I enjoyed this book. It had the exact right amount of medical detail to set the scene as background for these doctors and their romance.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.
An interesting and enjoyable story about trauma Drs Michelle and Jacob and their bid to lead a new trauma team. It took me out of my workd into theirs for a while and was difficult to put down.
Unfortunately, I was slow in downloading this story and it was archived before I had the chance. I'm sure it is a wonderful read.
I read this ARC for an honest review
All thoughts and opinions are mine
I really enjoyed this
An enjoyable afternoon spent reading this
A well written book that looks at the difficulties that people can face
Michelle and Jacob are trauma doctors both vying to be the head of the new trauma centre but both have their own secrets. Michelle is battling PTSD as a result of her overseas tours and Jacob has an autistic daughter that he needs to protect
I loved both Michelle and Jacob and their stories work so well together. He is the one who gets her to even consider therapy and she is the person who he isn’t sure he can live without (blurb extract not a spoiler!)
They are both so human and well written that you can feel the leaping off the page and you can see the intensity and drama that is the backdrop to their story. They both, but especially Michelle, develop so much in the story and the issue of mental health isn’t hidden but is instead treated respectfully and in an honest manner which I liked
Set in a busy trauma centre in Surrey the medical details flow and work so well but may not always be suitable if you don’t like a lot of detail in what has happened to people (uk readers think 24 hours in A&E)
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a well written medical romance with lots of drama and characters who are so real
Michelle has been working as a trauma doctor but when her current tour ends in her best friend being killed she decides that she needs to return to normal and comes back to her hospital only to be confronted with Jacob the man she must now compete with for her job! Jacob is also the man who slept with her best friend.
Michelle must learn to trust in Jacob but also learn to trust in herself and overcome the trauma associated with losing her friend.
This was a lovely story and I really felt for both characters and wanted them to work it out.
4 - "You don’t have to do this alone…" Stars!
Rachel Dove’s first release through the M&B Medical imprint was a winner for me. The locale of St. Marshall’s Hospital and the secondary characters offered up enough of a base that I hope that Michelle and Jacob’s story is the first of many that the author sets there.
She needed her job-her normality-back…
Both doctors are at the hospital vying for the same position in the trauma centre, Michelle having recently returned from a brutal posting overseas is still dealing with more than a few ghosts, and keeping up the illusion of normality in her working life is one of the few things that is keeping her together.
Jacob has his own set of issues that he is trying to deal with as well, so you would initially think that they would be enemies, what with them both desperately wanting to keep the same job. But it isn’t long before Michelle see’s that there’s much more to the man than the ‘player’ reputation that preceded him, and as well as being a good doctor he also seems to have the knack of smoothing out those rough edges she is trying so desperately to keep others from seeing.
The feel of him stirred things within her, but she hadn’t got where she was by mixing business with pleasure.
An enjoyable read, that dealt with a couple of heavier issues without too much depth, but still respectfully, the author has a knack of pulling you into her stories, as well as liking her characters and Fighting For the Trauma Doc’s Heart lived up to my expectations on every level. I hope to see more from Rachel soon.
Oh wow!! Another absolutely fantastic read which has completely captured me and pulled me right in. This is a beautiful read and I've definitely had al the feels reading this one.
I've called Rachel a queen of romance on many occasions after finishing one of her books. This is not only romantic but she has also aced the medical aspect. I've had proper hospital feels from this book.
I absolutely adore Jacob and Michelle, both are realistic and as a reader you can sense the sexual tension between them from very early on in this book. I've definitely been rooting for them.
Although this is different from the style Rachel usually writes, it is an absolutely wonderful read. I can safely say Rachel is suited to writing this style of book and I'm so excited for the next one.
I have loved the romance element of this book, it is definitely my favourite genre and I'm a sucker for a happy ending. However, I love the casualty and Grey's anatomy feels I've had while reading this book.
Another amazing read that I will definitely be highly recommending. Absolutely deserving of five stars, only I wish I could give this one so many more.
Fighting For The Trauma Doc's Heart is a lovely emotionally charged read, with characters that are relatable and real. A very nice read.
Rachel Dove wastes no time dropping her reader right into the thick of life in a trauma unit as she introduces us to two surgeons vying for the same top level job. And with verbal sparring, misunderstandings and attraction, there’s no shortage of intensity from this couple.
“He was her rival, a player who had slept with a friend she still mourned, but she just couldn’t leave him alone.
Michelle and Jacob are both strong personalities and her stubborn, guarded, fiery nature is complimented by his more easy-going, charming and grounding presence. However, delve deeper and you start to enter territory which brings moments that tug at your heart; both are dealing with their own problems alone but rather than make this a heavier read, the grief, guilt, PTSD and conditions featured bring another layer to the romance, their chemistry and character development
“...when it came to the crunch—her or the job—he didn’t have a clue which one he would fight for and which one he could bear to live without. “
With a nice dose of cute injected by Jacob’s 5 year old daughter, Fighting for the Trauma Doc’s Heart is a strong debut in the medical imprint for Rachel Dove and an enjoyable debut read of her work for me. And going on the fact she has a reader right here for the foreseeable, I’ll happily recommend.
Received an ARC from Netgalley in return for a review.
This is a new author to me and I will be looking for more of her work. I loved this story - Michelle and Jacob were well drawn and sympathetic characters and their story evolved in such a realistic and emotionally satisfying way. Highly recommended
