This was an amazing book. It was captivating, upsetting, unforgettable. To think that Ariana lived her life totally unaware of all that her father endured. There are many books, both fact and fiction, based on the atrocities committed during the Holocaust but this most certainly is one of the better ones that I have enjoyed. It was truly enlightening and gave wonderful insight into the life of a Jew who chose to stay in Nazi occupied Germany and work for the allies, in an attempt to aid the greater good. It's a book that will stay with me for a long time to come, and one I highly recommend.
I started this audiobook a couple of days ago but my listening was interrupted by the August Bank Holiday weekend and I’ve returned to listen on but the audiobook has disappeared from my Netgalley app and I see it’s been archived. This is a shame as o was enjoying it. I’m required to rate it but think it unfair to deduct starts for what may be teething problems with the new app and provision of audiobooks therefore I will click 5 stars. If the audiobook can be reinstated I’ll be happy to finish listening and update this review.
