I really liked this story and can't wait for the sequel! I was in the mood for a good vampire book after I read the Twilight book again. So I chose "Crave" to be my next read. I didn't had high expectations for it and I was so surprised by the story. I was so swept away by this fun and full of secrets story.
Jaxon is a bad boy you just have to fall for. And all the other boys out of The Order.
Sometimes the too many secrets where a bit unnerving but it didn't break my will to read to read on and find all out. At the end there are still some questions open but I have high hopes that all are answered in the sequel.
I can highly recommend this book!

Thank you so much Hodder & Stoughton for an e-copy of this book.

I can’t believe I am going to give 5 stars to this book. No offence, but I was so sceptical about picking up a Twilight 2.0 (as everybody is labelling this book) and I was so wrong. And, I feel I need to clarify, I was not a fan of the Twilight series. But I really enjoyed Crave, it was such a fun read.

Crave tells the story of Grace, who just lost her parents in a terrible accident. She has no family left, except an uncle who is also the headmaster of an apparently super-elite boarding school, situated in a remote area of Alaska. Grace moves to Katmere Academy and discovers a world where magical creatures exist, including (sexy) vampires.

I have to say, Grace didn’t strike me with a very strong personality. However, the writer does a great job in adding witty and snarky remarks and jokes, and you like Grace for what she is, a teenager who has seen too much already but is trying her best to move on with her life. As the story is told from Grace’s perspective, it’s also the world that she encounters that ultimately becomes quite fascinating for the reader.

While Grace is obviously unaware of what is going on, the reader can not help but laugh out loud at certain situations – the Twilight book comment or watching Legacies on Netflix – that was hilarious. However, when Grace finally discovers the truth about the academy, the story becomes darker and more fast-paced. We get more action and you just forget you have real life responsibilities to attend to, a cat to feed and a job to do, and you can’t put the book down.

And then, of course, there is the more obvious fast-track romance with the broody, sexy, dangerous vampire, Jaxon Vega. And again, after the truth is out, Jaxon’s story becomes even more dramatic and intriguing.

It’s a fun story, with an unpredictable cliff-hanger, I would say it’s between YA and New Adult because of the constant sexual tension between Grace and Jaxon. It has lots of paranormal elements, you get witches, warlocks, dragons, werewolf, and vampires, but it will also make you giggle. For me, rather than Twilight, because I never cared about Edward (I was more an Eric Northman-kind-of-girl) this book reminded me a lot of the Shatter Me series, in terms of romance. It fills the emptiness Warnette left in my heart.

"So if you aren't afraid of things that go bump in the night, what are you afraid of?"

I had seen this book all over bookstagram so when I saw it was on NetGalley, I was super excited to read and get approved for a copy. I haven't read a lot of Vampire romance since my early teens, so I enjoyed returning to the genre.

The story follows Grace, who was recently orphaned and is being sent to Alaska to stay with the only family she has: her uncle and his daughter, Macy. Since her uncle is the headmaster of the prestigious Katmere Academy, Grace is enrolled and meets Jaxon Vega.

I liked that this book kept it's originality. The inclusion of dragons and vampire royalty was really interesting and helped Crave to stand out. The quips as chapter headings were amusing and tied in well with Grace's sarcastic narration. I loved Jaxon, Macy and Flint as characters and especially liked the Order. The world building was exceptional and easy to imagine. I loved the finale and can't wait to read the next book to see what happens. The included chapters from Jaxon's POV were an amazing addition and very insightful.

However, this book seemed too long, especially when the events all occurred within a week. She literally lost her parents 5 weeks before?!?! How can she be thinking about boys and snowball fights?? I'm not the biggest fan of insta-love and Jaxon gave me whiplash. Grace was such a strong character in some chapters and I wanted to see more of that. I felt like Jaxon treated her like an invalid and there were only a few instances when she confronted him about it. I thought the villain was a bit obvious but there were enough other twists to keep me intrigued.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Ok hear me out, I know from the cover there's a distinct *Twilight* vibe and I know a lot of people have made several comparisons between Crave and Twilight on bookish social media and the likes, even I'm guilty of judging this book by its cover. But try and hold your judgements because I think you'll be really surprised by this book!

Crave is a really good binge read, it's one of those books you start late at night thinking you'll only read a couple of chapters but you look at the time and suddenly it's 2am (true story haha). This book has everything, high school romances, insta love, slight love triangle, supernatural creatures, cliques and a whole lot of mystery.

Everyone's is so suspicious, Grace's cousin and uncle, EVERYONE student, I like the subtle hints directed towards certain characters, I love it when I'm right about a character. Crave has a major case of insta love, and while I found it slightly cringe, I did like it. The characters are interesting and the plotline is shrouded in enough mystery to keep you reading. Towards the end of Crave there are quite a few violent scenes between the characters though so I would keep that in mind and grief does feature heavily in this book as well, but I did find those scenes to be really well written.

Crave is YA  (young adult) book through and through, I did find it to be a bit cringe in some parts but that might be because I am a little bit older than the intended audience. I also found there to be a bit of repetition, such as Grace kept mentioning "she's a therapist" about a character we don't meet throughout the book and it kinda got to the point where I was like "I know" (Monica Geller style!), it was just something I picked up on. I did really enjoy Crave though, I read half of it in one night because I just couldn't put it down and when pre orders for the second book come out in the UK, I'll be pre-ordering for sure, especially after that ending ;)

I was delighted to be chosen to review Crave via NetGalley. I adore fantasy romance so this seemed like a perfect fit.

Grace moves from the heat and glamour of California to the furthest outreaches of Alaska following her parents death.

She know there is something “off” about the elite school her uncle runs but is so caught up in reconnecting with her cousin and her attraction to the cool and aloof Jaxon.

I started with hope for a live story to match Bella and Edward, unfortunately it falls short.

Grace is fairly likeable although a little dense - Jaxon is hot & cold then hot & cold and then ............... you’ve guessed it hot & cold!

The story really took sometime to get going and whilst I did enjoy it once it did progress it wasn’t as thrilling as I’d hoped it would be.

There are some great descriptive situations with some twists and turns along the way.

Aimed at YA I felt there was too much unnecessary swearing including multiple F bombs especially towards the end as the action heats up.

As a parent I didn’t monitor my YA reading material if it was aimed at there age group. I would not have been happy for them to have read this on that basis.

Overall - good but not great with some interesting twists.

Unfortunately I really struggled to get into this book and only managed to get 6% through before admiring defeat.

I’m not going to lie, this was a bit of a filler book for me until Midnight Sun gets released this week. It felt like time to dip my toes back in the YA vampire romance universe. Everything about this book just screamed “Twilight Rip Off” from the black, white and red simplistic cover to the human teenage heroine Grace and the dark and brooding teenage vampire Jaxon Vega.

Once I started reading though I was really pleasantly surprised. Yes there is a bit of an homage to Twilight – even including Jaxon giving a copy to Grace to read! – but Wolff has made her own changes to vampire lore and there are a few other supernatural creatures thrown in for good measure. Grace is a tough cookie, recently orphaned and sent to live with her Uncle and cousin in Alaska. She isn’t the simpering leading lady. She is strong and opinionated and knows what she wants.

Despite my own misgivings I devoured this book in just a couple of days, often reading into the early hours because it was just so hard to put down. My biggest issue was the fact that the book ended so suddenly on quite a shocking cliffhanger. Reading the eBook version I thought I had a good chunk of the book left but there are three key chapters that have been rewritten from the point of view of Jaxon – sounds familiar?! These are actually quite interesting and worth a read but it did mean the book ended quite abruptly. Looks like I’ve got a long wait until Crush is released <sigh>

Its not surprising to hear that Universal Pictures have already picked up the movie rights to this saga. It feels like this one could run and run.

Tracy Wolff's Crave brought me an incredible amount of joy, that no vampire book since Twilight has given me.

Crave was everything that I wished it to be: angsty, ridiculous, dramatic, and funny. I loved Jaxon and Grace, especially when the latter was always just like "meh. I don't care" and Jaxon is like "????"

Honestly, it is hard to talk about this book without spoiling it, because I want to talk about all the moments that I loved: both the genuine good moments, but also the hilarious, this-is-so-bad-but-it is-just-so good-at-the-same-time ones.

I can say with certainty, without the need for spoilers, that if you are looking for some good entertainment and a fun read, that is both unique but filled with the classic tropes and clichés of early to late 2000's YA, then this is the book for you.

I can't wait for the sequel.

I was super excited to be selected to review this book as I’m a sucker for a fantasy romance - excuse the pun!

I struggled to get fully into the book but In the end overall I enjoyed it. The ending for me really made the story!

It reminded me so much of twilight! Which is fine, as I loved twilight! But I found myself always comparing the two.

I’m glad to have been chosen to read and if anyone enjoyed twilight then I’d recommend to try crave.

Crave is so bad.
Literally unreviewably bad.
Plot? We don't know her. Well written female characters? What is that. Non-racist depictions of POC? Get outta town!
If you want to read a terrible book, I wouldn't even reccomend this one. Go somewhere else.

I really enjoyed this book and thought that it was an excellent read!

It was literally a book that left me saying "WOW"!!

I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.

It has me fully engrossed from start to finish

It is definitely 5 stars from me for this one!!
Very, very highly recommended!!

I enjoyed this book, but it could’ve been significantly shorter.
The story was a bit cliched and lacked a real plot at points. A plus point was that there was less angst than I’m used to from other vampire books.

Overall a solid read, but nothing exceptional.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-arc of this book! My opinions are my own.

When I read this book was about a young girl falling in love with a dangerous vampire, it was hard not to think of a certain well-known story. But I was in the mood for a good old vampire story, so I thought I'd give Crave a go. And am I glad I did!

We meet Grace, a teenage girl who just lost her parents. After their death, she moves to Alaska to live with her cousin Macy and uncle Finn, who is the headmaster of a boarding school. The other students don't exactly make her feel welcome, though. Especially this one guy Jaxon who seems to have everyone afraid of him. He's the brooding, secretive type, and obviously the most desirable human being in the entire world. Except he's not human.

Everyone who's ever read a YA vampire book knows where the story is going from here. However, the author still manages to surprise the reader with interesting characters and some nice plot twists. And I must say it's very refreshing to have a female main character who doesn't just give in to the overprotective nature of her love interest, but calls him out on it and doesn't lose her sarcasm in the meantime.

There is still a lot of back story that is unclear and side characters that could do with some development. Seeing as this is a trilogy, I'm hoping to read more about that in the later books! All in all I can certainly recommend this book!

Is it the most original vampire YA book? No, it's not.

Did I thoroughly enjoyed it? Absolutely

I liked the world, the characters, the surroundings. It's a true YA romance and it took me years back to my first live and my high school.

It's funny, quirky and absolutely relatable.

I read lots of negative reviews on here saying that it's too simple and silly but I guess they don't really remember how it is to be a teenager.

The castle, Alaska and descriptions paint a beautiful mysterious world that you can't wait to explore with the characters.

The twists are predictable but nonetheless enjoyable.

Highly recommend for light mood lifting read especially if you like vampires, can't wait for the second one.

I went into this hearing a lot about this book. It had been described to be as a new Twilight and if anyone knows me, I was obsessed with that series back in the day so I jumped on the opportunity to read this ARC.

What did I like?
1. First of all, the entire setting was something I loved. Coincidentally, I am writing a book about a school in Alaska so it was funny to read a book that is also set there. I think the concept was interesting and I liked that our main cheat after didn’t know what was happening when she arrived.
2. The characters carried this book! I think the dynamics between everyone were interesting and unique and I really could see the threads of friendship and romance.
3. I loved Jaxon. That’s it. Loved him.

I think the one thing I thought could have been expanded on was her parents death. The book starts off saying they are dead but doesn’t explain how or why. I also think it’s strange we never explored more about the reasoning behind why they were killed when we find that out.

Overall, I would 100% recommend this paranormal romance. It felt like such a nostalgic book and I adored every minute of this!

I loved Crave, it literally kept me up all night, turning page after page.
There are always going to be comparisons to ‘other’ vampire books in the marketplace, but what makes this stand out is the use of language, imagery and dragons!
I really liked how Wolff kept you in suspense, not revealing the big twist until 3/4’s of the way through the book.
I can’t wait to read the next instalment in the series.

Grace’s life changes irrevocably in an instant when her parents are killed in a horrific car accident. She has to leave behind the only life she knows in California to move to frigid Alaska with her last remaining family, her uncle Finn and cousin Macy. Finn is the headmaster of a prestigious boarding school which Grace will attend.

When she arrives at Katmere Academy, all eyes are on Grace. She immediately feels like she doesn’t belong, which isn’t helped by the handsome, mysterious stranger she meets who makes it clear she’s not welcome there and should leave immediately.

Grace realises something is a little weird at Katmere, everyone seems to be hiding something from her but that secret is soon revealed and Grace learns she’s the only human at a school full of witches, dragons, wolf shifters and vampires.

I’ve read a lot of supernatural academy type books over the last few years.. some good and some not so good, but I really enjoyed Crave. It’s a long book (almost 600 pages) but I don’t mind that, in fact I preferred it in this case because I didn’t want the story to end. I actually read it cover to cover in just one sitting.

Are there parallels with Twilight.. yes.
Is it a little bit cheesy and predictable at times.. yes.
Did I care.. absolutely not! I live for these kind of books.

I enjoyed the authors writing style and pacing, it didn’t feel too long.. in fact the ending crept up on me when I wasn’t expecting it (and didn’t want it!). I loved the host of different characters she created, especially Grace, Jaxon and Macy! Grace is sassy and takes no nonsense from anyone, Macy is just lovely (I hope we get to see more from her in the next instalment) and Jaxon is the typical beautiful, dangerous, brooding lead. He’s secretly a softy though,

My only concern is... when is book 2 coming out?!

Thanks to NetGalley and Hodder & Staunton for providing the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

If, like me, you grew up on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Vampire Diaries and Twilight, then read this book...like NOW!
I read this book at the beginning of lockdown after being stuck in a massive reading slump for years. This book reignited my love of YA books and fantasy! It's such an addictive read - I couldn't get enough! I've already pre-ordered the sequel, Crush.
The story follows Grace who finds herself at Katmere Academy, her Uncle's boarding school in Alaska, and totally drawn in by the school's most well known student, Jaxon Vega. But, in true YA Fantasy fashion, things are not as they seem...
The characters are fantastic - Grace is very likeable and understandable, Jaxon is every YA fantasy reader's dream and we see other characters, like Flynn and her cousin who add nicely to the mix. We have a range of mythical creatures represented at the school, including one that's very unique! (I'll not spoil that)
I adored the three chapters at the end that conveyed pivotal scenes from Jaxon's POV - it was a welcome bonus!
A well-written and enjoyable book!

BOOK REVIEW: Crave by Tracy Wolff @tracywolffbooks

4 stars

I really enjoyed this book!!
It was pretty twilight like with the atmosphere and some of the characters. So if you didn't like twilight, you probably won't like Crave!
I really liked the characters and found the side characters played some important roles which was nice to see.
The writing was good although some of the dialogue was a little cringeworthy at times! However I didn't really mind!
I was hooked from the start. It was a VERY bingeworthy and addictive book. Since finishing it I have definitely CRAVED it....! See what I did there?? Oh dear. *shakes head*
Aaaanyway. I loved Jaxon. He was awesome and in my opinion I already prefer him to Edward Cullen. The magic and all the magical creatures was fantastic with some epic imagery too!
The plot wasn't as simple as I thought it would be and I'm super excited for the next book!!

I must say - the cover openly shows this is at least a bit inspired by Twilight and I was damn curious if that would be as bad, or if Crave had something new to offer. And I wasn't disappointed.
We have a cliche story of our main character - Grace finds herself in a situation where she has to move to Alaska, to her uncle's very remote boarding school, that's secretly a school for monsters. She of course meets *the* vampire and they fall in love.
The book, however, doesn't take itself too seriously, which makes it so fun to read - it's written from the point of view of Grace and her head is the exact mess any 17 year-old person's head is. She also has an attitude, and I loved that! When it comes to YA books, many times the MC is a selfless shell, empty enough for the reader to feel like they themselves are in the place of said character. In this case however, it feels more like Grace is telling you her story, no matter if you can relate 100% with her.
I also loved that the book was more action-packed and had less of the very weird and drawn-out YA style descriptions that feel like they were written in a use-your-thesaurus-for-every-second-word competition.
The cliches and tropes are there, but they had some twists and turns that just made them fit well.

Overall, I would say this was a very fun read, satisfyingly light and I'll definitely be on the look-out for the next book in the series. I do love to read a sappy vampire-romance once or twice a year.
