Another fabulous hit from Sarah Morgan - the books just keep getting better! I loved this charming, atmospheric tale, and as usual the focus was heavily on relationships. I was so glad for Gayle that she broke the mould and stepped outside her comfort zone, and there was a happy ending with changes for everyone. The little girl Tab was enchanting - Morgan writes children so well and should definitely feature more in her books!!

One More for Christmas by Sarah Morgan is the perfect read to escape with this festive season. You always know you’re in for a lovely, warm, uplifting story when you read a book by this author and this one was no exception.

It tells the story of Gayle, a highly successful and motivated business woman who hasn’t spoken to her two daughters for years. But when she has an accident at work, she comes to the realisation that the time has come for her to try to make amends. And so she invites herself to spend Christmas in the Scottish Highlands with Samantha and Ella, much to the disapproval of them both. Will Gayle be able to win her daughters round? Or has she left it far too late to put things right?

Oh my word, what an absolute delight this book was from start to finish! Set against the backdrop of the beautiful Scottish Highlands, Sarah Morgan has yet another festive treat on her hands. With a colourful cast of characters and a heartwarming story of family conflict, romance and new beginnings, this is a book that will leave you with a warm and happy glow as you turn the final page.

I loved everything about One More for Christmas. It has everything you could possibly ever want or need from the perfect festive read. From the magic of Christmas to a sprinkling of romance, this is a book that will make you laugh and it will make you cry, but most of all it will transport you to a place far away from the harsh realities of real life, something we’re all in desperate need of in these strangest of times we find ourselves living in right now.

Sarah Morgan is an author at the top of her game and One More for Christmas is pure escapism at its very best. Loved it!

A lovely book, set at Christmas time in snowy Scotland. Heartwarming with good characters and a very enjoyable plot. Each of the characters takes a chapter each to put there own viewpoint forward before the story weaves on. I enjoyed Sarah Morgan’s writing style and would recommend this book
Big thanks to Netgalley, HQ and Sarah Morgan for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review

I know we’re way past Christmas now, but there’s never a bad time to read a Christmas book. And One More for Christmas is the perfect book to bring the Christmas magic any time of the year. Huge thanks to the author, Sarah Morgan, for sending me a signed copy of this book to read and review! I will forever treasure it!

Synopsis:

Gayle is a highly successful and motivated business woman, but her success has come at a price – she hasn’t spoken to her daughters, Ella and Samantha, for years. But when Gayle has an accident at work, she realises she needs to make amends with her family.

And so she invites herself to join Ella and Samantha for their Christmas in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. The sisters are none too pleased that their mother has inserted herself into their Christmas plans. They have each other – and don’t need their mother back in their lives. Or so they think…

As they embark on their first family Christmas together in years, will the three women learn that sometimes facing up to a few home truths is all you need to heal your heart?

My Thoughts:

I actually read One More For Christmas during the Christmas holidays, but as you can see, I am still trying to keep up to date with my backlist. This is not your typical Christmas book. It’s a modern story, about complicated relationships and pursuing careers. It’s also about how sometimes changing your perspective in life can bring you true happiness.

Gayle has not been the best mother to her daughters, and that’s why Ella and Samantha have learned to stick together. When they end up having to spend Christmas with their mum, many emotions start to come back. Sarah Morgan has succeeded in portraying their relationship and their point of view, and we can grasp their complexity thanks to her.

“A relationship is like a jigsaw, isn’t it? Whether it’s with a partner, with friends or with your children – it’s made up of hundreds of tiny pieces, some imperfect. Those characteristics unique to each one of us, the genes we inherit, our life experiences, the way we behave. Tony, misshapen little pieces that make us who we are. And when you make a life with someone, you have to somehow find a way to make all those pieces fit. If you’re lucky, they come together into something that makes sense as a whole.”

Even though the relationship between the mother and her daughters seems to drive the story, this book is so much more than that. Modern romance, beautiful Christmassy moments set on a mountain in Scotland and powerful feminist voice!

The perfect modern Christmas book!

I especially loved the scenes that brought the Christmas spirits, especially through the eyes of a little girl. The reindeers, the snow, the food and the family atmosphere, it was all so warm and loving. It was quite unique to also read about how Ella and Samantha feel about Christmas as well, having grown up without celebrating it. And the same goes for Gayle as well – her reasons for not celebrating Christmas with her daughters, and her personal development throughout the book.

Emotional, modern and amazingly written Christmas book that will transport you to the magical Scottish mountains. I love Sarah Morgan’s writing and can’t wait to read her next book. I hope her books become movie adaptations one day as well!

Such an adorable read. Love Sarah Morgan books.

This one is set at Christmas, where Gayle is looking to make an improved life for herself. Just as her plans are in place she has an accident and she is in hospital.

But time in her hands makes her change and realise she has a desire to get to know her estranged daughters whom she has not seen or spoken to for five years.

Queue a good traditional family Christmas, what follows a a delectable tale of love, humour, family and memories with lightly covered snow mountains. The perfect setting.

What do you do when you & your sister haven’t spoken to your Christmas-hating mother for five years? Invite her to spend Christmas with you .... on a family holiday ... in the middle of nowhere ... in a country thousands of miles away. What could possibly go wrong?
I really enjoyed this book, written really well with fully formed & interesting main and supporting characters. I loved how each of the main characters were given a number of chapters from their own perspectives. This added to the reader knowing more about some aspects of each of the characters than the others in the story did, and this gave insight and understanding as to why each character was behaving and responding as they were. I felt that really added to the story and brought the reader fully into it.
Absolutely wonderful descriptions of the Scottish scenery to the point where I too would be willing to spend a fortune to enjoy a break away there over Christmas.
A really enjoyable story full of family, festive fun and romance.

This was another heart warmer from Sarah Morgan, that drew me in from the start. All the elements of Christmas were captured in the story with a bustling christmasified city that soon moves location to a traditional winter wonderland. This is a battle between the heart and the head, or you could even say Scrooge V love.
A story of repairing relationships and new starts, Gayle Mitchell is strong and successful. Alienated from her two daughters, work is her life. A tumble and a bang on the head cause her to start thinking and she spends Christmas in the Highlands with her family! New relationships are forged and truths are revealed, giving a chance for new beginnings and a second chance.
This has everything Christmas and is a natural feel good. The perfect read for those darker nights, under a blanket with a hot chocolate, it didn’t disappoint.

I loved reading this story. The relationship between mother and daughters stood out for me as one of its strengths as everyone had to reappraise their feelings. Overlaid on top of this is the most delightful festive read with a glorious Christmas setting in Scotland and a family there who have their own concerns. All the characters stood as individuals. With snow fall and Christmas touches, it is a great festive read.
Thanks to netgalley for a copy of the book

Well this book was a pleasant surprise for me. I don’t normally like romantic or Christmas stories yet I devoured this up!!

Gayle is a accomplished business woman but her success has come at a price, as she is estranged from her two daughters Samantha and Ella.

When Gayle has an accident she reaches out to her daughters who she hasn’t seen in five years. Samantha and Ella are both excitedly making plans for Christmas that do not include their mother!! Gayle convinces her reluctant family to spend Christmas together

The story is told from their individual points of view as they all head off to Scotland, where Sam will be viewing a castle as a possible holiday destination for her travel company.

This is such a beautifully written book. I found it to be heartwarming and exactly what I needed to read during these stressful times!! I have never read a Sarah Morgan book before but I will definitely look out for her other stories ASAP!!

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.

Another great Christmas read by Sarah Morgan, it didn’t disappoint. Loved unravelling the back story to Gayle and why she brought up her daughters the way she did. Always funny to see how different generations adapt to parenting. And you don’t need to save it for Christmas!
