Enjoyed this book a lot. Very twisty and kept me on the edge of my seat. It really ramps up towards the end.
Great plot to get yourself lost in. This book has everything. A real fast paced thriller. Will get your heart racing on more than one occasion. Very well written. Highly recommend this book

This book was not at all what I expected from the synopsis but I absolutely loved it and flew through it in one night shift. There was so much piecing together and mystery and I honestly suspected every single character at some point or other. I enjoyed the way Carrington made pretty much all the characters look guilty throughout the book so you were thrown off the scent. There were some incredible cliff hangers throughout the chaptersโ on multiple times I actually skipped across the next chapter just to solve the cliff hanger before going back.
I loved the alternating chapters written from the โbad guysโ perspective who was a mystery throughout, so that we got an insight into their thoughts and feelings and were hearing from them but without knowing who it was.
I did figure out the main twist almost straight away after continuously pausing reading to be a detective BUT this did not ruin the book for me at all โ I wrote down the spoiler on my notepad at work just so I wouldnโt forget it and I WAS RIGHT. I literally jumped out of my seat when it was revealed and I was so bloody proud of myself for figuring it out. The only thing that knocked a star off for me was I did feel the ending was slightly too far fetched.
This was the first of Carringtonโs books Iโve read and Iโd highly recommend this book for anyone who loves a big twist in a mystery.

A good storyline and I liked the writing for most of the book, however the ending did disappoint. Too many twists towards the end. I can see why people like this book, but it wasnโt for me. I would like to read more from this author, but I was disappointed by this one.
Oh nooooooo! I was enjoying myself so much but WTH kind of ending it was!
Why something starting sooooo good, smart, nail bitingly, gut twistingly exciting turns into something frustrating and disappointing!
Sam carrington had done it again. A twisty turning read with thibgs that yoi never saw coming. No matter what sam Carrington writes they are always brilliant
3.5 stars
I've received this book as an ARC and true to my nature, I didn't know anything about the premise or genre of the book. ( Although I could guess according to the name๐)
So, firstly, being an ARC, I encountered a few typos etc which I hope were corrected before publishing. The book is written in first person, present tense, which isn't my most favorite so it took me a while to warm up to it.
Despite that I did enjoy the story as it developed and at a time or two I had to read between squinted eyelids. ( places where in a movie I would have peeked through semi-closed fingers as the creepy bits unfolded๐คฆโโ๏ธ)
I did feel a bit uneasy at some places ( so much so that I didn't continue last night but left the rest for broad daylight ๐คฃ).
All in all it worked as a psychological thriller and untill the unfolding, I didn't know who the guilty party was, which I liked, because reading a book and figuring it out in the beginning is kind of boring.โบ
I do think the ending dragged on a bit but that is just nit-picking.
All in all an easy to read, good storyโบ
This book made me nervous about my own house! Ha! I loved the fast pace, and the way doubt cast upon everyone in Amberโs life. Carrington made me suspect everyone, which was just fantastic, because I couldnโt ever work out who was responsible for the worst goings-on. Barb was very easy to dislike, although there was a snippet of sympathy for her, but I still enjoyed reading her snippets and trying to figure her out. The twists and turns kept me on my toes, and the ending was brilliant. I did not see that coming.
I enjoyed reading this book and loved the plot. It was a great thrilling read that I brought on vacation!
I finally read this book and my first impression is this - what could happen in an open house? I was thinking all throughout that the story is about that, but upon finishing, it is not about that at all.
Like Amber, I had a lot of suspects. I liked that she was thinking of every possible person who could be the one sabotaging her open house.
Her mother in law is one character that I didnโt like from the start. It could be because of the way her character was written, but I sensed there is something sinister about her.
Divina, the nosy neighbor is a character I liked, though not at the beginning. I liked how she turned out at the end.
All in all, this book is okay with me, though it is confusing at times. The ending is unexpected, but itโs didnโt hit anything for me.
This was a very fun, very well thought thriller and I think this could have been better if I had connected more with the characters. Unfortunately that disconnect often happens in thrillers for me, just because I assume that you are potentially lying to me and so I already am suspicious of everyone! Definitely not talked about enough though - sometimes it's nice to read something that doesn't have so much hype and to find out that it's quite enjoyable.
I did enjoy this book although I found the ending a bit chaotic.
It was a page turner and the ending was not what I expected.
This is a really credible story and that makes it all the more terrifying. Told from different perspectives, this is one of those books you will have to finish before you can do anything else. The pace was excellently managed, resisting the urge to rush but all the while maintaining the tension.
I would describe this book as a page turner - really looked forward to getting back into it each day and enjoyed reading. Story draws you in and is filled with lots of twists and turns along the way - wasn't sure I agreed with the ending but would recommend!
The Open House by Sam Carrington is the second book I have read by this author and this was another
brilliant book. Its full of twists and turns throughout that will have you gripped! I listened to this in 2 sittings
This book had me gripped from the very beginning till the end. I loved it. 5 star book from me!
I highly recommend this book.
Big Thank you to Avon and Netgalley for my advanced copy
4.5โญ
I was fortunate to receive a copy of this ARC from Avon Books and NetGalley.
I had absolutely no idea where this book was going to go when it started, and certainly couldn't have predicted the ending!
Amber is selling their house after separating but when there is an open house day, someone appears not to leave. There were so many potential suspects - the neighbour, the mother in law, the ex-husband, the new partner, the estate agent, ghosts! The story definitely sped up towards the end and I did find this maybe a bit rushed.
My favourite quote:
"The Waterside Bistro in town. Is it likely to be filled with millennials and noise?" ๐
I found this to be an enjoyable read, keeping me on my toes throughout. The storyline was written well and flowed seamlessly. I look forward to reading more by this author!

The Open House is a thriller by Sam Carrington. Amber, a recently separated Mum of two, holds an Open House to attract buyers to her home. After the open day strange things begin to happen in her family home. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital copy.
