This definitely has you wondering who did it but otherwise it’s a slightly far fetched story about Tara who inconceivably had a one night stand on a business trip which took a strange twist when the other man wouldn’t leave her alone. There’s some good themes in here including coercive control but they could be better explored. I think I didn’t take to Tara as a character which didn’t help, although her husband Christian was more likeable, which is part of why I didn’t enjoy this as much as I might. Overall it’s a decent story but lacks credibility.

I love Tony Parsons' Max Wolfe so was really looking forward to this one. I have to say it's very readable but not entirely credible. Overlong, which dilutes the tension and a female narrator that just didn't come across for me. Sorry!!

It’s hard to guess who the culprit is, because it could be pretty much anybody. It’s hard to know who is not lying. It’s hard to know if you can trust anyone. Ever. The human mind is so strange and complex, and I doubt anyone can ever understand what’s going on up there.

The book is about all the aforementioned things, that, and murder plus obsession. We know a man as murdered, but who did it? Do you think you know who did it? The book made me feel like I want to question everyone around me. It’s skillfully written, and even though in the end I don’t really care for anyone in the book, except the dog, I’m still drawn to the story, and it will haunt me for some time, I’m sure.

It’s easy to read, the story flows well, and I really wanted to know whodunnit. Usually I don’t care too much for a book with no likable people, but this time it actually worked.

It's a roller-coaster of a book, all twists and turns and very fast-moving. No idea why its called your neighbour's wife but no-one is very nice and everyone acts impulsively and without care. A one-night stand in a Japanese hotel seems to be the starting point but all the characters are keeping secrets and lying and we only find out who committed the murder at the end. Not a dull moment, not my thing but will be brilliant entertainment for those who enjoy fast domestic thrillers.

Tony Parsons is definitely becoming one of my favourite writers.

This book is narrated by Tara and Christian and almost straight away becomes gripping and intense.
Fast paced and with plenty of twists albeit still, for most parts, very realistic this book caught my attention and I struggled to put it down, sacrificing my sleep, once again.

The characters are well constructed and really compelling and really drawn my attention to the story. I simply couldn’t put it down until I figure out was would happen to Tara and at what costs.

Overall, I really loved this psychological thriller and can’t wait for future books by Tony Parsons.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Random House UK Cornerstone for an advanced digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review

If you ever wanted a cautionary tale of the ripples that can spread out after one mistake, this is it! Tara Carver had it all when she went to Tokyo for a conference, but a one night stand there had consequences way beyond any that could have been reasonably predicted. These consequences affect increasing numbers of people as the book progresses and there are plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader wanting more. The characters are all brilliantly drawn,(including the incredibly endearing dog Buddy!) and the story, whilst being horrifying, is completely believable. I found this a bit slow to get going, but once it did, there was no stopping it until the final word.

Somewhat of a kitchen sink tale of deceit and murder with a beautiful entrepreneur at the heart of the story. Happily married but a one night stand in Tokyo results in a who did the murder with a long list of suspects. It tends to drift along with unlikely scenarios, a senior policeman with his own problems conveniently sent to prison thus removing him from the drama. All builds to a sugar coated finale.

My first book by Tony Parsons and I really enjoyed it and shall now be looking out for more of his books. Tara Carver seems to have it all her own successful business, happy marriage the perfect life but one mistake and everything in a flash is changed and Tara’s life then begins to spiral out of control. What I liked about this book was that the twists surprised me and the read was not at all predictable I read a lot of thrillers and am sometimes disappointed with a plot line but this was a such a well thought out story it kept me on my toes throughout and I had a satisfied smile on my face when I finished the book.
The characters were all well written and not all were likeable and this again added a lot to my enjoyment of the book and it is one that would recommend to all thriller lovers.
My thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone, Century for giving me the chance to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was a surprise!! Fantastic book, had me gripped from the first page to the last, and kept me guessing all the way through!
Tara had it all, a successful company she had started, a gorgeous husband, beautiful son, and was adored by family, friends and colleagues
Life and love takes a different path, and everything changes.
Really well written, great characters, and a brilliant story of our times.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and can highly recommend it.
Love and life.....twists and turns.....

I really enjoyed this book. About two thirds of the way through the book I felt the story was coming to a satisfactory conclusion and then it kept on giving, The story is about a married couple with one child. Christian is the stay at home dad and happy with that and Tara has her own dating app business. She started this company with a friend and all seemed to be going smoothly until she went to Tokyo on business and then the world fell apart for Tara. She made a huge mistake, going to a bar on her own, getting drunk and then landing up in the hotel bedroom of James Caine. He appears to be a serial womaniser and hounds Tara to the point of almost no return. Things get worse, Mary her friend and colleague is very unhappy with James Caine coming to he office and Christian finds out and the story continues with the lives of the main characters. As well as problems at home Tara’s mistake affects work in a big way. The final outcome which itself was a fab twist was unexpected. Definitely worth a read and I could see it as a tv drama in the future.

The two genres in which Tony Parsons excels are crime fiction and relationships. Best known for novels like Man And Boy and the Max Wolfe series of detective stories, here he combines the two genres to produce this excellent read. It has a number of tropes from both types of fiction but they are melded together so skilfully that this feels fresh and exciting. Add to this the many references to music and journalism from Parsons' former career and you have a tremendous book.

Tara is a successful business woman, running a dating agency. Her husband Christian is the stay at home Dad. Their life seems idyllic. Until that is Tara has a fateful one night stand. James is a serial womanizer who then controls the woman's life and gets a kick out of mentally abusing her. As the happy couple begin to fall apart James is found, murdered. Although there is a conviction the police man in charge of the case does not want to believe it wasn't Christian, or indeed his wife. This book illustrates how destructive an affair can be, destroying trust and the completeness of a monogamous loving couple . Another great book by Tony Parsons

A definite five stars and I don’t give five stars randomly. Twists and turns and lots of why, why, why. A wonderful life tumbles out of control into a complete nightmare with nowhere out and it is all Tara’s fault. Who is Tara, who is her husband, who is her father? No one is as they appear.

She Of The Perfect Life.....
Tara Carver. She of the perfect life. A seemingly perfect family and the perfect career. Tara could be your neighbour or, indeed, your neighbours wife. One night Tara risks it all and throws caution to the wind. She will live to regret it. Compelling domestic noir with credible characters. A tried and tested theme although really none the worse for that. A compulsive read.

Rather misleading title, but I guess it refers to the biblical....'thy shall not cover your neighbour's wife.'
Interesting read, but the Tara's and Christian's narrative weren't that distinctive enough to know who was talking in each chapter.
The characters were quite well drawn and the supporting cast quite believable. The subplots added another dimension, though, they didn't improve the novel. Overall, a worthwhile read.

Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this new Tony Parsons novel. It was entertaining and kept me reading right to the end. I think I had probably half worked out the ending but this was nevertheless an enjoyable read. However, I prefer Parson's DCI Max Wolfe if I'm honest - this was a bit parochial for my tastes.

Another twisty plot with well drawn characters and crackling dialogue. The plot revolves around a revenge killing and then evolves into a whodunnit.

The trick pulled off by Tony Parsons is that you know whodunnit but he consistently misdirects you with plot development and there are a plethora of characters who could be the culprit.

Another fine book by an author at the top of his game - recommended.
