Thank you to netgalley and publisher for the arc of This book
5 stars (sorry its late had technical issues at time submitting my review)
Such a great read, compelling, twisty. Dark and addictive made me want more! Edge of seat page turner! Highly recommend loved it!
The Stolen sisters had me gripped throughout, it was hard to put down, I loved the twist and I would definitely recommend this book.
This was my first Louise Jensen read, so I didn't know what to expect. I really liked the split narrative style of this book, and the way Louise Jensen sets the scene.
The book was packed with both fear and humanity. Each character moves in shadows secrets, and guilt corrodes all that is pure. There's plenty of brokenness in this novel, as well as lots of love.
The sisters come to life through some masterly writing and I found it hard to put my kindle down - it's one of those 'just one more page,' sort of reads. Each character tells their story, with parts from the past and the present. The story, trauma and truth are slowly revealed as you progress. The lasting impact of adverse childhood experiences is expertly laid out, to the point it's impossible to read this book and not be completely immersed.
An absorbing, dark and emotional rollercoaster that will appeal to fans of psychological thrillers. Well worth a read, but expect it to stay with you.
This is such a great book
The writing style was engaging. I loved the short chapters.
The plot was interesting. The ending was a shock. I didn’t see it coming.
Another good read from the author. Great characters and premise. Looking forward to reading more from the author.
Oh, gather 'round, folks, 'cause we've got a gripping tale of kidnapping, escape, and a whole lot of "whoa" moments!
Meet Carly and her adorable twin sisters, Marie and Leah. They were snatched away when they were just kids, but miraculously, they broke free. Phew! But trust me, life ain't the same after a wild ride like that.
Now, fast forward - it's been almost 20 years since that fateful day. And we're bouncing back and forth between then and now, getting the full scoop on how these sisters survived that nightmare and what they're up to these days.
And let me tell ya, it's a rollercoaster of emotions. We get to see how each sister coped through the years, and man, there are secrets, lies, and jaw-droppers scattered all over the place!
It's a tense, sad, and sometimes heartbreaking story. You know, the kind that tugs at your heartstrings and makes you rethink what family really means. Like, sometimes blood ties aren't everything, you know?
The author cooked up an intense psychological thriller here, and it had me guessing like a squirrel trying to crack open a tough nut! Seriously, I couldn't put it down.
So, if you're into stories that'll keep you on the edge of your seat, this one's a winner. A great exploration of how life can change in the blink of an eye and how family dynamics can shift. Four stars from me for this riveting ride!
I was hooked from the start. Following 3 sisters in dual timelines, with multiple points of view, this book ticks every box for a good thriller.
We follow the sisters on the day they are kidnapped and throughout their ordeal and then also in the lead up to the 20th anniversary.
A small town rocked by the unthinkable and three women facing the fallout I could not put this down. The mystery was interesting and the twists were excellent.
I would highly recommend this book for thriller fans.
Kept me guessing until the end. I loved the split narrative style of this book, and especially the way Louise Jensen creates a world that pulses with both fear and humanity. Each character moves in shadows and secrets, and guilt corrodes all that is pure and lovely. There is a lot of brokenness in this novel, but also a lot of love. The sisters come to life through some masterly writing and I found it hard to leave the book... it's one of those 'just one more chapter' sort of reads.
My thanks to NetGalley and HQ for a copy of “ The Stolen Sisters “ for an honest review .
I’ve read and enjoyed Louise Jensen in the past and have always found her books to be involving and suspenseful. Her latest is no exception .I had my theories to what had happened ,but there were many twists and turns along the way.
A very decent psychological drama and I will definitely be recommending.
So much potential but unfortunately it was underwhelming for me as the pacing just felt all wrong, it just didn’t click well for me and I struggled to stay interested
A slow burn of a psychological thriller about three kidnapped sisters and told over two timelines. A good story but never really got going.
My first book, that I have read by this author, absolutely brilliant! Highly recommended, and I will definitely read others written by this author!
The Stolen Sisters tell us the gripping tale of 3 sisters who were abducted almost 20 years ago and the secrets that they have kept ever since.
Each of the sisters is struggling in her own way with the feelings of guilt and betrayal.
Told in a "then and now" format and from the point of view of the three sisters and the husband of the eldest sister, there are clues and red herrings all over the place all while building the suspense which kept me turning the pages long after my bed time.
On the whole, I enjoyed this book a lot. There were a few bits that I felt were a little far fetched and perhaps resolved a little too neatly but I would still highly recommend this book.
. A very good read with lots of twists.
This a was a great thriller! Gripping from the start, told from the perspective of each of the three Sinclair sisters alternately. Each chapter brought more questions and there were so many layers to the story, it was hard to put down.
No spoilers, but this is well worth a read, loved it.
This story follows three sisters who were kidnapped twenty years ago. All have been traumatised and affected by the ordeal, and tensions are running high as the anniversary approaches and they start receiving anonymous notes.
Each chapter alternates between the point of view of one of the sisters, and occasionally another main character. It also alternates between different timelines, then and now.
Once you get into the story it’s quite easy to follow this format as the sisters are so different.
It’s difficult to say much about the plot without giving anything away, but there are plenty twists and it keeps you guessing.
I didn’t particularly care for any of the characters, yet I still wanted to find out what was going to happen.
I thought that the idea for the story was a bit different to the norm, and I hadn’t guessed any of the twists.
It tries to deal with a lot of issues, and does so quite well, however doesn’t go too deep into any of them.
It’s quite an easy read and I liked it as I’m a fan of a psychological thriller.
3.5 stars rounded to 3.
Thanks to HQ Stories and NetGalley for a copy to review.
A really dark psychological thriller. Three sisters taken from their home. They come home to their family but the story starts with the sisters now as adults and the damage it has wreaked on each one. This has so many twists and a real wham of a dramatic finale.
Yet another #blogtour with the lovely team at @hqstories and another great title! I’m a sucker for books that have a different character’s take on each chapter as I really think it helps you delve further, and the additional flashbacks of ‘then’ and ‘now’ were great. So many twists and turns and wonderments about who is involved in what, kept me guessing to the end.
Personally, for me, this took a little while to get into. However, once we’d got going with it, I really enjoyed it.
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
Three sisters, bound not only by love, but by a horrific ordeal that will shape the rest of their lives.
I liked the jump back and forth between the narrative of the sisters ‘then and now’ and was intrigued by the lack of voice from Marie. Really cleverly written. I didn’t guess the twist either, which is always a marker for me. I really enjoyed the book and would read more by Louise Jensen.
Thank you to Netgalley and the author for the chance to read and review this book.
I’m struggling with how to write this review without accidentally including a spoiler! I enjoyed this book and have read it in only a couple of days. Lots of detail throughout and a few twists that were unexpected, and it’s always great when you don’t guess the ending - I always think that’s the sign of a good book. There are a couple of things I didn’t like, one being the way some chapters ended; a little line saying ‘What happened next was frightening’ for example, which I just found a bit patronising. I also wish a couple of things had ended differently but it didn’t mean how it did end wasn’t good.
