This was a fairly lighthearted, fun romance. It deals with the loss of spouses a bit, but in a hopeful kind of way. The heroine makes her life over in the span of 6 weeks, so some elements felt a bit rushed, and the social media aspects felt a little too good to be true. but overall, it was a nice story of a loving family and an enemies-to-lovers romance. Although the characters like to make jokes with innuendoes, the actual sex scenes are pretty minimal.

I absolutely adored Katharine and her witty personality! The romance was everything I hoped for and the plot/story was absolutely great.
A very enjoyable, quick romcom!

This was a light and engaging read that lifted my spirits this pandemic. It is a bit slow to get moving and there are a bunch of subplots to follow, but overall, I enjoyed watching (reading?) Kit and Katie's journey to happily ever after.

An absolutely brilliant flirty rom com! The concept is a very well known one - girls packs up and leaves to start all over again.. in that respect it was very predictable, but it was such a light hearted book with such lovable characters you can't help but love it! Will 100% be recommending this book to everyone!

Though the book was an entertaining read, I was disappointed with the plot. The conflicts between the main characters seemed very forced and just seemed to make both of them seem to have very weak character. If there had been more justification for the conflicts, perhaps a little more depth to the characters, it would have been a much more satisfying read.

In the space of a week, Katharine Patterson has quit her job, decided to move back home, and broken up with the guy she thought was the one. She’s going to open her own art gallery. Then she meets Kit, a talented local artist...

I didn't enjoy this book as I thought I would. I felt the pacing was a little off, meaning it's too slow for my liking. I felt like I was just waiting and waiting for it to get interesting and it did, but when the book was almost over. Also, the cover is really cute!

It's a 2 stars rating for me because the story itself is nice, there are too many sub stories that the romantic one is not the main one.

If you like a slow-paced, hate-to-love romance, definitely give it a read!

This is a slowwww burn romance for sure. But then, it's also weirdly fast in terms of the actual romance.

Our female protagonist is incredibly career focused and the majority of the book centers around her decision to open up her own art gallery. She struggles to find artists that are suitable for a variety of reasons and is also dealing with family drama, romantic drama, and friendship drama. A lot happens, but it just felt so slow to me. Maybe I've just been reading really fast paced romance books, but she literally had one conversation with the male protagonist at the 60% mark. I felt like I was just waiting and waiting for it to get interesting.

That being said, once it got interesting - I was hooked. At that point, I was attached to the characters and I really just wanted the best for them. I would suggest picking this one up if you love a good slow burn. Not too much steam, but a fair amount of drama.

I enjoyed this story from the first chapter. The interaction between characters and banter is amazing and the whole chic lit, romance vibe was really good.

If you like a good, fresh, casual, beautiful romance, this is the book for you.

Review

Accidentally in Love by Belinda Missen is one of the most anticipated books of 2020 and it did not disappoint us.

Accidentally in Love is a story of an independent woman, Katherine Patterson whose life might’ve got insanely messier in over a span of one week. How she gets her life back together and how she accidentally fell in love with a guy whom she would not have imagined she would fall for. That’s pretty much the story-line of this really engaging novel.

The way the story commenced and how it moved forward was one of the best things about this book. The characterization of Katherine’s character was completely unbelievable because before the readers could even realize they will be deep in love with her. Her character was so relatable and lively, stepping into her shoes and reading her story from her perspective will be the most easiest thing the world for the readers.

The relationship Kate shared with her brother, Adam was something really heart-warming and adorable. Whenever they both meet, it will be really nice to read. And also Kate’s relationship with her father and her step-mom was deep. So this book also elaborately spoke about how supportive families can be when you are at your lowest. This book gave a reassurance that however messed up you can be, you can always return to home without being judged and that is why is called HOME. This book strongly conveyed that weirdly in a most subtle and casual way, that’s one of the greatest things about Belinda’s writing style.

Now about kate’s love life, her entire relationship with John had a vibe and the author’s writing gave the readers a perfect feel that John was the one for Kate but then how it turns out was quite disastrous. Later Christopher aka Kit came into the picture, the most rudest man in the world, his character was not charming or lovable. He had this rude attitude which will make anybody drift a thousand miles away from him. And then the author brought about a twist which will make the readers fall accidentally in love with kit just like Kate. Which seems perfectly impossible when the book started but the author was extremely convincing and persuasive, that her writing literally made the readers believe and feel everything she wanted them to feel and it is a sheer talent. Throughout the book, the author had effectively casted a spell over the readers that every single feeling and thought-process of the readers were under the author’s control. This is the next big success of this book and the author.

The book revolves around art, the lead characters talks so much about arts and paintings and art galleries, and so that itself will give a very beautiful picture about the setting and the backdrop of the plot and it was quite informative. Everything about this book was so very pleasant. And the way in which the author had described the Kate’s gallery and Sheffield was extremely rich and ethnic.

The turns the book took and how it marched forward was tremendous. Throughout the book, the writing style was really engaging. Certain phrases, dialogue delivery and the narrative style was outstanding. The writing style could’ve been a bit more cohesive and smooth because at certain points it was kind of rash. On the whole it was a very interesting and enchanting read and totally worth the read and time.

My Views

I have been crazily waiting for this book and once I got approval for reviewing this book, I was absolutely over the moon and even before starting the book itself I knew it was going to be an amazing read. At times you kind of get this weird vibe where you feel it in your gut that this book is all you needed just by looking at the cover and the title, Accidentally in Love is that kind of a book to me. But this can be at times misleading 😛 but I’m happy that this work by Belinda Missen turned out to be really great.

I loved Kate’s character so very much. I could related with her immediately and she was absolutely the one about whom I wanted to read. She was so strong and her desire to want to prove herself to the world without any man’s help was something that made me admire her so much. She was someone worth calling an inspiration. I initially loved John so much despite all the red flags and red signals, their parts were really epic and I loved it so much. When it didn’t work out, I was way too heart-broken than Kate and John. Yeah, this happen with me every time, I simply want the lead characters to stay with their first boyfriend or girlfriend, I think it’s some kind of a disorder but ultimately Christopher charmed his way through and in the end he was the one who felt right.

I usually like books that are set out in England, the vibe and the aura that England provides is something really unique and epic. I get this rose tinted glasses on whenever I read a story based on England and it’s suburbs or the city of London itself and I seriously do not know the reason.

I simply loved this book so very much and I would suggest this book to all the rom-com and chick-lit lovers, you will definitely love it. And if you are someone who is looking for a calm, light and feel good book filled wit lot aspirations and inspirations, then this book is absolutely for you.

My rating for this book would be 3.6 out of 5 stars

There is a very special element to this book because I ended 2020 on a good note by reading this wonderful book!!!

Happy Reading Folk!!!

Belinda Missen is very much a name to check out :). The heroine was very well drawn, and, being myself from an artistic environment, I related a lot to her experiences... Here we had a character that was not only centering her story on romance, but on her friendships, work and family (her moments with her brother and stepmother come to mind as super cute). That being said... I had a liiiitle bit of an issue here... Only that there was so much about her romantic history with our guy (Kit) that I wanted to know more about... I feel like a fangirl desperate for an epilogue or deleted scenes... Kit seems like such a cute guy, (he reminded me a little of the hero from Wallbanger) and it felt like we spent more time with her ex boyfriend than him. I get it. Relationships are messy and life is messy and it is not always that straight to the point let's fall in love with the next guy. I liked the time that the author dedicated to heartbreak (the first 30% of the book she still hasn't talked a lot with Kit and is dealing with her stuff). But in the way that was approached, their relationship felt a little rushed in the sense that I was begging for something like please author I love your story give me moreee. Belinda Missen. You got a fan. Please send me deleted scenes of Kit cooking breakfast again. We had that kind of year :)

I enjoyed this sweet, British romance! Just what I was looking for in the moment. I enjoyed the main characters, and loved their connection.

I ended up running out of time to read and review this book but I do still want to read it in the future. I had gotten a new job at a health call center and that was mentally exhausting and it still is. Thank you netgalley and publishers for the chance to read and review this.

I want to begin this review by saying a huge thank you to Belinda Missen, HQ Digital and Rachel’s Random Resources for providing me with a free copy of this book. I have thoroughly enjoyed it and thank you for letting me read it early.

I absolutely loved Katherine, our heroine of this story. From the very first few chapters, where she walks out of her office because a unqualified man, who knows how to be part of the boys club, got the job she deserved, I knew that I was going to like this girl. She has guts. She’s stubborn and she knows what she wants.

When ‘they’ say that opposites attract I’m not sure what they mean because, for as stubborn as Kit was, and in my opinion he wasn’t all that stubborn, just misunderstood, Katherine was just as stubborn. These characters were bound to clash head, get on like a house on fire, and make explosions.

Katherine makes going from corporate life in London to owning her own gallery in Sheffield look like a breeze. I’m sure if I were to set up my own business, it wouldn’t go nearly as well. And that’s not to say Katherine had it easy. For every up it seemed like this girl had two downs and in the end you are just hoping that life evens out for her.

My only problem with this story as, I have with a lot of romance is it’s predictability. We know where this girl is going to end up. It’s a romance story, of course we know. But I thoroughly enjoyed the journey on this one.

I highly recommend for anyone who loves a good swoon when it comes to romance.

And just before I sign off I want to say how good it is to read a British book that wasn’t set in London. I thoroughly enjoyed re-exploring Sheffield through the eyes of our characters. It was great to be back in the city I went to university.

I have a soft spot in my heart for British rom-coms so obviously I dove into this one with high hopes. It did not disappoint! Belinda Missen is a new to me author, and I will have to add her other books to my evergrowing to-read list. In short, I loved the book.

Katie is an art curator who, after being passed up for a promotion, uproots her life from London to Loxley, where she grew up. While the uproot is not the most original trope, it is made fresh and new by Missen. Katie decides (with the help of her family) to open an art gallery in Loxley. The only hiccup in her plan is the stubborn and brooding, Kit, who seems to be lovely and pleasant with everyone but Katie! We follow Katie as she sets up the gallery and helps her best friend with wedding planning, all while finding herself again.

I won’t give much more away but it is exactly what I needed to end 2020 on: a cute and delightful note. It was a pleasant surprise of a book and I highly recommend it.

As soon as I read the synopsis of this Book, I knew I was going to love it.  It is Chick-Lit at its finest.

It is such a heart-warming, easy read that proves that anything, especially change, is possible if you put your mind to it.

I absolutely loved Kit.  I do love a brooding male character in a Book, and what a fine one he was!

This is definitely a ‘Who Run The World, Girls’ Book!  I haven’t read anything by Belinda Missen before, but will look out for her again as her easy writing style is so lovely to snuggle up and read!

Highly recommend this book!

Things are not going well for Katherine in London. Unfairly overlooked for promotion again, she quits her job and breaks up with the guy who wont commit. She decides to move back to her hometown and open her own art gallery and take control of her life, but she does not anticipate finding herself accidentally in love.

I loved that Katherine and Kit did not instantly click and start flirting, that they had this apparent mutual dislike for each other which was comical but realistic.

This was the first book I have read by this author and I will certainly be reading the rest of Belinda Missen’s work. This book was a joy to read and especially uplifting and warm-hearted.

Yet another great British rom-com. It has really been a banner year for quirky and enjoyable books coming from across the pond. Kit and Katherine had great chemistry and even better banter. I definitely laughed out loud on several occasions, even having to reread some parts because I couldn't see through the tears of laughter.
