is certainly flawed. The second choice to make, what to do after the plane crashes in the Himalayas, allows you to descend the mountain in your holiday clothes, hide in an anonymous cave, or stay with the plane. Everyone with an ounce of logic would, on the evidence given, stay with the plane – but no, be sensible and they suddenly demand you see smoke and smell jet fuel, and we're doofuses for wanting to stay alive and where we can be found – we clearly should have done something far more risky, for want of sustaining the narrative. Awkward. And another incident is best served, by this book's own admission, by doing two of the options where possible.

So the format of this thing is not exactly shot down, but is shown to be gliding to a halt as opposed to jetting off to be the future of such books. However I was just about to declare it mediocre on entertainment and mediocre on safety information and survival guidance when it threw me a right curveball. And for it's sake I won't say what that is. It's not enough to fully redeem this, it's not enough to counteract the white-on-white printing of some of the version I saw, but it did surprise a little. So this tale of the Worst Holiday Ever is worth considering, but not as it attests worth letting yourself in for in real life, nor really worth rushing to buy.

I adore choose your own adventure books, they hold a special place in my heart. This book was great! I loved choosing my own path although sometimes I didn't like any of the options. I really liked that the book gave tips and pointers when you made a wrong choice, to educate the reader.
