A good second chance romance, enlivened by the humour and animals and situations that being in a veterinary practice can give rise to.
Well written in a good style and well proofread, as MIlls and Boon published novels tend to be.
The Vet’s Secret Son is written by Annie O’Neil and published by M&B Medical. Lucas Williams due to family problems was forced to walk away from Ellie Stone and by doing so destroyed their hopes and dreams for the future. When he comes back to Ellie 6 years later she is a successful vet and is raising their son.
Lucas’ loyalty to his family proved to be his undoing whilst Ellie is resilient and has shown she does not need Lucas to build a successful business and also raise their child on her own. This is a second chance at love novel but will Ellie trust him enough to give their relationship a go?
An interesting read. I enjoyed reading about the incidental animal characters. I found Lucas’ character quite irritating. He only came back to see if Ellie was okay. Would he have stayed without his son being there?
I received this book via Netgalley and Mills and Boon in exchange for a honest review. I am a #MillsAndBoonInsider #netgalley #gifted
A sweet second chance romance, for two vets, dedicated to animals but torn apart by family drama which leaves a big secret between them.
The characters in this romance are relatable. Ellie is clever and courageous, but so scared of losing the son who means everything to her. Lucas is loyal to his family even when it means destroying what he has with Ellie. His motivations are understandable but flawed. The supporting cast, including many animals, give this story an authentic ethos and add humour and poignancy to a lovely romantic tale full of angst but thankfully happily resolved.
I received a copy of this book from Mills and Boon via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Thoroughly enjoyable reading. It grabs your heart and emotions and holds them until the end of the book. It left me wanting more.
Ellie owns a high tech vet practice in Cornwall with her best friend Drew and her young son Maverick but Drew has had a horrific car accident and the person who is coming to help out in the clinic is Lucas, her ex fiancé and the father to her son
I adored Ellie, she is bright and loving. Her vet practice is more of a community centre with a petting zoo than just a traditional practice, she also cares just as much about the people as animals and has huge respect in the community
Lucas was a bit harder to figure out as it didn’t make sense initially why of all the vet practices he would go to hers after he hurt her so badly but once I understood why his reasoning made so much more sense. He cares a lot and just wanted to make Ellie, and once he found out about him, Maverick happy
I loved the descriptions of the patients and the surgery’s that Ellie and Lucas have to deal with from a breach alpaca birth to wild horses and a dog who ate a bucket of less weights as well as the more traditional cases which was so interesting and caught my attention pulling me deeper into the book
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a romance with fabulous characters, both human and animal, as well as a look into if it’s possible to learn to love again
Lucas and Ellie were engaged to be married but then Lucas had to go home and help his family and left Ellie behind, now he is back and about to discover he also left a son behind. This was a really sweet read and thoroughly enjoyable as well.
The Vet's Secret Son is a very vivid read, descriptions and events make it feel as if you are stood watching them unfold rather than reading about them. Which shows the strength Annie O'Neil has a writer. Very enjoyable read.
Another great read by a talented author I really enjoyed reading it and will definitely read more and recommend reading it
