It's so intriguing and left me wanting more. An excellent sampler that has made me desperate to read the whole book now.

Thank you NetGalley for my sampler of this book - devoured yesterday and I’ve been thinking about the rest of the story all night!
The book tells the story of Lex and her infamous past in flashback, interspersed with her story now.
In the sample only one of her siblings was met face to face but more will be being reunited as Lex has been left with a task that will ensure they are...
To say I want to read more is an understatement!!!

This is a sampler of the first 60 pages or so and I can't wait to read more after that! Such an intense and gripping book, very disturbing and dark.

Devoured this sample in one sitting and am now desperate to read the rest! Girl A is an intriguing protagonist whose voice makes you want to know more about her life. A great read so far!

I love a book that’s based on a story that you’ve read about in the news. It gives a perspective on something that you would think is impossible but is actually real and is beyond comprehension. Girl A is a psychological story that will remain with you. It’s told in a thoughtful and sensitive manner. I’ve given it 4/5 because although compelling it’s really upsetting.

Girl A is a harrowing, tragic read, but beautifully written. A fantastic debut Abigail Dean. Five stars.

Stupidly did not see that this was a sam0.e. It’s a shame, because I was really enjoying it. Lots of tension, and not a little violence. I like 5h3 way 5he story is told, beginning with 5he present and moving b@ck with flashbacks and memory recollections. This helps to ensure that growing sense of doom in the,pit of one’s stomach as you go through the novel. Compelling stuff.

This was just a sampler of Girl A and now am very intrigued to read the whole book!

I have already put this on my BooksTo Buy Wishlist for this year.

I highly recommend this book for those that love mystery/thrillers.

Enjoyed this sampler of Girl A and now very intrigued to read the whole book! I'm interested to see what the impact of chid abuse has had on all of the characters. They seem outwardly to have done well, but it's what goes on internally that is really the issue.

I didn’t enjoy this book at all, it was too depressing abs never felt like light was around the corner- perhaps that was the point, why should there be light? It was simply too much for me though.

Astonishing. I am enthralled by the prose and power of the narrative.

This is writing at its very best.

Can't wait to read it all.

This feedback is for the free sample via NetGalley of ‘Girl A’ by Abigail Dean. It is due to be published by HarperCollins U.K. on 21st January.

I looked up this title after seeing its striking cover in a list of recommended coming soon audiobooks. It clearly was receiving plenty of prepublication buzz,
and so I decided to read the sample before preordering the audiobook edition.

Well, ‘Girl A’ certainly grabbed me from the opening and after reading its 64 pages I ordered the audiobook and also put in a request for the full eARC for advance review.

I have rated this sample as 4 stars to be cautious. However, based on what I read it looks like it will indeed prove to be an impossible-to-put-down thriller.

This is the opening of Girl A; and one is definitely left wanting more. What happens, to whom; what do the surviving children do? I will be looking out for this in 2021, to find out how the story develops.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for an ARC.

A well written, sneak peak at a book I found fascinating. It starts off very mysterious and I didn’t want to put it down.
It flowed well and I was sorry to see it end. I really, really hope I get to read the full book. From what I read I highly recommend this book for those that love mystery/thrillers.

Thank you Harper Collins UK via Netgalley for this ARC, in exchange for my honest review.

Lex and her siblings grew up in her parents house of horrors, she managed to escape and was known as “Child A the girl who survived”

When Lex’s mother dies in prison, she is asked to be the executor of her mother’s will, as she has left her their childhood home and £20,000 to be shared between her siblings.

Along with her sister Evie’s help, she wants to turn the house into something good but will need to get her other siblings to agree. Lex has to face the childhood that she had left behind and meet up with her family, bringing all the bad memories back.

The book goes back to when they were children and how they were badly treated by their parents. I must admit to crying, as this felt so real and you do read about cases like this in the newspapers!!

This had me gripped from the start, you can’t help but be drawn in with this beautifully written story about survival against all odds.

This is going to be a must read book of 2021.

I’m quite cross at myself for not realising that this was a sampler and not the whole book I thought it was! However, what I read was really good and well written. I can’t wait to get my hands on the whole book!!

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for reading this sample in exchange for my honest review.

I began reading this book without realising it was only a sampler and was frustrated when it suddenly stopped as it is so good. However, I now have the full book to read and will post a full review later. The author has a unique writing style and the book is told from different points of view in flashbacks by characters who have escaped from a cult. It's fascinating, well written and I can't wait to continue reading.
