There is no doubt in my mind when I pick up the latest book by Louise Jensen, that I'm in for a real treat.

And The Stolen Sisters was no different.

A thrill-fest from start to finish.

I hate to say it as I feel as though I'm 'cheating' on Grace and Charlie (The Sister), but I think this might be my favourite book so far.

It isn't hard to understand why Jensen's books are so popular: her ability to weave a web of deceit and intrigue is unmatched. The way she masterfully takes us from past to present and back again, without missing a beat or taking the reader out of the story is stunning.

I know it isn't an effortless process to write a book. Hours and hours of research, writing, editing, and proofing and that's just to get the first draft done. But my god, the finished product Jensen puts out at such a consistently high standard is amazing. I've said it before and no doubt will say it again, if she could bottle and sell her talent, she'd be a gazillionaire!

One of the main things that's stuck with me from this book is the relationship between the sisters; seeing how the dynamics change and move over the years, and how the emotions and feelings and responsibilities between them develop. I don't have sisters, but Jensen's insight into such a special type of relationship made me understand that bond on a deeper level than I ever imagined I could.

The Stolen Sisters is another stunning sleep stealer from Jensen and I urge you all to go and buy it now!

This is a gripping psychological thriller with the twists and turns I've come to expect from Louise Jensen. The dual timeline and story from the sisters different view points added to the complexity of the story and enabled me to fully understand and feel all of the emotions. The twist at the end, although unexpected made sense.

I’m such a huge fan of Louise Jensens books! So I’m thrilled to report back that this is probably my favourite book of hers so far! And definitely one of my favourite reads of 2020 so far as well! Louise manages to wrench such an emotional response from her readers with her psychological thrillers that it’s always a rollercoaster ride when you have one of her books in your hands. Be prepared to be thrilled, shocked and utterly heartbroken by this tale of 3 sisters and how one event sends the rest of their lives spiralling into insecurity and guilt…

Carly is 13 and twins Leah and Marie are 8 when they are abducted from outside their home by two unknown men. Taken to a secluded place, they are held against their will in a tatty room with only a few supply’s of sweets, crisps and fizzy drinks to keep them going. Twenty years on, after their ordeal came to a shocking end, the sisters are still suffering mentally and physically because of what happened to them. Leah can’t function in her marriage, Marie drinks and Carly has never got over the guilt from the day they were taken. But the truth might not be what the women believe to be true and as the plot gallops towards the shocking facts about their abduction, will they be able to cope?

Louise Jensen is very clever at building her suspense whilst withholding a few shocking twists to make your jaw drop! And she’s not afraid to take her storylines to create some very uncomfortable moments for her readers as these 3 damaged women try to make their lives work. I loved the relationships between the sisters as they tried to move on but everything always came back to the events of their abduction. I found it heartbreaking but also incredibly realistic as it seemed to reflect real life experiences of those who have suffered a similar fate.

I loved this book so much! It was a tough read at times, crimes involving children can be difficult to read about, but Louise Jensen pulled it off with her sensitive approach whilst also sending shivers of fear done my spine. Cleverly crafted characters and a gripping plot make this a book I can highly recommend to fans of psychological suspense. Loved it! Loved it! LOVED IT!

My thanks to HQ for an eARC via NetGalley of ‘The Stolen Sisters’ by Louise Jensen in exchange for an honest review.

Twenty years ago the three Sinclair Sisters were taken. Yet what happened after their return was far worse. The oldest, Carly, has never forgiven herself for not keeping twins, Leah and Marie, safe that day. Leah’s marriage is shaky and she struggles with mental health issues. Likewise, Marie drinks too much. As the anniversary approaches with attendant press interest, the sisters begin to receive mysterious messages.

The narrative shifts between the present and the past and flips between various points of view: the three sisters and George, Leah’s husband. These shifts were clearly indicated in the chapter headings and I didn’t find it difficult to keep up.

The chapters are short and punchy, as Louise demonstrates her skill in increasing the sense of threat and tension with a series of mini cliffhangers. I was on the edge of my seat flipping page after page. There were, of course, red herrings along with some great twists.

Throughout Louise Jenson explored issues around the bonds of sisterhood and the long term effects of trauma. It’s not always an easy read given the subject matter though I felt engaged from start to finish.

She rounds off the novel with suggested questions for reading groups and I feel that it is the kind of novel that will appeal to groups that want a psychological thriller that also offers topics for discussion.

Shocking, heartbreaking, betrayal and hope all balled into one. Jensen has once again taken my breath away, a story about three sisters who needed each other and would do anything to protect themselves against an evil I just wasn’t prepared for.
Each sister has their own troubles that stemmed from their kidnapping, one untrusting of everyone, one turned to drink/drugs and the third scared of everything. All holding onto a guilt thinking they were all to blame.
Filled with twists I couldn’t predict the outcome of any part - the truth brought tears to my eyes. I sympathised with all involved (apart from ‘him’), a truly terrifying situation that should never have been.

What a rollercoaster! There are so many twists and turns in this story, every breath brings a new surprise. It is fast paced and gripping with multiple narrators over time. It's the story of three young sisters abducted from their garden, held captive and the aftermath of their escape. Every time I thought I knew what was happening or why, another piece of the jigsaw changed orientation. The impact of the trauma on the young girls - on their mental health, their relationships and throughout their adult live is explored sensitively and with understanding. The final denouement is shocking.

Absolutely fantastic!!
I have just finished racing through what I would say is Louise Jensen’s best book yet!
I need to stop and breathe! From the very first page you are thrown into the world of the 3 sisters who were abducted as children. However, I liked that the story alternated between then and now, you know from the start that they are now adults and so physically survived their ordeal, but the repercussions of the event have completely changed and shaped all their lives into adulthood.
The book moves at an excellent pace and although I did guess one particular aspect, it was not anywhere near the end of the story when that was revealed, it was only one of many twists and turns that continued to be hurled from the pages to knock you off your feet and take your breath away.
This is a brilliantly crafted psychological thriller, it kept me on the edge of my seat to the last page.
I felt really invested in the lives of the characters, they felt so real.
Storyline, plot, pace, characters, twists and turns - everything has aligned perfectly within the pages of this book. It’s one that I will remember and recommend for quite a while.
I rated this a strong 5 ⭐️ and highly recommend you add this to your reading list and grab a copy as soon as you can!

If you’ve been here before, you know I am a huge fan of Louise Jensen. If you’re new, well, be aware I am a huge fan of Louise Jensen!
Why do I mention it?
Because I tend to be even more critical of the work of those who have given me the best reading experiences. So when I picked up The Stolen Sisters, the expectations were sky-high and my hopes bigger than life.
Did the novel deliver? Let’s see.

Three sisters. Multiple point of views. Two timelines.
Mixing all of these seems complicated, don’t you think?
Not for Louise Jensen.

Oh My Goodness. The Stolen Sisters has become my second favorite book by Louise, really close to her debut, The Sister. Ha, I spot a link here ;)

What to say?

Twins and an older sister, scarred by a terrible event that happened in their childhood and has impacted their lives so much that one has OCD and is prone to panic attacks, one is an addict, and the last is afraid to let anyone get close to her.

Only a master in characterization can create three unique voices and bind them with love to build a web of emotions that reach your heart and soul.
Carly, Marie, Leah. I will not forget those names. Together but alone. Them against the world. Them against the past. Them against themselves?

I usually steer clear of giving away much of the plot and hate re-hashing what’s in the blurb, but I will be even more vague here because I believe you can only get the full impact of this extraordinary psychological thriller by going blind.

If you don’t know Louise Jensen, I must warn you that her writing is a drug, a delicious poison that seeps into your veins until you become one with the ink of the story. Every scene is vivid, whether it is a simple routine moment or a crucial minute. You FEEL the action, or lack of. You FEEL for the characters, but also WITH them. Louise’s books read like watching a movie, with a direct access to the emotions. I don’t get this experience with anyone else.

I reached the end of the novel feeling bereft, grieving, yet happy. The Stolen Sisters is haunting. The story is not another abduction tale, it’s a real and exquisite account of lies, secrets, guilt, and love. This novel has the power to make you doubt what you read, see, and feel. It’s evocative, it crackles with tension, it gives the truth a bittersweet taste.

Three sisters, a terrible kidnapping. It looks straight. It is far from it! So far you can’t see the horizon! I was obsessed with the account of what happened to Leah, Marie, and Carly when they were little. I was fascinated by the bound their shared, and particularly curious about a set of twins and an older sister. How does it work? We know the special connection between twins, so how would Carly fit in there? I am an only child, and I always thought I was happy with it, but Louise made me long for sisters. Me?! That says a lot!

The past timeline is engaging, but the author doesn’t neglect the present. A threat hangs in the air. It’s the anniversary of their kidnapping, and the sisters are high on tension. Someone is haunting them, and memories are keeping them in a toxic fog that prevents them from living. Can they escape their past and get rid of their burden? What’s the price of freedom?

Dear friends, I only have one thing to say: buy this book. Put the phone down, lock yourself in your room, grab your blanket and a mug of tea. Take your time and enjoy this magnificent dive into the world of thrillers.

The Stolen Sisters by Louise Jensen is a psychological thriller from, in my opinion a fantastic storyteller. I am lucky enough to be allowed to take part in the tour alongside other great bloggers and I am so grateful.I was looking forward to this book and it did not disappoint at all!
Three sisters, Carly, Marie and Leah Sinclair were snatched from outside their house twenty years previously. They were kept in a dark and ramshackle room locked up by two men.Luckily (extremely) they managed to escape but the hell they experienced in that room, captive, never left them. Carly, the eldest, will never give herself a break over not protecting her younger twin siblings. She stays alone and allows no-one in. Leahs marriage is under serious threat due to her odd behaviour and Marie is drinking herself to death. As always there are secrets being kept but the question is, how long will they stay secrets?
The Stolen Sisters is told from the past, as the girls are kidnapped as children then moves to present day. There we are witness to the long term effects the event had on every one of them. Leahs anxiety and fear grow as the day they were taken starts to loom and we see her go downhill. The way Leah is reacting causes her quality of life to be nothing, I really felt for Leah, the trauma she experienced impacted her so much I could have cried at this point. Carly, I had my heart ripped out for. The past is mainly told by her point of view and, Oh! She was broken by the fact she took on the maternal role while they were kidnapped and she cannot get over the fact she could not protect them enough. In fact my heart was ripped out, then stamped on. I can definitely empathise with her as I truly feel the same in my family life.
This is a story that you think you can tell whefe it will go, but thats the beauty of a skilful writer. They veer off down what could be seen as a blind alley and there is no turning back! Louise Jensen manages to create a dark and very twisted story that kept me glued to the book and turning the pages as fast as I could! A belter of a book!

With thanks to Netgalley, Pigeonhole and the publishers for the arc, which I have enjoyed reading.
The Stolen Sisters by Louise Jensen is an intense psychological thriller, based on the three sisters being kidnapped and how their lives were affected by that traumatic incident. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and couldn’t put it down and read it in one day. I believe this could be Louise Jensen’s best book so far.
Highly recommended.

I have lots of recently published psychological thrillers on my bookshelves. Lots. Few, if any, compare favourably with The Stolen Sisters.
Louise Jensen's story of three abducted sisters is chillingly believable. She takes us to the darkest corners of the human psyche. It is unpredictable, innovative, and genuinely shocking.
This is a darkly impressive novel with the ability to give you nightmares if you are daft enough to try sleeping just after you have read it.

I’m a huge fan of Louise Jensen’s writing so a new book from her is always exciting. I was so thrilled to get my hands on her new novel The Stolen Sisters and am really happy to say that it more than lived up to my very high hopes for it.

The novel starts twenty years ago with three sisters who are taken right outside their own home. It follows older sister Carly in the past, and one of the twins Leah in the present in alternating chapters. Gradually we learn what happened when they were taken and how they are all still affected by it in the present day.

I loved the back and forth in time but wondered how suspenseful a novel could be when we already know the girls all survived. Louise Jensen is a master of this kind of novel though and there is so much tension and so much to still be revealed.

I have to praise Louise for her sensitive and accurate portrayal of OCD through this novel. I suffer from this too and it manifests in similar ways to the character in the book so I really appreciated the way it was written about. I was rooting for all three of the sisters to find a way to move on from what happened to them, but especially for Leah to overcome her OCD.

I found this novel so compelling and gripping, it was a book that I found hard to put down and given the reading slump I keep finding myself in it was going to take an excellent book to hold my attention and this is that book! I highly recommend this one!

The Sinclairs are three sisters and they each have their own personal problems as a result of what happened them twenty years ago. This story is divided into now and then with each sister telling their own side of the story in each chapter.

Oh my word I cannot even begin to say how much I loved this book. It’s a deep and dark psychological thriller. At times I nearly couldn’t breathe with all the suspense and tension in this book. From the start this book had me gripped and the fast pace of this book meant I didn’t want to put it down.

Three little girls missing. One family torn apart…

Twenty years ago the Sinclair sisters, or 'The Stolen Sisters' as they are now famously known, Carly, 13 and her 8 year old twin sisters, Leah and Marie, were abducted. What happened to them on that fateful day, and during the days that they were held captive, had an immeasurable effect on their future wellbeing, Marie blocks it out with drug and alcohol abuse, Leah suffers terribly with OCD and other issues which are threatening to destroy her marriage to George, and Carly has never forgiven herself for not keeping them safe whilst she was looking after them, but now the twenty year anniversary is looming and the revelations that are about to be exposed threaten to blow this family apart all over again, will they ever recover from their ordeal and live normal lives again?

This story switches between the two timelines and is told from the perspectives of all the sisters, with little snippets from George along the way. I felt great sympathy for all the sisters at one time or another and couldn't begin to imagine the hell they went through and were still experiencing all these years later. If you've read any of this author's work before you will know that she loves to hit you with a sucker punch of a twist in every book, and she doesn't disappoint again this time. The plot is so well constructed, the characters so authentic and mostly likeable, even with their flaws, making this a truly exceptional read and Jensen's best psychological thriller to date. If you love a read that's tense, intriguing and keeps you guessing till the end, then this one is for you. I loved it and can't wait for book seven!

I'd like to thank HQ and Netgalley for the approval. I will post my review on Goodreads now and Amazon on publication day.

This was an enjoyable & intriguing, twisty read. The story is told from a variety of viewpoints, mainly the sisters,
Carly, Marie & Leah, as well as alternating between time - then and now. This sets the nerves at rest a little as it is the harrowing story of the kidnap of these three sisters, Carly the older sister & Marie & Leah, the twins, and the impact it has on all their lives.

It took me a while to embed the different personalities/ traits of the girls but all became clearer as the story unfolded. From here the characters developed well making them distinct from each other. There were definitely characters to despise as well as some to draw your empathy.

The settings were well described and visually very clear to me - I was there with them.

The reader quickly finds out that the sisters are all suffering from their experiences, but in a variety of forms. The experience constantly nudging them, threatening to destroy any futures they may have.

It became clear that fear destroys lives in many different ways and it was comforting to glimpse some inner strength coming forward when it was least expected. I don’t want to give any spoilers away but I will say the plot had me intrigued and the secrets gradually spilled out with a variety of consequences and a fair share of blind alleys.

This was a well written, easy to read book. The second half gathered pace and held me reading solidly for several hours.
I was cleverly led up blind alleys, and suspecting people left right and centre.

Another five star winner from Ms Jensen, full of twists and turns and guilty secrets. I was relieved to know from the start that the sisters were physically unharmed and felt that their mental health issues were dealt with thoughtfully and with sympathy
Thank you to netgalley and HQ for an advance copy of this book.

This is a great family drama with a chilling undertone.
Carly, Leah and Marie are sisters who were all abducted when they were younger.
Now they are adults they’re all dealing with the past in different ways.
It’s coming up to the twenty year anniversary of their abduction and things are happening around them that’s causing Leah to become very anxious.
Marie has disappeared and Leah is trying to find her but there’s no sign of her.
The story comes to a nail biting conclusion and the truth about the past finally comes out.
This is a gripping read that I really enjoyed.
Thanks to HQ and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
