This is a highly memorable psychological thriller.

When aged 8, twins Leah and Marie, along with teenage step sibling Carly are ‘stolen’ from their home and held captive. Fast forward 20 years and the girls are all struggling to cope with the anniversary of their abduction.

Leah and Carly receive creepy notes counting down to the anniversary, but who is sending them and why? Leah keeps seeing a mysterious man who clearly terrifies her, but is he stalking her, or a figment of her imagination? Her fears escalate when she discovers he has just been released from prison. She has good reason to believe he bears a grudge against her but with a history of mental illness will anyone believe he poses a threat to her...?

You certainly get bang for your buck with this well crafted novel, as with 2 distinct but related timelines, the reader is treated to 2 epic tales in one!

Author, Louise Jensen, proves once again that she is a master of her trade with character development that is totally on point. Just enough detail is given at appropriate junctures in the story to make some fairly complex characters relatable, likeable and utterly fascinating! This is what really made the novel work for me and kept my attention until the end (no mean feat!)

My thanks to Louise Jensen for entertaining with her spectacular storytelling abilities and additional thanks to publisher and Netgalley for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

OMG I love Louise Jensen books, but this has by far surpassed them all, and in fact many psychological thrillers I have read. The book is about 3 sisters abducted, and works across two time lines - when they were younger and the abduction, and then when they are older and the effects of the abduction on each sister. Dealing with issues of OCD, Substance abuse, inabilities to trust and have relationships, or even wanting children. But then you have all the twists and turns throughout. Really had me on the edge of my seat throughout, and a real page turner. I was kept guessing, and got it wrong each time I thought I knew what was happening. Just amazing, and words can't even express how much I enjoyed this book. This is going to be a hard book to beat with the authors next book for sure!

3 sisters kidnapped when they were children, and now as the 20th anniversary of this awful abduction approaches, we get to read what happened then and the after affects on all of them now.

The story is told through the eyes of the 3 sisters Carly, Leah and Marie, as well as Leah’s husband George.

The author breathes life into all her characters and my heart was racing as the sisters relived their kidnapping and felt their pain and betrayal as they discovered some shocking secrets from those they thought they could trust.

Twist after twist, I didn’t see the big one coming! Thank you NetGalley and HQ for an advanced copy of this great page turner!

So the story starts 20 years ago when 3 young sisters were taken by some masked men. As the anniversary of the trauma approaches we delve into the twists and lives of the three girls
Follow the new psychological novel by Louise Jenson as she leads the reader through this thrilling and emotional read.
Excellent.

Its twenty years since Carly and her step twin sisters Leah and Marie were kidnapped. The trauma has left scars which have not healed. Leah has contamination OCD, Marie has a drink problem and Carly suffers from guilt that this happened to her younger sisters while they were in her care.
Even though The Stolen Sisters is about the consequences of the abduction rather than the whys and wherefores of it, the reasons for it are dangled in front of the reader for most of the book and eventually revealed. By this stage I am afraid this reader was worn out. This thriller is well written, meticulously plotted with the exception perhaps of the motive provided for whether Leah had Fregoli Syndrome or not. Leah’s husband George is a shadowy and wonky character too.
Why did I not really enjoy it (and I seem to be on my own in that), well, I’m not sure. It had a bit of an excitable YA feel to it, but it was also a veritable page turner.

Many many people have and will enjoy this book.
With thanks to Netgalley and HQ

I am sorry but this was not a book for me. The story revolves around 3 sisters who had suffered a terrible experience but 20 years later none of the three were able to get on with their lives.
They seem to encourage each other in their anxiety and see their own situation as impossible to overcome.
The events seem highly improbable and I found the style of using a “cliff hanger” at the end of every short chapter overdone, especially as the secret was not revealed until near the end although the references began early in the story.
I was disappointed.

Review for the Stolen Sisters by Louise Jensen

From the off this book had me gripped. The story was paced perfectly and the number of twists and turns was amazing. Right to the end I didn’t know which way the story would go. I have never read a Louise Jensen book before but shall now seek her out. This book must be made into a film, it’s totally absorbing, so much so that I read it in two sittings. The three sisters were totally believable and I felt that they mattered to me, such good writing. I can’t praise it highly enough, an excellent read.

Almost twenty years ago three young sisters are taken by two masked men.
Now there it is only a few days before the 20th anniversary of their abduction and all three sisters are finding life hard and have been left with problems because of their traumatic experience.
The story is told in a Now and Then format by each of the sisters.
It has some twists and turns and some scary moments.
Thank you to NetGalley HQ and for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

Wow,wow, wow. I have had to finish this today as I just couldn't put it down.
Where to start?
3 sisters kidnapped by who and why? We know they got away but the story really only begins with the fallout after they escape.
Going backwards and forwards telling their story as children and as adults you'd think being kidnapped would be the most shocking thing to happen but as adults coping as each anniversary comes round each sibling has their own demons and secrets.
Leah has OCD her twin Marie turns to drink and their half sister Carly who has trust issues.
There are so many twists and turns I really couldn't guess what was coming next.
This is definitely my favourite read of the year.
Thanks to Netgalley, Louise and the publishers for an ARC in return for an honest opinion

This is the gripping story of the three Sinclair Sisters that will have you hooked from the get go! It is the story about the day that the sisters are abducted and subjected to a terrifying ordeal until they are later found and freed.
The story is told from each sister’s perspective and on a dual time line. The author deftly details the devastating effects the abduction has had on each of the girls mental health as they grow up, until it reaches the shocking climax on the 20th anniversary of their abduction.
The book’s short chapters keep you turning the pages and the plot takes the reader on multiple twists and turns which never take you quite where you think they will take you.
Louise Jensen has done it again!! This is a great read that I have no hesitation in recommending.
Thanks to NetGalley and publishers HQ for this ARC.

The Stolen Sisters by Louise Jensen was an absolute cracker read. I intended to read this slowly during my grandson’s nap times! That definitely didn’t happen. Once I got going I was engrossed in the story. Carly was a wee hero and yet so believable as a boy-fixated, cool teenager. As the girls’ try to build their lives they each demonstrate, and articulate, the ongoing impact of their traumatic experience. Louise certainly managed to take me down a few wrong tracks and the unfolding of the truth was quite shocking and very sad. I absolutely loved this book. The contrast between the two mums- the girls’ mum and Leah, is striking. So much hurt and fear in the aftermath of a relatively short ordeal is very sobering. Tragedy with a little bit of hope. Just what we need to believe in Five stars for keeping me glued!

“ The Stolen Sisters “ is a great thriller, full of twists that keep you turning the pages. The three Sinclair sisters, Carly 13 and 8 year old twins Lean and Marie, were kidnapped and the book starts just before the 20th anniversary of the abduction. As the story unfolds the characters all draw you into their troubled lives and the reader finds out what happened and eventually why. The narrative switches between the past and present through the perspective of each of the girls, who were all altered dramatically by the secrets of the past.
It is a well written and thought out book, the first I have read by Louise Jensen. I enjoyed it so much I have included her past novels in my “ wish “ list.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy in return for my review.

To begin, I’d like to thank HQ for inviting me to read an ARC of this book, and to NetGalley for facilitating. And a HUGE thank you to Louise Jensen for writing this!

As always there will be no spoilers in this review.

So... it turns out I’ve actually read one of Louise Jensens previous books. Her debut to be exact. I discovered this after devouring this book and looking up the author (I always do this afterwards so I go into the books blind). I didn’t really like her debut - I’d given it 3 stars... and didn’t read any of her other books because I didn’t enjoy the first. But I received an email about this one and it sounded interesting so without realising I’d read anything by Louise Jensen before I requested this book. And wow am I glad I did. The main reason I was googling Louise afterwards was to read more of her work. So now I intend to read everything between the first 3 star book and this (waaaay more than) 5 star book.

The characters - they were so well written I felt like I knew them. I cared about every single one of them and was emotionally invested in their outcomes from the beginning.

The book is written from multiple characters viewpoints and also time hops between “then” and “now”. This creates an amazing feeling of suspense and wanting more because you want to hear from Carly “then” and Marie “now”. And every chapter it seems left unanswered questions.

The ending of the book was so satisfying. The middle of the book was thrilling and the beginning was instantly gripping. There is not a single thing I would have changed about this book. It was perfect.

Since the first Jensen book I read I have now read an awful lot of thrillers and is probably more of my “specialty” than historical fiction now and this is right up there in my best reads. It had every ingredient you could want in a thriller all perfectly balanced to create this gourmet treat.

If I could give this 6 stars I would - I devoured it, I couldn’t put it down, I didn’t WANT to put it down and now I’m off to buy all of her other books to try to recapture that feeling.

Perfect read Louise Jensen - bravo and thank you, thank you, thank you (3 times)!

A story of two twins and one older sister who were abducted twenty years ago by two men and hauled into a van. The story reads from different perspectives, then and now and from each sisters point of view.

Leah is married to George with a young son called Archie. She has struggled with OCD and germs.

Marie turns to drink to help her forget and Carly blames herself for what happened all those years ago.

The trauma has affected them all in different ways.

Leah starts to receive letters at her door a few days before the 20 year anniversary counting down the days. Who is sending the letters?

REVIEW;

Nicola and I are huge fans of Louise Jensen's books. As soon as we saw The stolen sisters available to request on netgalley, we knew we had to download it and do another buddy read!

I enjoyed the book and loved reading about each sister and how the traumatic event has affected them. However, at times I did get confused who was who and which sisters were the twins. Towards the end of the book, it came together.

The book is a quick and easy read with short chapters. Overall, I enjoyed the book and would recommend it. Publish date in October 2020!

Great book. I love this author anyway. The story moves along well, quite a few twists and turns along the way and a good ending.

I never repeat the blurb. I tried. I really did but just couldn't get into this. Disjointed and without any likeable characters, it wasn't for me. Sorry.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book.

A great read with lots of twists and turns. I really felt for the sisters as they’d all been through so much and their experiences were so well written

Loved this book. They don’t come around often books like these where you’re gripped from the start. I was hooked and completely immersed in the lives of the characters, rooting for them. I was very emotionally involved in their lives too and shed a few tears throughout the book. I loved the exploration of relationships and what they meant to each character. What I liked most of all was that the book left me satisfied where so many others leave some loose threads these were all wrapped up well by the end.
