Princess Fuzzypants here: When Ben Kane sails into Willow’s marina and life, she is scrambling to hold on to her business. She is being wooed to sell by a rich developer at the same time his son is wooing her for real with offers of loans to bail her out. The marina has fallen into disrepair and there are some very strange and sinister things going on.

Ben is able to spiff up the place in exchange for dockage and supplies. What starts as a business deal turns personal in a lustful way, irritating the erstwhile suitor and his father. But when a series of tragic events makes it look like she is cursed, they discover why her cat has been yowling and growling and is now injured. There is something wicked loose in the marina and Willow is determined to return it to its owner.

Like the other Cat’s Paw books this one is filled with light but hot romance, trials and tribulations that will lead to the ultimate happy ending and a little bit of mystery. It is not heavy fare. It is light and easily consumed- perfect for those times your brain needs a break. No one is more surprised than me that I have become such a fan of this series.

Five purrs and two paws up.

This book has all the Good Stuff I love to read! It’s a Paranormal Romance with Fantasy, Magic, Mystery, and a Shapeshifter (or is it half-Shapeshifter?) thrown into the mix. Now I want to go find all the Cat’s Paw Cove books, and start from the beginning.

Another fun book in a great series. Willow owns the marina, and Ben comes to seek treasure and barter with her as a fix-it man in exchange for rental space for his boat. Enjoyed this one, and had a hard time putting it down. Trying to figure out what was causing the damages and keeping the poor cat busy was a mystery that kept me guessing. Highly recommend this book and author and series.

Good addition to the Cat's Paw Cove series. Willow is one of the few non-magical people in CPC. She is struggling to keep the marina going after one bad luck occurrence after another. A local developer wants to buy it from her, but Willow is reluctant to give up the land that has been in her family for generations. Things start to look up a bit when treasure hunters, looking for a suspected treasure site, arrive to use her marina as a base. Prospects are even brighter when a drifter ties up to her dock. He offers to exchange his handyman skills for food and gas.

Ben Kane has incredible handyman skills. He is also a talented treasure hunter, thanks to the selkie blood he inherited from his mother. The lure of the hunt drew him to the Cove, but it is Willow that keeps him there. He's drawn to the sexy, beautiful woman, but she also raises his protective instincts. He senses a dark presence at the marina and is determined to rid her of it.

I liked the development of the relationship between Ben and Willow. The sparks between them were obvious from the moment they met. Neither of them is looking for a relationship. Willow knows that Ben is a drifter and won't be around long, while she is tied to the marina. Ben is too footloose to settle down, plus he is hiding a big secret from Willow. He is a treasure hunter, and she doesn't like treasure hunters. I loved how Ben immediately jumped in to help with the repairs. Willow is a little bit wary but gives him a chance. They grow closer as they work together on the repairs. There are a couple of rough spots as Ben exhibits some intense jealousy. There's a terrific scene where Willow shares her favorite place with Ben, not realizing what a temptation it will become for him. Interference from a rejected boyfriend temporarily drives a wedge between them. Fortunately, both realize their mistakes once their anger cools. A dangerous confrontation with the dark presence wreaking havoc at the marina finishes the job of bringing them together. I loved the ending.

The paranormal presence at the marina created many problems for Willow. Being non-magical, she had no idea of its presence until Ben arrived and figured it out. There were some intense scenes as it worked its evil on her property. I loved the way that Ben and the cat worked together to figure it out. Once she was aware, I liked Willow's determination to capture the thing. Once she did, I loved how she knew where it came from. Her confrontation with the instigator was great.

This was a cute book. I didn't know this was the 17th book of the series until I started reading it.. And were there things that I obviously miss? Yes. But was it enjoyable on it's on? YES!

I actually enjoyed this one more than I enjoyed the first book in the series. Ben is a half selkie that can't transform, he's a treasure hunter! Willow is a human with no magic.. but she cursed. Duh Duh Duh. Doesn't that just sound like a fabulous story? It was!

I plan on going back to the beginning and reading book 2 because these books are short and super cute!

Thank you netgalley and publisher for a copy of this book.

So what’s a half selkie who can’t transform fully to do with his life? Well, become a treasure hunter of course! Ben Kane’s mother is a selkie, his dad’s a human. He can breathe underwater without equipment (but wears it so others aren’t suspicious) and can sense when treasure is nearby. His good luck charm is a piece of gold from the wreck of the Atocha that Mel Fisher gave to Ben’s mother when she helped him locate the wreck.
Now he’s heard about a treasure located in Cat’s Paw Cove that he wants to sink his teeth into. After speaking to a spirit who also directs him to the Cove, he hops about his boat and heads out to the protected area. If you haven’t read other books in the Cat’s Paw Cove series, I highly recommend, that way you can learn about the Cove and the residents.
Willow Vega is the manager of the marina and one of the few residents in town with no magical ability. Barely making ends meet, she can’t afford to keep the only staff person on the payroll. When a stranger shows up and offers to help get things right with the marina in return for being allowed to dock, Willow takes Ben up on his offer. He jumps right in and proves he has what it takes to help get the marina back in shape. The problem though is that Ben is hiding the fact that he’s a treasure hunter from Willow, even taking off his good luck charm and hiding it.
When weird things start happening at the marina, it’s up to Ben and Willow to band together and figure out exactly what’s going on and who’s controlling it before the marina is destroyed.
Ms. Haviland has done a wonderful job telling Ben and Willow’s story. It all fits perfectly in the Cat’s Paw Cove series, and I can’t wait to read more!! Wonderful writing, great characters, and an awesome story arc kept me reading into the wee hours of the morning with no regrets.
This series of books don’t have to be read in order, but they’re so good, I know you want to read them all, especially if you’re a fan of quick supernatural reads. Plus, the books are in Kindle Unlimited so you can read the entire series for free with your subscription.
**I received an ARC of this story from the publisher and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
