This is a horror/thriller which is the 2nd book in the Bird Box series. I enjoyed the book, even though I haven't yet read Bird Box or watched any of the tv shows.

Malorie and her two children are now older and we go on a scary and creepy adventure with them, which is dangerous, with a lot of twists and turns.

The audiobook narrator was perfect for the story, and she did a great job at keeping up the fast pace, and with building and holding the tension and suspense.

If you are looking for a thrilling adventure which will creep you out and keep you on the edge of your seat, then this is the book for you.

Many thanks to the author, narrator, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

I found Malorie to be an ok book, unfortunately, it paled in comparison to Bird Box. It was interesting to return and learn what happened to Malorie after the first book and Katherine Mangold did a good job narrating the book. I just wish the story had pulled me more.

The sequel to the fantastic Bird Box I was so eager to get into Malorie. Set years after Bird Box still living in a world full of horrors, Malorie’s children are now in their teens. Believing that the monsters can drive people insane by touch and vision Malorie battles to keep herself and her children safe. The overall atmosphere of panic that flows from the narrator of this novel to your ears and into your chest is unnerving. And the twist that came at the end of the book was amazing. If you loved Bird Box you’ll love this, Malorie seemed more filled with anxiety, terror and dread and kept me listening until way too late at night. An absolute cracker of a book

I really enjoyed Bird Box, the first book in this series. I was interested to see what happened next and if we would find out what the creatures were and how they had the effect on people that they had. I didn't love this book unfortunately. I liked the development but it just didn't feel like a fulfilling sequel and I feel like it could have been left as a standalone.

A good sequel to Bird Box. i liked finding out what happened to the characters next. however, i didn't think it was as creepy as the first and the story dragged on, especially the sections with the train.

The disturbing, apocalyptic sequel you didn’t know you needed but will be so grateful for! ⁣

This book starts off with a bang right from page 1! I listened to the audio and I highly recommend it. The opening scene was powerful and I was instantly transported back into the dangerous Bird Box world. We are literally dropped into utter chaos and instantly feel the frenzy and horror Malorie is facing. ⁣

In this sequel, Malorie is faced with a changing world that she must either continue hiding away from or adapt to. Faced with the possibility of finding other survivors Malorie, Tom and Olympia (now teenagers) embark on another blindfolded, dangerous quest. ⁣

Reading this book during quarantine felt strangely fitting. I could easily identify with how trapped the characters felt by the life they were forced to live in order to survive. ⁣

I won’t give things away here but I sped through this audio, unable to tear myself away. Listening to it, I felt just as in the dark as Malorie - fraught with tension and holding my breath as I waited for something bad to happen at every turn. The only thing I’m still missing/craving is more insight into the creatures. We got some here but I’m greedy for the whole story. Hopefully we have another book in our future that explores them in even greater detail. ⁣

In short, Josh Malerman does not disappoint with this sequel! It was a solid supernatural horror that will keep you feeling unsettled until you turn the last page. It was a nerve-wrecking read and I thoroughly enjoyed every tense second spent listening to 𝘔𝘢𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦!

After Bird-Box, this was the perfect follow up. I loved the story and the characters were even further developed.

This is the first audiobook that I have ever listened to and let me just say, it was absolutely amazing. I was familiar with the series from netflix like many others so figured i'd give this book a try. It was fantastic. Kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

In the old world there were many rules.
In the new world there is only one that matters: don't open your eyes.

In the seventeen years since the 'creatures' appeared, many people have broken that rule. Many have looked. Many have lost their minds, their lives, their loved ones.
Absolutely amazing book. Suspense from begging. I couldn't put it down! Thanks Netgalley

I wanted to love this as I loved Bird Box too so I was incredibly excited when I heard about Malorie but I wasn't as impressed and I was first time around.. The story was not as well written or as well thought out. It was well narrated though. It followed on well from Bird Box. It was full of suspense, it was eerie but I found it confusing in parts. Tom and Olympia are ten years older now and have been spectacularly sheltered from everything. They become curious however knowing only life outside of their own through novels. Malorie is truly paranoid, obsessively afraid of all around her. They suffer as a result. This book is gripping at times but quite disjointed. It was a page turner. I enjoyed the beginning and most of the ending but I got lost a bit along the way.

A good sequel but there were elements to it (like Tom's invention) that I didn't quite get, and couldn't suspend my disbelief either. I wish there was some kind of explanation for why the creatures where there, but alas no. Maybe there will be a third book sometime.

This was my first audiobook ... it was a great story and a great sequel to the bird box but I must admit I do certainly prefer to read the book and cannot wait to purchase this one.

Malorie is a sequel to Bird Box that is set 17 years after we first read about the creatures and I was really looking forward to reading it as was hoping it would clarify some of the questions that I had after finishing the first book.

Now although I liked the book in general I felt it wasn’t as creepy as the first and also the so called creatures took more of a back seat in the whole story. I would have liked to have seen more action from them especially as we learn that in the last 17 years they have evolved.

What I did enjoy was seeing how the children have grown and adapted to life livening and avoiding these creatures. I have to admit out of the now two teenagers I didn’t like Tom’s character. He was always trying to defy Malorie and he was just a bit annoying, as was Malorie’s character. However, Olympia was my favourite she somehow was the only character I felt was actually believable and one that I would like to be friends with.

Overall Malorie was a good read but it was definitely a slow burn. Also, after finishing this book I feel that it wasn’t really needed. In all honesty I would have liked it better if the book was based on life after they reached the safe place.

This was my second audiobook from NetGalley and thought the narrator was really good, also I had no technical issues like the first NetGalley audiobook.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publishers Hachette Audio UK, Orion for a copy of my audiobook in return for an honest and unbiased review.

Having read Birdbox, I was eager to read the follow up and I wasn’t disappointed!
I actually enjoyed this book more than Birdbox. It follows Malorie and her children, Tom and Olympia, seventeen years after the creatures first appeared.
They have moved on from the School for the Blind, which is where we left them at the end of Birdbox, and find that a ‘census taker’ has stopped by their refuge and left a list of names he has complied of survivors. On the list are two names Malorie thought she’d never see or hear again, will she break all her own rules to see if the list is in fact true and her parents are still alive?
This is a great story, full of suspense and thrills that really make you feel like you’re on the journey with this loveable trio. The children have grown into teens who are fighting to balance everything their mother has drummed into them since birth, with their desire to know more about the world their live in. If you enjoyed Birdbox, I would definitely recommend giving Malorie a whirl! Four shiny stars from me!

I was so excited to discover that Netgalley are starting audiobooks. I listen to a lot of them whilst working, and since lockdown I have lost my reading mojo and have barely read anything properly so audios have been a literary lifeline for me while I slowly build my reading back up.

Unfortuantely, I was unable to listen to this via Netgally due to the nature of the file. i tried a few things but just couldn't get it to work. Would be great and a lot more convenient if files could be downloaded as an mp3 file and not through an app which seemed incredibly glitchy at first launch.

I was, however, able to get hold of this audiobook through my local library. This is a solid sequel to Bird Box. It's claustrophobic and paranoid, and generally a good read. A few utterly absurd bits, as well as some aspects that could have been expanded on a lot more. Don't normally wish for a third, but I do hope Malerman turns this into a trilogy as there is still so much that could be explored in this creepy world.
