Such a unique and inspiring Christmas story! I loved how two seemingly complete opposite people are drawn together and find a special connection that helps to repair their hearts. Cara has had such a difficult past, she dreads Christmas as it brings only sad memories, so the idea of doing a Christmas song is extremely off putting for her, yet when she hears the song from Javi she finds herself able to relate to the song and she proceeds to add her own emotions to it. Javi is cast as a bit of a playboy, on the surface he appears carefree and happy, yet the song he has written is from his very soul and it manages to reach out over the miles and different music genre to touch the heart of Cara.
It was a moving story that had me intrigued from the first chapter.
Not my usual Christmas read, it’s very deep and emotional but it’s also so rewarding to read. You completely find yourself becoming emotionally attached with the characters.
I love books that surprise me, and this one certainly did! Much more that the lighthearted read I was anticipating, I loved the journey (literally and physical) that it took me on.
What a fabulous debut book!

Could I have found a Christmas perennial? And not to hang on the tree.

I have books that I reread, or try to, each Christmas. None are by a debut author. However, I think that, yes, 'My Christmas Number One' from debut author Leonie Mack, has joined that club. The story of Cara, a singer/songwriter/musician who has very good reasons to dislike Christmas, and Javi, a Colombian musician with a colourful past. Forced together by musical circumstances, the story travels to both of their home countries as we follow the story of their music, and their personal lives.
This is a story of physical and mental highs and lows, Savour it, as I did.

My thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood books for the reading copy!

A very different love story but I loved it. It covered many delicate topics including about amputees and parents who have to share child care when they have split up and the death of a parent. .The two main characters were brilliant.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

Cara, is a serious musician and she gets her stubborn streak as she struggled to recover from a very serious injury.

Javi, on the other hand is more into escapist fun, both in his music, and in his life.

Both are forced to record a Christmas single together, They don’t want to spend more time together than they have to.
.
The magic of Christmas can bring even opposites together…Surely??

A really interesting festive story. Was not as fluffy as I was expecting but still a very engaging story. Javi and Cara has good chemistry as the leads. I liked the authors writing style and the voice that she gave to these two characters who seem like they’re worlds apart but have more in common than they realise. Worth a read.

I wasn't sure about this book when it began...but about 1/4 of the way through I really got into it. It took time for the characters to really develop, but they turned out to have very deep back stories that were integral to the plot. It helps to be bilingual if you're going to read this -- most of the Spanish is translated, but not always, plus it just flows better if you're able to think in both languages. :)
