I've only just discovered Lisa Ungers writing, this is the third book by her I've read now in a month. Lisa's books are getting better with each one I read.
Confessions on the 7.45 is a thrilling book. You should never tell your deepest secrets to a stranger but that's exactly what Selena does! Revealing all to another woman on a train has a shocking knock on effect for everyone involved. Brilliantly written I highly recommend this book.
Thanks to NetGalley and the author for the opportunity to read this book.

Secrets Traded On A Train.....
Who would you trust? A compelling psychological suspense. From secrets traded on a train to a menacing series of events. Are they connected? Through a gradual build of tension, information and differing perspectives the reader is treated to surprise after surprise as the denouement approaches. An engaging and often disturbing read.

I can’t even begin to describe how much I loved this book. Fantastic characters, great plot, completely unpredictable and absolutely compelling.

4-5 stars
Selena Murphy realises her husband Graham is cheating yet again, this time with the nanny Geneva.. She’s had enough and one evening on the 7.45 train she unburdens to a stranger who reciprocates. This stranger is Martha. A few days later, Geneva disappears and Selena life gradually implodes. The story is told from several points of view which initially don’t seem to connect but do so very cleverly.
This is yet another edge of your seat thriller from Lisa Unger who I’m beginning to think is the mistress of mystery, suspense and the twisted tale. What is so bewildering clever is that so many of the characters wear disguises which they shed like snake skin and leaves you pondering ‘Who or what exactly are you?’ It’s very well written, the plot is perfectly paced, has elements of unpredictability some of which are breathtakingly shocking which of course makes it compelling reading. It’s a tale of revenge and seriously messed up revenge at that and what becomes apparent is that several family’s lives are built with as much fragility as a house of cards. Easy to destroy and leaves little behind.
Overall, a creative novel of dangerous secrets and multiple layers of lies, it’s intriguing, well written and totally engrossing.
With thanks to NetGalley and HQ General Fiction for the ARC for an unbiased review.

I’ll be honest, as this is a new author for me I didn’t expect to be so impressed - but I WAS!!!!! This book had me gripped from the opening chapters and I found myself staying awake an extra two hours just so I could finish it. Just that one line sent chills through me and I knew I’d be hooked.. “it’s Martha by the way, from the train”. Ahhhh I loved it! I’ll definitely be checking out her other books.

This is the best book I’ve read this year and you have to read it too! I was on the edge of my seat!
I have a love-hate relationship with Lisa Unger but Confessions On The 7:45 is a piece of art!
It took a couple of chapters to grab me but it didn’t let go!
Told from multiple characters points of view, this story has some fantastic characters and they’re all fleshed out. Some stories twist together towards the end that I really wasn’t expecting. Plot was original and definitely left me wanting more! Glad that publishing week is a friends birthday...I’ll be buying this!
I have no negatives, this is a 5/5 book!

The 7.45 train takes you on a high speed journey full of secrets, surprises and murder.
Fast paced from the start, it tells the story of two women who meet aboard the 7.45 train by chance....... or maybe not.
The book is told from multiple points of views, going from the present to the past, linking all the characters together.
My favourite character was Martha and as her story unravelled, it made me realise how through no fault of your own, events in your past can shape the person you become.
Lots of twists and turns along the way, a good solid physiological thriller, that’s definitely worth a read.
Thank you NetGalley and HQ for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Oh my goodness me. Wowsers what a read, complete five star review here. Absolutely loved it from beginning to end. Fast paced, twists and turns, and ending you just don’t see coming. Amazing. The best book I’ve read in along time.
Highly recommended. Thanks for the arc.

2.5 stars rounded up.
Having finished this book I'm struggling to think of what to write. Not because it's bad, but because it wasn't great either.
I seem to be in the minority here, but this just didn't grab me. It started off well but then started to bore me and I ended up not really caring about it. Plus it seemed to take me forever to read, which is not a good sign.
This just wasn't what I expected, so I felt let down by it.

I greatly enjoyed this book, thank you for giving me a preview copy. The plot was interesting and fast paced and I sympathised with the characters. This is the first novel I have read by this author but I hope it will not be the last!

I liked the premise of this title and it didn't disappoint. The writing was engaging and I felt compelled to read this novel in a day.
On the 7.45 train, two strangers share their secrets. On the nanny cam, Selena has caught her husband, Graham, cheating with their nanny, Geneva.. Anne has been fired from her job after having an affair with the husband of her boss.. They talked about problems disappearing , so when Geneva goes missing, we are left wondering who is responsible.
As the novel progresses, we learn more about Anne and her past as Pearl and alter egos, Martha, Elizabeth and more.
The plot is clever and I was impressed with how it all came together in the end. I particularly liked the climactic scene between Graham and Selena, which was gripping.
My only criticism would be that there were perhaps too many different perspectives. We had Anne in various different guises, Cora (Selena's mother), Oliver (Selena's son) and the private detective, Hunter.
If you are looking for a compelling, unique thriller, then I would highly recommend this book.
Many thanks to Harpercollins and netgalley for the ARC.

I really enjoyed this book and its multi layered story. With multiple pov, the strands of each character are twisted and tangled together. Lots of disturbing characters and deceit throughout makes this a delicious read.

A sincere thank you to the publisher, author and Netgalley for providing me with an ebook copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This is not my usual genre, I’m more into romance stories and literary fiction however I wanted to take the opportunity to read something from outside my norm. And I am glad I did!! Thank you for opening up my mind to something totally different.

I read this book in two days, the plot was unique. Selena is a working mum whose husband is languishing at home and seems to have given up trying to find a job. Selena catches her husband and their nanny together on the nanny cam. Selena is strangely unaffected by his infidelity, and it is only when she meets a mysterious stranger on the train in her way home that Selena confesses what has happened. She will regret this decision, and in the ensuing days the delicate web of lies that permeate her life and that of her family will unfold and the links to Pearl and Geneva will be exposed once and for all. I was genuinely surprised by this book, the skilful way in which the characters and back story developed was really refreshing. There were quite a few jaw dropping twists and realisations for the characters and the reader. A definite 5 stars from me.

It's a while since I sat and read a Lisa Unger novel and I am so glad I sat quietly in the sun reading this one for large periods of the day. I lose track of characters in novels at the best of times but this one is full of characters with multiple identities. I found myself flicking backwards and forewords to recap on parts of the book to get it clear in my mind. The good news though is that the book is well worth the trouble and a thoroughly good read.
Selena Murphy is travelling home on a train after work when she makes conversation with a woman. The woman, Martha is a stranger to Selena but feels she can share a confession that she is having an affair with her boss. Feeling the need to tell a secret of her own, Selena shares her own secret that she suspects her husband is sleeping with the nanny. The women say their goodbyes and Selena never expects to see Martha again. All that changes when Selena receives an unexpected message from Martha asking if they can continue their conversation. How can this be? Selena had never given out her phone number and when the nanny goes missing a few days later she wonders if there is a connection.
A very twisty novel with more than a few surprises making this novel an exciting read that will keep you guessing. Read it in one day which certainly helped me keep track of the characters but the book kept me reading one more chapter anyway.
This is a gripping psychological thriller that is a great read.
I would like to thank both Netgalley and HQ for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Would you tell the person you just met on the train your darkest secrets? Selena did. She confessed to the stranger that she suspects her husband sleeping with a nanny. Then the nanny goes missing. This is just the beginning of the twisted story. The spiral of secrets have started.
Wow! What a book. Lie after lie, secret after secret. The story is told from 3 points of view. There is infidelity, flawed family relations and few very professional con artist, who take their job really serious.
Once I started reading I was unable to put it down until all the secrets unravel. There is so many mysterious characters it makes your head spin. Emotional roller coaster. You don't know who to trust.
I would recommend “Confessions on 7:45” to all the mystery and suspense lovers. It has all it takes to make an excellent psychological thriller.

I really enjoyed this book and will give it a huge thumbs up. With a great story line and excellent main characters - I would highly recommend this book.

This is the first book I have read by this author and it won't be the last. The front cover and title appealed to me, reminding me of another book I read and thoroughly enjoyed. I wasn't disappointed. This is a twisted tale that I didnt want to put down. Amongst many things, it explores the concept that nobody's life is perfect, despite what we portray to the rest of the world - the perfect house, the perfect garden, the perfect job, husband, family. We are all hiding insecurities and possibly secrets.
The character of Serena grabbed me from the start. A strong, independent, hard working mother of 2 boys but why is she able to emotionally distance herself from her husband's infidelities? Is there a hardness to her character? These were the questions I was already asking at the start of the book. I needed to find out more.
The book introduces a lot of different characters and scenarios from the beginning, all of which, at first, seem to be very separate. I have to admit I did find myself having to go back a couple of times to check who was who. However, what makes this book a 5 star read is the way the author very cleverly interweaves the lifes of all of the characters whilst keeping it a mystery to the reader. When all does become clear, it is the vulnerability of these characters and the way each one is flawed that is intriguing. I wanted to find out how this story would play out. Who killed who? Who is behind it all?
Confessions on the 7.45 is a riveting read that I really enjoyed. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for enabling me to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Initially I struggled to get in to this book which frustrated me because I had high hopes for it from the synopsis. I stopped reading after about 4/5 chapters and went back to it after I started reading, and finished another book and I’m so glad I did!
I was then hooked.
Confessions on the 7:45 is the story of Selena who is involved in a conversation with a woman she never met on the train home from work. Each woman shared a secret thinking they would never see each other again but then the woman from the train tracks down Selena and texts her asking to see her again.
What follows is a fast paced book told from many different points of view that collide at the end of the book.
It’s one of those books that you can see happening. How many times have we all chatted to a stranger on a journey, only this book is about a conversation that was more deeper than most would get in to with consequences that make for a really enjoyable thriller!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for gifting me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Fast-paced with lots of twists and turns along the way. This is about a woman called Selena, who shares secrets about her life to a stranger, Martha on the train. This is told through multiple narrators which works well and I highly recommend it.
Thanks to NetGalley for this copy.
