Villian by Caro Savage is a fabulous mix of gangland thriller and police procedural. It is the second book featuring D.C Bailey Morgan and the first book I have read in this series, it actually works very well as a standalone also.In Villain Bailey agrees to go undercover again, this time into a big crime family in London, the Molloys, a family with fingers in every pie going. She needs to get the family and everyone around them to trust her in order for her to get the evidence needed for a big charge. This is not an easy task and if she gets discovered she may pay, with her life! Bailey needs to be 110% with this assignment but memories crowd her mind from previous jobs, can she get over this barrier to complete the job or not?
A fantastic woman! I loved Bailey and thought she was one fiesty woman. A women attempting to infiltrate a crime family, just the thought of what she had to do filled me with dread. She is a strong, clever and ingenious copper. I read the first meeting with the Molloy family and that pressure alone was enough for me to say, no thanks!
I totally enjoyed Villain, it held everything needed in a gangland story. Filled with excitement, truly intense drama and obvioulsy danger at any point.Bailey has to deal with these things constantly and I applaud her for having the guts to face it all. We have to remember, with crime families comes violence and lots of it, she faces all this with bravery and determination. A story that had me holding my breath in parts and racing to turn the pages it had me that immersed.A gritty and totally unpredictable book, that I can recommend to readers who love Mandasue Heller, Martina Cole, Kimberley Chambers anybody who enjoys a gritty thriller will love this!
Thanks to Rachel's Random Resources,Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the book and my place on the blog tour today.

Villain is the second book to feature Detective Constable Bailey Morgan, however, both books are described as standalones despite featuring the same protagonist and central character, so you don't need to have read the previous book before this one you can simply dive right in. Bailey is an undercover police officer who is this time tasked with infiltrating the inner sanctum of one of the most notorious and nefarious gangs of the London underworld, The Molloy Family. Posing as a female gangster, she must secretly and single-handedly get them to trust her and then collect evidence of their misdeeds and criminal behaviour so the police have enough to put this menacing lot away for a good long stretch. It won't be easy, though, as the Molloy's don't just let anyone into their circle and if her cover is somehow blown her life would almost certainly be in danger. Can she block out memories of her last undercover assignment and keep her head in the game or will she be rumbled?

I thoroughly enjoyed Villain as it's a story full of intense drama, excitement and imminent danger seemingly lurking around every corner. It's a tough street scene for anyone to brave never mind a female and with an endless array of tested loyalties, betrayals, double-crosses and shifting allegiances, Bailey has to be ballsy and confident and there is torture, violence and tension as the plot races along barely giving you a moment to breathe; for the majority of the time my heart was simply pounding and I noticed myself turning the pages more rapidly and anxiously. I found it impossible not to admire the kick-ass feisty female at the centre of it all. This is a compulsive, gritty and wildly unpredictable gangland thriller which I highly recommend to those who enjoy the likes of Jessie Keane, Kimberly Chambers and Martina Cole. Highly recommended. Many thanks to Boldwood Books for an ARC.

5 Stars from me

This book has it all - it is super fast paced, with a ballsy-yet-human female lead; it has corruption, good guys, bad guys and a sharp level of tension that kept a me on high alert all the way through.

I loved the undercover work, that was fascinating and horrible in equal measure. The family side of things for Bailey was well balanced, it was quite a strong thread throughout the book and it managed to stay in place as a sub-plot which was good.

I loved Bailey, what a great character. Got to be honest, Rick and Nancy were also up there in my list of favourites. We can just gloss over what that says about me.

As soon as I had finished Villain I was gutted that I hadn't read Jail Bird first, so I heartily recommend that you go do that as Villain gives a few spoilers for what happens in the first book.

Exciting and involving thriller

There’s a dramatic start. Then the adrenaline keeps rising as DC Bailey juggles her dangerous undercover assignment with other dramas going on in her life.

Bailey’s new role is to infiltrate a gang and provide the proof the police need to bring them to justice. Will the gang accept her for what she appears to be, and will her memories of her last undercover job make this one too difficult for her? Set in London this is an exciting, hard hitting and completely involving thriller.

Meanwhile Bailey’s father is ill, and Bailey is keen to discover what happened to her sister all those years ago. These family sections offset the gritty gang sections of the novel, also adding tension as to whether Bailey can give her family the time they need, whilst not being outed from her undercover role.

I found myself involved and worried for Bailey throughout most of this thriller. She is a great character, and everything she did seemed very real. She definitely made me realise that being an undercover agent would not suit me.

5*s from me, as this fast moving and gripping thriller all seemed completely real and believable, and kept me up reading late on too many nights. I read this as a stand alone book, the first book I have read by this author; certainly not the last. I worried at the beginning that the storyline was too gritty for me, but am pleased I kept going. There are references to violence, but there is no blood spilt on the pages. Recommended!

Villain is a fast-paced, jaw-dropping thriller by Caro Savage. I was hooked on to the story and could not put it down until the end. The story is sure to bring shivers down your spine.

This is a well-plotted and well-written thriller. You will never see the twists coming. Just when you think 'Gotcha", there's another twist. The story is totally engrossing and keeps you on the edge of the seat. A little trigger warning with the torture of physical and sexual kind. Nothing in detail though.

Caro Savage is an excellent storyteller. Be it the writing or the character development, this story is absolutely mind-blowing. A highly recommended read!

Another brilliant read from this author.
The main character is undercover Detective Constable Bailey Morgan. This character is fantastic. I love everything about her, the author has done an amazing job Building a character that can do nothing but grow.
Bailey has to infiltrate the inner circle of a notorious underworld family. Posing as a fellow villain, she is on a one-woman mission to bring the family to their knees. But we all know this isn't going to be easy or straight forward and with a family as tight as The Malloy family. This family may contain nuts, if you have an allergy stay away from them. They are not the nicest of families and the lengths they go to, to remain notorious is not for the faint hearted. Twists, turns a rollercoaster of a ride but one that will leave you wondering what the hell can come next for Bailey.
Can Baily get in with them, can she bring them down. Is her personal life going to interfere with her mission or will she lose focus. Reading this book is the only way you'll find out.

Becoming a huge fan of this authors work and I for one can't wait for more. I think this author is well suited to this genre and will be flying high with some of the best very soon.

Great thriller about a female undercover officer who needs to infiltrate a London crime family full with ruthless people. Meanwhile her father is dying and she finds out the fate of her sister who got abducted over 20 years ago. I flew through this action packed book as there was a lot of stuff going on and I wanted to find out how certain things developed. It kept me up past my bedtime so it's safe to say I enjoyed this book.

We are back with Bailey Morgan on another undercover operation, this time to bring down the notorious Molloy family.

Posing as a villain herself Bailey finds herself in very deep water.

I am absolutely loving these series of books, Caro gave me those heart in my mouth moments not knowing what is coming up next, I enjoyed Bailey's history and diving into her personal life along the way.

WOW totally smashed it, I do hope there is more for Bailey Morgan.
