An emotional masterpiece told between two time lines, looking into the childhood of three sisters and how a shared traumatic experience follows them into adulthood, the author has portrayed the devastating effects of childhood trauma into adulthood shockingly well. Your really feel yourself rooting for the girls, I think I experienced every emotion possible.

This was a shocking, traumatic suspenseful read from a extremely talented author.

A psychological thriller which I found very hard to put down. Devoured in one sitting. Finally turning the last page at 2.30am. Yes this book is that good. I really thought I knew what to expect but I was so wrong. Theories blown out of the water, suspects dismissed. A real workout for the grey matter. Told from when the event happened to the present day. I also liked how each sister had a chapter. I have been sat on the edge of my seat, constantly holding my breath and tapping my kindle like a demented wood pecker. A masterpiece of a psychological thriller. Want more now PLEASE.
Thanks to HQ and Netgalley for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.

This is a well-written book, but I found it hard work to read, and couldn't really believe in the characters. The story is a good one, but this wasn't really for me I'm afraid.

This psychological thriller involves the horrific abduction of the Sinclair sisters, a thirteen year old and twins of eight. Initially thrust into the events surrounding the abduction and terrifying following days the reader then ricochets between present and past. Three adults unable to move on. Unable to forget. Surviving but prevented from living a full and happy life. The shadow of the past overwhelming for each sister in a unique and particular way. Frightening as the past and present is, for each Sinclair sister, nothing can prepare them for the unfolding reality of the truth of what actually happened, The subterfuge, the lies and final horror of the circumstances of their abduction lies in wait. A conclusion that can tie up loose ends but never make whole what is ultimately a family destroyed, childhoods lost, and damaged victims struggling to survive. Well researched, well written and compulsive reading. Many thanks to publisher, author and NetGalley for ARC.

When 13 year old Carly and her 8 year old twin sisters, Marie and Leah are kidnapped, they eventually escape but nothing will ever be the same again.
Fast forward and it’s leading up to the 20th anniversary of that fateful day.

The story is told from then and now. We learn how the sisters got through that awful time & how they are coping with life now, nearly 20 years on.

This is a great story and I found it really interesting to see how each sister has coped since. There are plenty of secrets and lies and some real shockers throughout.

This is a tense and quite sad story. We follow how 3 close sisters can change in the blink of an eye. Family suddenly isn’t all that matters. The author has written an intense psychological thriller that kept me guessing throughout.

My thanks to NetGalley and HQ for my copy in exchange for an honest review.

‘Three blind mice’

Amazing! I whizzed through this book in two sittings, I just couldn’t put it down. And what an ending!! I really really didn’t see that coming.

There were twists throughout, some shocking, some predicted. But every part and every detail were very much enjoyed!

The writing Itself was fab, so descriptive and clever. Louise is a very talented author and I will most definitely be seeking out more of her work.

I really liked each of the characters and it was interesting to see how each were affected by the abduction and their contributions to the story. Each played their part.

Thank you NetGalley and HQStories for the opportunity to read this fantastic book!

Tense, twisting and constantly surprising, this psychological thriller will appeal to readers who love books that keep them guessing. Switching between past and present and between the three sisters’ different accounts, this is the story of the abduction of three girls. On the anniversary of the abduction the family are still struggling with the psychological aftermath of events and there are still secrets to be revealed. I have no doubt this will be a very popular read with fans of psychological thrillers. I enjoyed the read, however I had a few reservations. Motivation in a thriller is a significant factor in reader satisfaction, but it’s impossible to discuss in detail in a review without revealing the plot. For me, the motivation in this novel was unconvincing. I’m sure that bookclubs will enjoy debating this. The book frequently uses foreshadowing as a device and I felt it was used too frequently and was on occasion unsubtle. Again, I suspect other readers will disagree and enjoy the way this device is used to build up tension. With thanks to Netgalley and HQ for a digital copy of this book.

Such a gripping read. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough towards the end. The Sinclair Sisters will stay with me for a long time.
I loved the way the story is told in two parts and how each chapter is told from each of the sisters perspective. Such an emotional story with extremely powerful messages. Can we ever really know and trust a person!

As 1 of 3 sisters, I was eager to read this book. The bond between Carly, Lean and Marie was a wonderful thing to experience and was the perfect foil to the horror in the book. The impact of their shared trauma is described in such detail there were times I felt my heart would break for these women. It was all so totally credible and credit must go to Ms Jensen for her writing that allowed me to feel their pain as if it were a tangible thing. As every secret is revealed, the depths of the horror sinks lower and lower. But yet again, it's credible. We've known people who have sunk to such depravity. Every time you think these girls can't suffer any more, something even more terrible from their past is revealed. The ending was entirely fitting and satisfactory. My only bug bear was so many of the chapters ending with, "You'll never guess what happened next" kind of thing. This book was so full of revelations that it didn't need these extra teasers; I was already reading as fast as I could! However, that aside, this was an emotional, heart breaking read that I definitely recommend.

When I read The Family by the lovely Louise Jensen last year, I was blown away. It made my top 10 books of 2019 list, and I honestly wondered how she was going to top it. But she has done it again.

The Stolen Sisters is a gripping and wonderfully-written psychological thriller that tells the heartbreaking tale of the Sinclair sisters, Carly, Marie and Leah, who were kidnapped twenty years ago. The mystery is not about how they escaped, because what happens after is so much worse.

We meet them as adults. Physically, they're doing fine. Mentally? That's a whole other story. With Carly's extreme trust issues, Leah's battle with contamination OCD and Fregoli disorder (I hadn't heard of it either - but it's fascinating), and Marie's struggles with addiction, they are definitely not coping with the trauma. As the twentieth anniversary of the kidnapping looms ever closer, a catastrophic chain of events unfolds and sends the reader rocketing towards a series of twists and turns that are as unpredictable as they are clever.

Told from multiple perspectives and two different timelines, you'll climb right inside the head of each sister and you'll be thinking about them long after you turn the last page. I absolutely adore Louise's style of writing... how she can write about such harrowing, terrifying things with prose that is drenched in beauty, constructed with such strong imagery.

Be warned: you'll fall victim to the 'just-one-more-chapter' trap. Louise is fantastic at foreshadowing, leaving you hanging on by a fingertip as she ends each chapter. She sends you hurtling down one road, only to whip the carpet from beneath your feet and leave your head spinning.

This dark and twisty masterpiece is unmissable.

This is an intriguing read, with characters weaving a web of lies and deceit.

The Novel starts off with the abduction of 3 young sisters, Carly and younger Sisters, twins Leah and Marie. It moves in chapters, between the past and the present, from the voice of each girl. The Author has blended the chapters really well.

I loved Carly's character. She seemed wise beyond her years. She was strong, on the whole, yet somehow vulnerable. She thought on her feet, and was very protective of her Sisters.

It was good how the Author showed the way in which each of the characters in the adult years, were dealing with the trauma they had suffered during the abduction. Each dealt in vastly different ways; three completely opposite characters, especially the twins, who were nothing alike.

There was so much mystery involved. Many questions needed answering. Who was the abductor? Why were they abducted? What was the source of the mystery notes? You literally don't find any of this out right until the end of the book, and all the theories I had were completely wrong! There is much more intrigue in the book, but I don't want to add any spoilers.

I had to keep reading and just couldn't put the book down. Its a very well written novel that makes you feel for the characters and keep you guessing.

Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for allowing me to review this.

The Stolen Sisters
Nearly 20 years ago the three Sinclair sisters were abducted and now the anniversary is fast approaching. It’s an event that they won’t be allowed to forget as it was the day that Carly, Leah and Marie’s lives changed forever.
Carly is the half-sister to the twins Leah and Marie and still blames herself for taking them all outside to find Bruno, the family dog. The kidnappers were waiting and they almost ran into their arms. Carly was aged 13 and the twins aged 8 at the time. However, the resourceful Carly manged to help them escape but the experience still haunts them and the local community.
The sisters manage as best they can with the notoriety and the increasingly unsubtle approaches from the media as the anniversary draws nearer. Carly lives alone, Marie is a sometime actress who is on the path to self-destruction, and Leah is married to George with one small child, Archie. When Marie suggests that they all go on TV to discuss their experiences it’s almost too tempting for the others to turn down. George’s architectural business is in trouble and Carly lives by selling charity shop finds on ebay. Leah suffers from OCD and other stress related problems and is too scared to have another child. None of them have ever felt safe again and now they’re ‘clinging to lives that don’t fit anymore.’
Someone else hasn’t forgotten the impending event as hand delivered letters emphasise a chilling countdown. 3 real blind mice are left on Leah’s doorstep which is what one of the kidnappers called them all. So when the now retired detective who was in charge of the case rings and tells Leah, ‘He’s out’, she knows that this time there may be no escape.
All roads will lead to the derelict army camp just outside town when they were all held captive. It’s always been another reminder. Vandalised, eerie, awaiting demolition, it looks ‘like a face with empty eye sockets and a mouth eternally screaming.’ This is the place where it all began and where it will end as finally all is revealed.
This is a tale of family secrets; of how a misguided decision leads to a lifetime of misery, an affair with a trusted confidante who has a familiar perfume and the burden of keeping them to herself is making one of them buckle under their weight. It’s also concerned with money and the lengths to which it can drive people. George and Leah going down their sofa looking for money, an empty fridge when once it was always full and the tantalising offers from the media.
The Stolen Sisters was a maze of a plot. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen next the author would adroitly pull the rug out from under me and another twist would send it in another direction. I read this book in one sitting as I couldn’t put it down. I thought that the aftermath of their sisters lives was well drawn especially Leah and her coping mechanisms and Marie’s secret struggle. We also see through George’s eyes his frustration at Leah and his desire to have another child. Will he finally decide on drastic action?
The novel is told in both flashback and the present day from the sisters and George’s perspective. Marie is the cheerleader, the performer who says ‘It’s wasn’t as bad as we thought was it?’ and It’s made us the people we are today.’ It’s obvious that Carly and Leah wish that it never happened and they would rather not be the people they are today. She’s also a drifter who neglects herself and Carly notices that ‘her lipstick has stained a patch of her nicotine yellow teeth crimson.’ I really sensed how close they were when they performed dance routines while in captivity and how they drifted apart afterwards. There are enough red herrings to keep the plot lively and it really kept me on my toes. Recommended.
My thanks to Harper Collins and Netgalley for an advance preview copy of this book.

I have never read any of this authors previous books before but I really liked the sound of this one. I’m glad I gave it a chance and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This book was a gripping thriller with lots of twists and turns. Once I started I couldn’t put it down and the end of each chapter left me wanting to carry on and read the next! I enjoyed this very much and look forward to reading more of the authors books in the future.

WOW! What can I say about this book other than how amazing a read it was. This is up there in my top 5 books of the year so far. I have never read anything by this author before but if this is anything to go by, I will be seeking out more from Louise for sure.

A psychological thriller of a ride written in "then" and "now" chapters, which made it even more of a page turner as a lot of chapters ended on a "what comes next" scenario which made me want to read on.

The story of 3 sisters being abducted from outside their home had twists and turns which I wasn't expecting at all. Each of the sisters had issues, which I think were dealt with really well.

I certainly didn't guess the plot and what an ending!

Thank you so much to netgalley, the publishers and author for an ARC. I am really happy to have discovered a new author.

Loved this book from the very beginning and right through to the very end. The tale flits between the past and the present so the story is slowly unravelled as you get to know the main characters who are most believable and likeable. Leads to a very surprising and unexpected end and had my heart racing on more than one occasion. Absolutely great book.

The Stolen Sisters by Louise Jensen is a fabulous compulsive contemporary psychological thriller that I just could not put down.
Louise Jensen lures the reader into the story from the start as we immediately feel sympathy for the characters. We begin asking questions as to what has happened to damage these young adults beyond repair.
The story is told from several alternating points of view. It is set ‘then’ and ‘now.’ Pieces of the puzzle are revealed bit by bit. There were times that were truly horrifying as my skin crawled while my heart broke for the three young sisters. I wanted to gather them up and wrap them in love.
There were moments when I literally gasped out loud. The action was definitely creepy at times as I had goose bumps.
Secrets are a terrible burden to bear. It seems like everyone is carrying a secret and with it, a burden of guilt. “Guilt is corrosive. It eats away from the inside out.” We need to find a way to release the pain and to live in freedom but freedom is not always what we imagine it to be.
What clearly shines out from the pages is the love and the unbreakable bond of the three sisters. It is a love that desires to fiercely protect.
Bodies broken by events, consumed by guilt and held together by love cannot move past the traumatic event. The past has far reaching fingers. “We still blame ourselves.”
The Stolen Sisters was a powerful novel. There were scenes that disturbed juxtaposed with a fierce love. Louise Jensen is a masterful author of the psychological thriller. I always love her books.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

I enjoyed the book alot. It was a slow burner, although I was interested from the start I didn't tear through it. That said, it was a great story, quite a unique twist on some common thriller tropes, which were done well and was refreshing to read. I enjoyed the perspectives of the different sisters, and there were twists I didn't see coming.
