My first venture into reading Louis Sachar's work, other than Holes, this delightful story based around a quirky school had me eagerly returning for the next chapter and the next adventure of one of the off-the-wall students and staff had me longing for more. With the impending cloud of the title looming larger in the stories and you progress through the book the connection is at once intriguing and delightful as an observer of writing to see it interweaved into the narrative. A true master of his arts, Louis Sacher does not disappoint.

I received a copy of the book from Netgalley to review. Thank you for the opportunity.
A fun and laugh out loud book, perfect for story time. I defy any child to not be taken in and enjoy this book. The writing is good and kind of timeless with the story full of relatable, sweet and some totally gross moments!
A great read.

I grew up reading the Wayside books and knew, the moment I saw this, that I absolutely had to have it, to read to my daughter. It is a bit older than her age, but she adored me reading it to her at night. She loved the story and really enjoyed hearing all the funning happenings or Wayside school. It is definitely a book we recommend and we will be looking out for more, from this author!

I really enjoyed this book, as did my children (8 and 10). It was a lighthearted and fun book to read. There were lots of laugh out loud moments and discussion points in the story. The story moves at pace and doesn’t require too much thought to follow. We liked comparing the cloud of doom to the current pandemic and there was a really strong message in looking at the story this way. I know that my class would enjoy the book as it is engaging and full of humour.

Wayside School is unlike any that I have ever encountered before. The school has thirty floors, peculiar bells,, fascinating staff but most of all there are captivating students in abundance. They are all unique and The Ultimate Test is enthralling. Mrs Jewl has taught me the power of a triple-locked box and reinforced the privilege it is to be a teacher! I will certainly read the previous Wayside School books now.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC and Louis Sachar for this enchanting book.
