Told from two separate time frames, ‘Stolen Sisters’ tells the story of the abduction of 3 young sisters and their struggles of dealing with the aftermath of the trauma they endured.
20 years on and the sisters are yet again faced with their abductor as he is released from prison. Is he the one sending the creepy notes on the lead up to the anniversary?

I won’t go into any more detail for fear of giving away spoilers but I would highly recommend this psychological thriller to anybody! Louise Jensen does a fantastic job at drawing the reader in and I found throughout that I was feeling more and more empathetic towards the characters (a true sign of a skilled author!)

I quite enjoyed this book. 20 years ago 3 young sisters were abducted. What happened to them has had a lasting effect on all their mental health. Told in 2 time frames from the viewpoint of different characters the story is revealed. It kept me guessing, but I must say that I didn't find the characters very sympathetic, and parts of the story were a little far fetched. Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.

Not for me. The trouble with the Stolen Sisters is that I found it too long winded before it got to the actual “good stuff”! I kept reading on, even though I found it tiresome BUT that said, when you do find out the truth, you’re suddenly interested and want to know more from that point. This ones going to split readers, some like me, won’t read it again but will appreciate the ending and others will like it from start to finish.

This was gripping from the start with the unbelievable kidnapping right outside the girls house to the introduction to how they live their lives today. The details of them being held hostage told through the eyes of thirteen year old Carly showed the bewilderment, bravery and obvious terror very well but it’s the effect it still has on them that is best depicted. The reason behind the kidnapping is spine chilling and the fear of the perpetrator is genuinely terrifying especially to Leah with her mental health issues. This is a cracking page turner which I flew through in a day.

This was an exciting, but at times harrowing, tale of the abduction of the Sinclair sisters, Carla aged 13 and twins Leah and Marie aged 8. It is twenty years since this trauma and the story details the effects on each of the girls throughout their lives.

The book is set in Parts and deals with the then and now, cleverly giving us an insight of how and why they were stolen from their family. Rather naively, I thought it would be fairly clear what the motive was but I was completely blindsided. It is an extremely clever tale and another hit from this author.

This is the first book I’ve read that Louise has written and I have to say it will not be the last.
This book about the 3sisters, their relationship not only to each other but their extended family and relationships and how the dealt with trauma was gripping and had me wanted to read more, I did not want this book to end. Several times I thought I’d figured things out but no, there was so many twists and turns and a few times made me gasp no or OMG. I never figured it and never once thought it would end the way it did, a great book, well written and definitely a must read.

A stunning and twisting encounter of three sisters & George one of the girls husband's One event changes them forever and never stops changing them despite the years.
Carly is the oldest of the 3 sisters Marie's 12 minutes older than her twin Leah and none of them had gotten over their Childhood kidnapping. Their story is of them in the now and the then (the kidnapping) and is spilt into two parts with some stunning twists to blow your mind or throw you of course if it doesn't. The characters are so believable not that anyone can fully imagine what it would be like but I felt this rang true to how it turned their lives inside out and upside down. Plus George Leah's husband well it takes a special person to deal with all her baggage but he knew that before they married so let you judge him for yourself.
I enjoyed this read as in it hooked me and kept me from start to finish, I know you've heard that before so why this one? Well Louise has a gift that you will see is shining bright with imagination twists gut wrenching twists that are similar to some actual events but absolutely not copied but shows the best in a few but the worse in others thats all closer to life than you'd like but fiction at its twisted best.
So yes five stars from me without a doubt let us know what you think!!!

Overall this was a good, well written book which held my interest most of the time, although in parts I felt it was a bit repetitive and I did lose interest. The characters were ok but I felt the whole story line was lacking something.

Thank you to Netgalley and HQ General Fiction for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

A thoroughly enjoyable psychological thriller with unexpected twists and turns. The story goes along in two timeframes and is brought together beautifully, although it was a sad ending - recommended

I feel awful leaving a negative review but this book just did not strike me at all. It was a really good concept but it just fell a bit flat for me. I felt it was quite repetitive throughout and I found Leahs issues quite annoying. There were some interesting plot twists and I started to get a bit more intrigued by part three but by then I was a bit worn out with it all. That being said it was well written, as Louises books always are this just wasn’t my favourite. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and HQ for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Leah, Marie and Carly were abducted as children. The Sinclair sisters, the stolen sisters. Although they survived the harrowing ordeal, they never fully recovered and as adults, the horror of that event still haunts them. Discovering why they were taken and who was responsible does nothing to quell their fear or help them come to terms with it. As the 20th anniversary approaches, the ghosts of their past come back to break them. This was a great story. Flipping between the time of their abduction and their present day, it's a tale that keeps you turning the pages. The characters are brought to life well and are very believable. The twists are unexpected and the secrets revealed are unexpected. Very well written. If you enjoy this, I can also recommend "The date" by the same author

Louise Jensen is one of my go to authors and this book certainly didn't disappoint. This one tells the story of 3 sisters who are kidnapped, Carly is 13 and her twin sisters Marie and Leah are 8. We know from the outset that the sisters escape as we meet them again when they are 20 years older. Each sister is trapped in her past and the repercussions of the kidnap have affected them in different but equally horrific ways. As the eldest, Carly has always blamed herself for not keeping her sisters safe. Each of the sisters have gone down destructive paths and life hasn't treated any of them kindly.
I love the way the story goes back and forward between past and present as we start to find out the motivations behind the kidnap and the repercussions that tear the family apart. There are some real shocks along the way and I felt there was a real sadness in the book.
I would recommend all of Louise Jensen's books, they really are a great read if you enjoy psychological thrillers and family dramas.

‘It’s so hard keeping secrets’, one of the characters in Louise Jensen’s latest novel, The Stolen Sisters, says, and the novel proves this statement is entirely true. At the heart of this fast-paced, gripping novel are three sisters, Carly and twins Leah and Marie, who were kidnapped as young children. There are two timeframes – one featuring the sisters as children and one as adults – and their struggles with addition, anxieties and obsessive-compulsive disorders are convincingly portrayed. Other characters are also very well drawn, such as Leah’s husband George who keeps secrets of his own. The suspense is ramped up when, in the run-up to the 20th anniversary of their kidnapping date – the sisters start receiving anonymous letters. At times there seemed almost too much going on in this novel, but Louise Jensen masterfully weaves all the various strands of the novel into a compelling plot. So gripping you will want to read on and on to find out what happens next!

Louise has done it again! Every book I read of Louise's just gets better and better. She is an amazing Author. Her books are action packed from the start and this is no different. My heart was in my mouth after the first couple of chapters. This is the story of 3 sisters who get abducted by someone they don't know. Their story of their time in captivity and then as adults looking back on that and how their lives are affected. Louise make you really feel huge empathy for the characters in her style of writing. There are a few massive surprises in this book I would never have guessed, but I'll leave that up to you to discover! You will not regret reading this book!

An absolutely brilliant book. I loved it. it's a very long book but is fascinating. Very well written. Another gem from one of the best authors out there.

The book begins at a fast pace. Carla is asked to look after her younger twin sisters Leah and Marie, but she has been expecting her boyfriend to contact her and becomes impatient with them. Bruno, the dog escapes through the gate and as the sisters search for him they are cruelly abducted.
Set in two time perspectives, when the abduction happened and present time, the story is told by several characters which gives a rounded account of what actually happened. As it is the 20th anniversary of the abduction, and one of the perpetrators has just been released from prison, tension and anxiety increase within the sisters, all suffering various mental health problems.
This is an expertly plotted, fast-paced story. Tension increases on reaching the end of each chapter which is dramatic and full of suspense. The harrowing, graphic descriptions of the squalor the sisters were forced to endure, leaps from the page.
Lots of unexpected twists and turns as the story unfolds makes this a compelling, gritty thriller which you can’t put down. Highly recommended.

There is nothing that gets me reading faster than an exciting thriller with chapters from different perspectives. In this novel, there are three in the first part - one from our main protagonist Leah set in the present, another from her husband which is also in the present and then finally a third from her older sister, Carly, which is set when the girls were kidnapped. These change slightly in part two, but I'll let you discover those for yourself so as not to give anything away.

I was completely hooked from the minute I started reading and as a lot of the chapters ended on an exciting note I just had to keep going to find out what happened and what was coming next. The chapter endings did feel rushed but I don't feel it took away from the overall enjoyment of the book.

I also thought that the author dealt with Leah's OCD extremely well and you could tell a lot of effort had gone in to the research behind it.

If you enjoyed Behind Closed Doors by BA Paris, you will also love The Stolen Sisters.
